Flipside Cafe is a nice little privately owned cafe right by Park Lane in Sunderland. It's quite small, when you walk in there are 3 tables with chairs, the barista bar/counter, and a wall of board games and cards (which can also been seen displayed in the window of the shop). Nevertheless, I'm a sucker for these kinds of places :) First time I went I tried their Mocha....throw in a splash of brown sugar and it's a perfect finish to a long day. We also decided to play Cards Against Humanity (don't play this card game with your parents lol) and it was an overall great time. From my understanding, the cafe was to close at 6pm but I still noticed people coming in, although they weren't ordering. So I found out that the cafe actually has theme nights throughout the week to introduce new arrivals of board games or to just have a social night...I thought that was pretty neat!
Second time I went, I was with a friend and decided to try their hot chocolate. Same barista as last time (so sweet!) and the hot chocolate was nicely topped with baby white and pink marshmellows. I really love that rare cup of hot chocolate that's the perfect level of sweetness....not too sweet....not too bitter....just perfect! Despite it being a board game cafe, we just sat and had a nice chat. It's a good location for a catch-up or for a nice social night!
Another pro to this place is their awesome prices....£1.70 for a medium mocha and £1.40 for a medium hot chocolate....yup I'm sold!
