This area in Mid-Coast Maine is one of the most beautiful in the region...especially as you go further down the peninsulas to the ocean. There are just three mid-sized cottages on the property... so it seems more like staying with friends in the guest house, than the commercial feeling one would get if staying in a small motel "cabin". Our cottage was nestled in a lovely pine grove and had a view of Long cove and "Southern Island" (Owned by Jamie Wyeth) at the mouth of Tenants Harbor. We were able to keep the cost of our vacation down a bit since these were "housekeeping" cottages with a refrigerator and a dining area as well as pots and pans and plates and dishes----so we "cooked in" for breakfast and lunch. Debbie Johnson, the owner was a wealth of information about what to do and where to go...especially with recommendations of places off the beaten path. We plan visit again next time we are in this part of Maine.

We find it a time of profound relaxation, if we choose it so, with limited internet access and much time watching the ocean. We also spend a lot of time reading and walking, and learning more each year about Maine. We use the library built by the Thompsons, with a focus on books by Maine authors, or set in Maine, plus the latest bestsellers. We use the books on local trails and sites to explore the area. Karen and Merle and the staff are always helpful, and have really helped us get to know the area. We'll be back in years to come, and are considering adding a May visit. After all, we want to get to know Maine in the springtime, as well as at the height of summer. And we know a wonderful place to serve as our home base.

The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and has an fully equipped kitchen with basic essentials. I was surprised to see there were coffee filters, garbage bags, dish soap, and basic kitchen appliances. The bathroom comes with toilet paper, hand soap, and a blow dryer. The beds were comfortable (we weren't expecting that considering we've slept on stiff beds many times during our travels). The biggest surprise of all was that the fireplace comes with firewood! You can also use one of their rowboats or kayak for free during your stay. We are very happy with the cottages and would love to come again. It really is a great getaway.

Perfect place for a Maine getaway…read more This isn't the yacht club down the street - this is a low key place that you go to relax and watch the water. The cabin I rented was perfect for me and a very large dog; we sat on the deck and watched the boats come and go. There was a dock with boats to use and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout so you could just watch the harbor. All the cabins are off the main road and tucked back towards the water. The cabins are bright inside, lace covered windows and have a sweet little porch to sit on. You can be sociable with the other guests, otherwise most people will respect your need for quiet. Sunsets are beautiful there, right on John's Bay. Shared Cook House was well equipped. Shared shower spick and span clean. Perfect location near the classic Pemaquid Lighthouse and all things classic Maine. The prices were very reasonable for such a lovely area. We will return.

We feel very relaxed when we are there, and actually hate having to stay in hotels on our drive up or when going back home. The cottage is very relaxing, cozy, and comfortable. There is a lovely selection of teas and coffees available to have with Ammi's absolutely delicious homemade blueberry muffins! The porch and garden are beautifully tended and there are multiple places to sit outdoors and relax. Ammi is a talented artist and she has a small gallery of work on the premises where you can view and purchase her vibrant work. Her artwork is also on display in the cottages. Ammi's attention to detail, her keen eye for decorating, her wonderful personality, and her genuine care for her guests is what has made this place extra special. We will return again and again!!

Ammi and Kevin were perfect hosts, and coffee on the porch in the morning with her homemade blueberry muffins was relaxing and a perfect start to the day. Sea Salt Boutique Cottages is in the town of Wiscasset which has lovely shops and lobster dinners and is fun to explore all of which makes for a wonderful experience.

You are on a boat, so you go by the rules - wash your electric consumption, save on water. The result is time for yourself, be to read, canoe, or just rest. Some rain? Not a problem, just bundle up and enjoy the sound of drops on the water, or see the clouds changing.
