In comes Dr. Freed, who was referred to me by my orthodontist. Dr. Freed gave me a far simpler and conservative diagnosis. His bedside manner, accessibility and responsiveness are also top-notch. I ended up getting a gum graft which went off without a hitch. It took all of 45 minutes and didn't hurt at all (despite the gory details of the procedure). I was dreading the whole thing, but I had no pain during or after the procedure thanks to Dr. Freed's skill. I also had a quick recovery with excellent healing of both the donor graft site and the graft itself. My orthodontist and oral surgeon also independently remarked at how great a job Dr. Freed did. All in all, I am lucky to have found him. I recommend Dr. Freed without any hesitation.

I was extemely nervous to have this procedure done which takes some tissue from the roof of the mouth (which regenerates) and graft it to the gumline of a specific tooth, but Dr. Freed walked me through every step of the proceedure and I felt minimal discomfort afterwards. His staff was extremely friendly and efficient and all of the insurance and co-pay paperwork was taken care of in a problem-free manner. I especially was impressed with Dr. Free's chair-side manner and professionalism which put me at ease. I was very happy to be referred to Dr. Freed. I had a follow up appointment and was very impressed with the results. I then had to come back and have another one done in a few months. This one went even smoother and the results were impressive. I had to go to him because my insurance was accepted by him and I had an infection. He barely numbed my gums. Wore the same pair of gloves the entire time I was there. He sneezed into them and then lied when I asked him had he changed them. I had to do my own fluid suction and hold my on x-ray gel, but I was trapped. When I screamed he said I was too sensitive. When the pain was so great that I cried, he actually told me to stop. I could say more but I would have to relieve the trauma. Unless you like torture, stay away!

In ALL my dental experiences, Dr. Vilshansky was the absolute best, so much so, that when I relocated to Ohio from Los Angeles, I called back and asked if he would take my insurance here in Ohio so I could go there twice a year. Dr. Vilshansky pulled 2 of my wisdom teeth and during the very first extraction, I went there in so much pain that, as he was massaging the area of the extraction, I said, "Dr. Vilshansky, PLEASE hurry and pull it!" He replied, "Your tooth is on the table!" I was SHOCKED; he had already extracted it and I had no clue! I took all 3 of my children there for ALL their appointments; they LOVED Dr. Vilshansky. I am African American and I believe he is Russian. He treated my children and I like family. I LOVE this dentist and to this day, I have never had better experiences, which is why I searched to see if he is still practicing. I read a review on here by some woman named Faith; I don't know her, but what I do know is that in the 5 years I was serviced by Dr. Vilshansky, neither I, nor my children, have EVER experienced anything she described. Dr. Vilshansky is in fact, up in age, but to describe him as "feeble" is classless and her review should be ignored in its ENTIRETY! As far as the review that stated his equipment is dated, I cannot say one way or another because I no longer live in California, but, what I CAN say is, irrespective of the alleged dated equipment, exaggerated negative review by a stray, Dr. Vilshansky is one of the best in the biz. He's the reason I overcame my fears of Dental procedures and why I'm compelled to contradict the unfair criticism by the reviewer. He's warm, friendly, has a sense of humor and epitomizes class and dignity; the fact that 15 years later I'm here defending his reputation and advocating for him speaks for itself! I REALLY miss him, (and Sandra-receptionist). I pray that all is well with both. If you want a state of the art experience and the $20,000 price tag that comes with that, then perhaps Dr. Vilshansky is not for you, but, if your desire is to have a first class experience by a dentist who cares about his patients, as much as his practice, then look no further, because it get's no better than this! My wife and I have been going to see Dr. Dinesfeld for about 5 years now, and we love our appointments. I had several VERY bad experiences at other dentists in the area, and then completely lucked out with Lanny. We drive down from Woodland Hills to see him (that's a pretty hefty drive down the 405 fwy), but its totally worth it. Pros: - Dr. Dinesfeld has an outstanding, calming bedside manner, and often wears Hawaiin shirts on the job - He runs a single dentist operation - this means he's it, and he is THE dentist you will see every time you go in - His long-time assistant Crystal is awesomely friendly and they have a great rapport - His appointments are NEVER stacked. Every time we show up 5 minutes early, and every time we go straight in. - Dr. Dinesfeld is a classic rock nut, and always has some great tunes on. He even plays jazz piano as a hobby! Cons -Um, well, the only thing I can think of is parking, but its not that bad. If you look around a little bit, you'll find something close. If you're really nice, Crystal will even spot you some quarters for the meter :)

As of last week, after he accidentally forgot to give me anesthesia and began drilling -- it was absolutely the end of my commitment to this Dentist. He didn't even say sorry for the fear and pain he caused at the beginning of the visit. He's cheap, doesn't want to hire staff. So he has his patients hold the water hose and other item while he's working on us. WTH! I was in so much pain after and when I called him to cancel my next appointment. I informed him that I was in so much pain after and now I'm really afraid to go back, he gave me attitude and said that he was going to be busy so I better come soon and call him back to book another day. No sympathy whatsoever for causing me pain and fear of future dentist procedures. I stayed committed to him for so long because its really hard to find new dentist and of course the proximity of my home to this office was convenient. But at this point, I'm no longer going to him. This is not the only incident, he's done this a few times and I always wondered why so much pain after the procedure --- even him cleaning my teeth was painful. No compassion for his patients whatsoever. Don't even bother going to him. Why support a dentist that truly doesn't care about how his patients feel. I want my dentist to do his job well. I am not ever disrespected nor is he grumpy to me. He is semi retired at this point and dedicates himself to his patients. Otherwise he would no longer be in business. He does not have staff so he is often a little discombobulated if his wife is not there to help him with the phones. The upside to this is that his costs are low and his savings are passed down to us, his patients. He's well worth putting up with. I drive from San Francisco to see him still. And, he does my mother's dentures and all the difficult work she needs with poor gums. She adores him as well. He takes good care of our family and he does so for all his patients.
