We almost joined seven years ago because they are open 24 hours and it was a smaller more intimate gym. We ended up moving to Carson or we would have. Upon our recent return to Reno, we needed a nearby hangout and our buddy Oz works out here. We all arrived as his guests and did our thing; afterwards we weighed our options and decided to go with $10 day passes. We don't always know when work sends us across the country. There are machines I wish they had, but the place is too small to house them. No matter. They have more than enough for a great work out. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the members were very polite. Maybe just a matter of respecting those "poor out of shape old people". lol. read more

Other than the best part being they're open 24/7, the equipment has never been upgraded and their bathrooms lately are not clean. I've been a member for almost 8 years and I'm used to it, it feels like a personal gym, but there comes a time when you stop and think. Please get some new cardio machines and add some more dumbbells, at least. It's time! read more

I joined this gym because of the group fitness classes. The owner, Paul, recently cancelled 2/5 of the 11:00 am classes. He stated that it was because the group was "disruptive". Wow. Actually, he just didn't want to pay instructor costs for those two classes. When numerous members complained, he retaliated by firing the instructor completely, so now there are NO classes. Additionally, I received personal training from this instructor at this gym, so that's been cancelled as well. Well, what I cancelled is my membership. Most members of these classes have also quit this gym, so Paul's actions have cost him more than just instructor fees. read more

We signed up for the 7 day pass and so far it's been working great for me. Just waiting for my other half to try it out. With the 7 day pass you are limited to the hours of when the club staff is there. There was a glitch in the system so we were quoted the wrong price for 2. We were contacted by the manager about the error and will discount a little once we sign up (6 month) contract. It's clean, small and very close for us. Oh yeah, 2nd time I did 3 miles!!!! read more

I called to get more information about the paid in full membership and what that entails. The girl that answer was rude, her tone was as if I was bothering her with my question. When I asked her my last question about going into the gym and signing up she just replied with a "yup" then I replied back "ok great thanks" and then she hung up. Not even a "thank you" or anything customer service relayed. The whole conversation was very off putting and left a bad taste in my mouth. It sucks because the gym looks great, that one interaction left me with a crappy feeling about it. read more

This gym is awesome! I've belonged to so many gyms over the years, in different parts of the country. I really like the vibe here, there is great equipment, in excellent condition, and it's extremely clean. I really like the staff and management. They really make you feel welcome. The music is cool, location is perfect, and the price is right. Its super convenient, 24/7, and it never seems crowded. The people seem nice and there is allot of diversity in terms of fitness level, gender and ages. Its also the first gym i don't need to wear head-phones.... live the music! We signed up two weeks ago and all I can say is my husband and I are so glad we did. First of all, it's super convenient as it's only a little over a mile from our house. Secondly, it has great, current equipment. You can link your phone to the cardio machines and you can also keep track digitally of your progress. When you join, you are able to get a free orientation for the equipment (which I have not done yet, but will soon!). The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They were running a special for January that we took advantage of. Sign up for a year commitment and receive 2 months free! I think it's a great deal. I'm sure there are other facilities out there that are less expensive, but I'm ok with paying for quality. As soon as I do my orientation, I am going to have a consultation with one of the trainers and get my body ready for this summer! read more

Management Doesn't Care About the Members The gym is clean, the location is good and the price is fair. BUT, management doesn't care about the opinions or needs of its members. They made a mistake and replaced popular cardio equipment with crap that is now barely used. The members and employees I speak with seem to completely agree, but apparently nothing will be done to correct the poor decision. Stubborn management will always ruin a good thing. read more

Flex Appeal has been through many changes in it's early life, and as they have developed, my satisfaction has improved greatly. As much as I would like to tell people not to go to this gym for my own personal gain (a quiet gym is always nice), I have to stay honest, because Nick (GM) and all the other guys he has there have been super helpful, considerate, and simply fun to talk to. The equipment has changed slightly, and I am happy to say it has just about everything that you can ask for within the limited floor plan. The access 24/7 part is also a huge benefit even though I rarely workout outside of staffed hours, it is nice to go in during holidays to work off those delicious cheat meals. Came in two consecutive nights to be told to come back the next day to sign up for a membership. Came in tonight at 6:45PM, gentleman was not in the office. After returning, he mentioned they stopped taking memberships at 6:45PM. I asked why because they close at 7PM. He informed me that he had already closed out the register and I'd have to come back. Good reason to sign up somewhere else! Otherwise, seemed like a great place. Hope the lack of service has only been an exception, not the norm. read more

