On Wednesday June 16, I submitted an application for adoption of a wonderful little dog, which I then supplemented with information in an email and phone call to their office. I read all of their online information so I understood there is a review and approval process, that they review phone calls once a day, and that there is also a process of going to the facility itself by appointment only and waiting outside until it is the appointed time due to Covid. I did not expect an immediate response. On Saturday June 19, Diane called me and I learned that the little dog that I was interested was already adopted. However Diane and I had a long discussion concerning the type of dog that I would be interested in. She shared that there were some new arrivals from the night before and would I consider coming in to see them at 3pm that afternoon. She shared that the Director - Annie, has a keen knack for matching rescues with individuals considering adoption. She then called me back to say that she spoke with Annie and that she was looking forward to meeting me. I arrived on time for my scheduled appointed and waited in my car until Annie came for me and she took me to the portico and said she would return with the first little rescue for me to consider. She brought me little Celia, she gave us time to acquaint ourselves, and it was a perfect fit. Celia chose me, she settled down on my lap, it was a wonderful experience. There was no need to see another prospective little dog, I adopted Celia. Working within rescue is very difficult, animals arrive from a wide range of backgrounds and needs, all of which is time consuming to process and care for as is working with those that may want to either board or adopt. Both Diane and Annie are very caring and competent professional women who care deeply for these animals and for those interested in them. Little Celia is doing just fine, she has settled down and is extremely happy. She is house-trained and has the most wonderful personality. I had no prior experience with either Diane or Annie, I highly recommend them to guide you in the process, and further suggest that if you are unable to board or adopt a rescue from them to please consider donating to Animal Alliance so that they can continue to save other animals in need.

My family and I used to volunteer here and I had fostered two puppies at Animal Alliance. The…read morevolunteers are great and the puppies are always very sweet. Adoption events were always great to attend and everyone was always warm and welcoming and you can clearly tell the volunteers are there to help the dogs get adopted. The volunteers really made Animal Alliance a positive experience and are really the only reason I am giving the shelter 2 stars. They are truly trying to help the animals there get adopted. The owner Annie, however, is incredibly rude. I never had a good interaction with her. No one is allowed inside the shelter and she will yell at you to move away from the door if you get too close. One of the dogs I had fostered ended up needing medicine and when I brought him to the shelter she was rude and dismissive. The puppy did eventually get medicine he needed. From other volunteers, I have heard stories about Annie preventing dogs from getting adopted out and signs of abuse towards the dogs. Overall, if you ever go to Animal Alliance, I hope you never meet her. The shelter itself, while no one is allowed inside, smells AWFUL. Any time the door opens, there is a smell that comes out and it's disgusting. I would not be surprised if the conditions of the shelter are not very cleanly. The smell sticks to any person or dog they bring out. I once met a potential foster dog and it was brought outside for me to meet and the dog smelled like feces and I had to cover my nose. Both of the dogs I ended up fostering went straight into the bath when I got them because the smell was too strong.

They played for two hours without taking a break Winard's drumming is some of the best I have heard - he truly plays with heart and soul and it is clear that jazz is his life. Rounding out the band was lead guitar, bass, trumpet, piano, saax, and bongo. Wish I could give you all the band members names (but I can't) as each one of them individually was masterful and together produced an evening of pure excellence. If you get the opportunity to attend a performance I suggest you make your way there quickly. Many events on rotation it's always fun to discover something new when I visit. The location is great too. Food and brewery right next door it's such a wonderful space in the summer! There is also Comedy open mic every 2nd Sunday at 2:30 PM that is free and so much fun to see.

They have a walking path through the woods with a natural playground and sandbox, a bird house building to watch and interactive displays, a mini zoo inside a house with small animals and activities including a treehouse. They also have weekly activities and seasonal events for elementary school kids. My granddaughter calls Briar Bush "The Animal House" and loves to put a donation in the collection box before we leave.

While the mission is meaningful, my experience exposed serious policy and procedural gaps that homeowners should understand before participating. When a major issue developed in my home, I contacted HomeSharing for support. I was told they could not assist because both parties were considered their clients. This left me without mediation, guidance, or intervention during a situation that ultimately required about $20,000 in legal fees to resolve. Earlier in my involvement, I was introduced to a potential seeker who disclosed a compromised medical condition that had already required hospitalization and rehabilitation. I declined the match due to safety concerns, but the experience raised questions about how placements were screened and whether the organization's policies adequately protect both parties. I also discovered that two people had been placed in my home despite a town ordinance allowing only one. This should have been caught through basic procedural checks. The Lease Agreement offered by HomeSharing did not provide the level of protection I expected, and in my case, it did not help prevent or resolve the situation. I served on the organization's Board for a period of time but chose to resign after these events. Based on my personal experience, I no longer feel comfortable recommending HomeSharing.

Lastly, the "homeshare" fee suggested I would likely be paying if they could find me a situation was the same cost for a small apartment. So why bother? It was not a good use of time for me.
