The cemetery spans 37 acres making it t a medium sized cemetery. It dates back to the early 1950s. They also host annual Memorial Day service, Mother's Day flowers, and a Luminary service. They offer in-ground burial, above-ground entombment, or a permanent memorial. The most famous person whose final resting place is Thomas "Sarge" Johnson, famous US Olympic boxing trainer. There have been recent news reports of family members, who have loved ones here, that are very disappointed at the condition of the cemetery. I thought it was good during my visit though, but I would ultimately defer to the loved ones on this one. The cemetery has a facility that can host wakes, funerals, or memorials that is located near the above ground entombments. Given the small size of Whitestown, this is a decent final resting place. I will admit, it is not Crown Hill, but it is a suitable final resting place and does a great job respectfully honoring those that are resting there.

Most of the parking is at the bottom of a hill, but there are a few regular and handicapped spaces near the entrance. The steps and ramp were cleared of the small snow we had, plus had ice melt laid as additional protection. #VH

I was on a mission to mark my grandmother's grave which had been that way for nearly 100 years. I'd heard she was there when I was 5 and knew, from the way people spoke, that being in an unmarked grave was a bad thing. I finally made the move to remedy this and the project didn't go well. Ultimately we got the marker placed, but the experience wasn't good to be nice. Seeing my first review, the Exec Director of Crown Hill reached out to me and wanted to learn about my experience. He was professional and apologetic and asked what could be done to make up for their mistakes. After discussions about what was possible, they offered to help me place a marker on another unmarked grave. This one was an aunt (my grandmother's oldest daughter) who had taken her life after a very turbulent life. This was another family story that was whispered about. The catch was that she was buried in Arizona, and of course, Crown Hill is in Indiana. The folks at Crown Hill reached out to my aunt's cemetery and learned they would accept a marker produced in another state and shipped to them. It may seem silly to want to mark a grave for someone you never met before. But my mother is 97 and still very vital. I hoped that I could remedy these two wrongs from the past and give her some solace. Earlier this month I made the trip to Phoenix to see the marker that arrived earlier that month. It's hard to express the feelings of relief and a peace that comes with helping their lives more fittingly remembered. No longer a couple of bare patches of ground, both now have a way for others to learn that they are there and lived lives that mattered to their families. From the deepest part of my heart, I want to thank the Crown Hill people that made this possible. It takes real caring to turn a major disappointment into a miracle. Thank you!

We first contact W&B because they came highly recommended and am I glad we did choose them! LaMonde Nixon the director was really patient with us and not judgmental of our family dynamics and dysfunction but helped us maneuver through the most difficult time of someone's life! From Ms. Norma at the front to Kayla everyone was so warm and understanding! As Mr Nixon was able to smoothly work with our insurance company and we found a plan that was suitable for our needs! The owner yelled at the dog to "shut the **c* up" before removing it from the room, then proceeded to make excuse after excuse as to why a dog was even there in the first place w/o the family being informed. Our loved one had glue all over her face, blood still in her hair, and was on the sheets she was laid on. The room itself looked like a catch-all storage room rather than a place where a family should be able to say goodbye to someone they love. When we addressed these concerns, the owner, Ben, was argumentative and dismissive rather than understanding. He was, without a doubt, one of the most unprofessional business owners I have ever dealt with. On top of that, the man handling the obituary and urn, Dan, had to be resent the same information twice because he claimed he had received none of it other than the marriage certificate-even though approximately 90% of the information he needed was included in the exact same email. You would think a funeral home would understand that families are grieving and treat their loved ones and their families with basic dignity and respect. Instead, we paid $2,500 and were left feeling like our loved one was treated like a piece of meat. I'm sorry that we didn't have $10,000 to spend for what should have been a meaningful and respectful final goodbye. Every family deserves dignity, regardless of how much money they can afford to spend. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this funeral home to look elsewhere. Based on our experience, this was one of the most disrespectful, unprofessional, and upsetting experiences our family has ever had. We did receive a refund at the end.
