I was a first-time, long-distance customer, with most of my family residing in Port Charlotte. I placed an online order on the Friday before Mother's Day and then noticed the shop was listed as "closed." I later saw on the website that the shop is normally closed on Sundays, so I simply called to confirm two things: that my order had been received and that the arrangement would still be delivered on Mother's Day. Because I live over 1,000 miles away, I just wanted reassurance. I've had past experiences with orders not being fulfilled or somehow getting lost, so I thought it was a reasonable question. When someone answered the phone, I was immediately met with attitude and rudeness. She told me the shop was listed as closed because they were no longer taking orders. I explained that I had already placed one online and just wanted to confirm it would still be fulfilled. Her response was a loud and dismissive: "Ma'am, if you placed the order, then I got it." I was honestly shocked by the tone. I explained again that I lived far away and simply wanted confirmation that my order had been received and would be delivered. Instead of helping, she continued speaking rudely. I finally said, "If you're going to speak to me like this, you can cancel my order." At that point, the representative responded, "You know what, what's the order number?" I replied, "Are you serious right now?" and she said, "You gave it back to me." I'm assuming this may have been an owner if she was willing to cancel an order over a basic customer service interaction. In the end, my mom was innocent in all of this and deserved her flowers, so I didn't pursue canceling the order. The arrangement itself was pretty, but I will unfortunately never place another order at this shop or recommend it to anyone else. All this situation needed was a simple: "Let me double check that for you. What's your order number? Yes, we will be delivering on Sunday. Thank you so much for your business." That level of professionalism and kindness goes a long way. Edit after owner response*** Hello owners, "Irate" is an interesting description of the conversation. I will admit that I briefly matched your rude tone after you began speaking to me in an extremely unprofessional manner, because I was genuinely shocked by how aggressively you responded to a simple question. After reading other reviews and your replies to them, however, I'm not surprised by your response. I did understand what you were saying, but you never gave me the opportunity to explain myself before immediately barking at me about your business being closed. While you may understand how your business system works, as a customer, I do not. It was completely reasonable for me to confirm that my order had gone through, especially since your business was listed as closed for the following three days. Unfortunately, your terrible and disrespectful customer service continues even here. Instead of taking accountability, it seems you prefer to make excuses and twist the story to make yourselves look better. And, for the record, my whole family heard the way that you spoke to me, as a business owner! It's called "customer service" for a reason. I have never left a negative review for a business before, but the level of disrespect I experienced deserved to be shared. And, I did order directly from the Gladrich website.
