Beautiful walk through history and well kept up. Our tour guide talked about how the images over the last century are of actual people. They're taken from real photographs so that's cool. It's a fun sight to see.

The most distinctive feature of this town is the murals which have been painted on their sizable flood walls. They appeared to be holding a small celebration of a new painting when I arrived. The river on the other side of the walls is a long way down and the other bank seemed unsettled and much flatter, so it would take some serious flooding to actually test these walls, but I assume they were built for a reason. The murals include a variety of history and were certainly interesting and worth photographing. If you drive a long way just to see them, they're not going to change your life, but it's a nice tradition, and I hope they continue to introduce new art.

My husband and I retired in the Paducah area and when we first visited Paducah we were blown away with the art work on the sea wall. The paintings depict the history of Paducah and a definite MOST visitors stop. This downtown area has several restaurants so it's a great way to spend an afternoon!

We wandered to Paducah as a day trip from Nashville, and the Flood Wall Murals was one of the more interesting things we saw there! Although some of the panels were sponsored by local businesses (and so don't really reflect Paducah's history, but the history of the sponsoring business in Paducah), most of the panels depict the history of Paducah, including that of Native Americans and African Americans. It was definitely worth a walk along the river to learn about this interesting little Kentucky town!

History comes alive on the waterfront. Great short walk along the land side of the flood wall, near fun shops and restaurants. I'm from Greater St. Louis, and can't think of anything quite so interesting near our river. Especially delightful on a spring or fall evening, after drinks or dinner. Worth the drive into historic downtown from I-24. LOCAL COLOR, not farmer's market. Hoping HQ will correct.

It is hard to miss these murals when you are wondering around Paducah. I could not find the history of these, but they all tell the story of Paducah. You can get a walk and learn while you are at it....Most people drive by in their cars, but they do have a sidewalk in my opinion it is the best way to view them.

What artistry and history that has been put into this flood wall in Paducah. Job well done- absolutely amazing art work and good to see that it has been kept in good condition. Anyone that is interested in the history of this river town or most importantly in artwork ~it is a must see! We have visited this flood wall full of murals a few times and each time we visit it we see in more detail what has truly been put into it. KUDOS to all!! Also, what a view of the Ohio River~ Beautiful!

This site is a hop skip and a jump away from Wickliffe Mounds if you are passing through Paducah,…read moreKY. Cross the bridge into Illinois and take a brief excursion through river flood plain to see this site. It is quite impressive even if you are observing the mounds (respectfully) from a distance. I was moved by these features. To think what people accomplished at this site nearly a thousand years ago. Absolutely astonishing to behold. The size of these mounds is amazing.

To be honest, there really isn't that much to see. Unless you are an Ancient World History…read moreenthusiast, you may find this fascinating. It is very interesting that at one point in the past, this was an actual city. The land where the site stands today was once a major trading post on the Ohio River. If you're looking for something spectacular in sight, this probably won't be for you. There are signs and plaques that tell the story, as well as showing what was believed to have existed at the time, but not very much else. The public is not allowed near or on the mounds. Speaking of which, they really weren't that attractive as they looked like their grass hasn't been cut in years. Maybe it is intentional, for all I know. The site is very tricky to get to. The best way to get there is from Brookport, Illinois. You'll see a sign for Kincaid Mounds as you're going onto Unionville Road. It is probably ten miles from the town. Once you pass the small village of Unionville, you'll know you are getting close and follow the signs. The roads are uneven, as there are no paved roads (just dirt and rocky roads) getting to the mounds.