I was waiting up by the front desk for my friend to show up. One of the male employees asked if I was a member and I said no and that I was doing a drop in for TRX. He said okay well you still have to pay and he started to ring me up and walked off and had another employee finish checking me out. Seriously? Be very sure you want to sign up for 24 months because if you try to cancel, they make sure it's not worth your while. In fact, the way they do it, it's not even worth their while. My story: My husband and I signed up at $59/mo for 24 months. After 13 months of payments, I decided to seek alternate means of exercise since I was only using the treadmill there anyway. My husband wanted to continue so I asked the "manager" for our options. He said they would impose a $150 cx fee and my husbands rate would be $46/mo. I have no problem with the $46/mo but for a difference of $13/mo for 11 months I don't make up the $150 cancellation fee. In fact, it is cheaper to stay on the contract. Now here's where they are foolish. My husband is so irritated that he is not going to renew in 11 months. So, by enforcing this cancellation fee thereby compelling me to stay on, they are not just losing my membership and goodwill but they are getting a bad review, AND losing my husband's renewal at $46/mo down the road; never mind the cost of acquiring new business which they probably don't even understand. At the very least, they obviously can't do the math. read more

With as many check ins as I have, I guess it's time to finally post my review for Flex Appeal. To be honest, even with five stars, I still miss my old Anytime Fitness on Longley, but the location just didn't work for me anymore. And I'm literally one of those people that if I get stuck at a traffic light too long, I'll use it as an excuse not to go to the gym. Hey, no judgement! So when Flex Appeal opened around the corner from my house, I had to keep them in mind. And during the month of November they were running a special that I couldn't pass up. There were no upfront fees to pay and they were going to honor the rate I was paying at Anytime Fitness. They are open 24 hours with lockers and all of the equipment you find in a large gym. Their cardio machines have all the bells and whistles with internet, tv, etc. I only wish they had one or two AMT machines to give us more low impact choices. The equipment is really new and all of it is in great working order. They have free classes for members including spin, yoga, zumba, TRX, and more. I think the classes are open to non-members too, for a fee of $10. Also, for additional payments, they have personal trainers, massage, spray tans, etc. They have a protein bar that is available to members during their staffed hours and protein bars, products and apparel available for purchase too. Overall they are great choice for anyone in South Reno that is in need of a clean gym with a ton of equipment that is open at anytime of the day. read more

This gym is so amazing. Everyone here is so helpful and always so happy. They all greet you when you enter the door and everyone keeps the gym very clean. I go here 6 days a week 3 of them I train with a personal trainer there. She by fair is the most amazing personal trainer I have ever had :). Lana Richie is her name. She's so fun to work out with. She definitely pushes you where you get the best workout of that hour or more you have with her, plus she's your best cheerleader. I highly recommend her to anyone whose looking for a trainer. I'm an overweight single female in what seems to be like the fittest city in the country. I'm recently divorced, not getting any younger and was F my life. I need to make a change. Did a quick yelp search for the closest gym and found Flex Appeal. I walked in on Sunday and was given a tour by the sweetest young gentleman (I can't remember his name but his initials are TC) he showed me the equipment, bathrooms, fitness classes, and with the killer pricing he had me sold. I signed up and started working out. The gym offers a smoothie now protein bar (might be out of my realm at this point), a chiropractor, and massage therapist. I walked in today after work and the same young gentleman remembered my name, greeted me with a smile, and asked me how I liked the gym. He took the time to even answer a couple of questions I had about the spin classes. The gym seemed to have an variety of people, like me overweight, some with a couple extra pounds, and those ranging to fitness gods. Never once did I feel out of place or awkward. This gym is amazing. Plenty of room and equipment for the amount of people that are usually here. Only complaint I've read was written by a flexer non worker outer. If you are here to work out this is your gym. If you come to a gym to just flex this might not be your place. The staff and people here are all amazing. Everyone is here to help each other, and the gym is open to all suggestions.
