Top restaurant - great food, friendly staff. What a fantastic night! Couldn't believe our luck finding this hidden little gem in this sleepy little town. Has just been bought by new owners, hope they realise how awesome the chef is. read more

Chef Raymond made me a delicious entree "cocktail" and a huge, nutritious and delicious main that made me feel like it was my birthday, not my mother's. The care and effort that went into my meal and catering has brought me to tears. The rest of my family licked clean their plates of traditional French Beef Bourguignon, dark cherry duck and pepper steak, too. I can't recommend this beautiful restaurant highly enough.

I've had dinner here twice this past winter and I have to say, the food I've eaten here was…read moreabsolutely amazing. I wish I could fly back to Australia each week just to enjoy the atmosphere and food. Don't be fooled by the décor, this place is definitely a hidden gem. The introduction done by Chauby never loses its sparkle; you just fall straight into love with her and smile start to finish. Their service is definitely the best I've ever experienced; you feel as if you are enjoying a delicious dinner at your family's house, it's so welcoming. The waiters are great, always making their rounds to make sure you're doing well, even Igor, the chef/owner and husband of Chauby pops out of the kitchen every now and then. They all go above and beyond! On the first visit my boyfriend and I sat outside. I didn't know how large the portions were going to be so I ordered an entrée before my main. For my entrée I had their French onion soup which is TO DIE FOR! I'm not a person who is crazy about soup but this was amazing and so filling. My boyfriend had escargot for his entrée and they were absolutely delicious especially with the bread they served. My main was a filet mignon served with some vegetables and mashed potatoes. I love beef and this was just mouthwatering, their mashed potatoes were like buttery clouds of heaven, I was so pleased! My boyfriend had a bouillabaisse with; flathead, prawns, bug, mussels and scallops, I didn't try it during this visit though. Afterwards I was so full, I wished that I could have rolled over and napped. During our second visit we were much smarter with what was ordered. We shared two entrées which was once again the escargot and also pâté. I tried the selection they gave us but I am a duck pâté sort of person so I didn't have that much but my boyfriend enjoyed the selection of the three types they gave us. My main was the French onion soup yet again and my boyfriend also had the bouillabaisse, this time we saved room for dessert which was the crepe suzette which I had never had before. I love crepes, French and Japanese; I just found it to be a little too strong for my liking regardless, we left happy and full! *Some things you should know about this place is that unlike most French restaurants I've been to, they serve relatively fast. I thought that I would have time to recover between meals but as soon as you finish they give you a small sorbet to cleanse your pallet and not long after your next dish. Also their menu is plenty; both times I went I wondered, "What would Gordon Ramsey say about this booklet?" He'd probably trim it down a lot. Servings are very generous, I can eat quite a lot but even I was surprised at how full I was after each plate.

Honestly, I was not expecting much, given we did not need a reservation for dinner here. But the meal was amazing. Basic but well done. Oysters were fresh, garlic bread...omg .. sooo yum! The indoor dining area has a fireplace which they light on cold days and in winter. A nice relaxing ambience- The nights when they have live entertainment are the only exception. If you can't handle overly loud noise I'd suggest you don't come on one of those nights as it can get pretty loud. (The live entrainment is usually on Fridays as far as I know). [Edit: Their lunch specials have gone from $10 to $12 and now to $15. This is honestly not worth it anymore. They're inflating their prices far too much for us to go there anymore. I suppose a good thing never lasts].

Some walking over from the adjacent neighborhood, so we thought we'd give it a try. We were glad we did! Once inside you walk by the bins of iced fish and the fresh seafood displays, pick up a menu and get in line to order. There's lots of fresh, local catch to choose from, mostly fried in some way or another. We placed our order at the counter, grabbed a couple of drinks and went outside to find a table. It's kind of hard to understand the garbled speakers, so I hung around the door when I saw that a person in line in front of me received their order. The seafood is very fresh and they don't skimp on the portions. I had a 'Combo' for one and my wife ordered their Fish & Chips. Even though it was delicious, there was no way we could come close to finishing our order. The Fisherman's Co-op is not fancy, but it sure is fresh!
