There were a couple restaurants that I recognized from a list of best places for paella, but they were all so busy or needed a reservation. We decided on Portolito because it wasn't as busy, the set menu was a reasonable price and had good options. And I'm so glad we chose Portolito. Our waiter was really friendly and attentive. He was the first waiter in Spain who reviewed our order with us to make sure he had it all correct. Instead of their paella, we tried their seafood fideua, and now I would choose fideua over paella right away. The flavour was delicious, and not as salty as I found paellas to be. They gave us good hunks of seafood which were nice and tender. In the set menu, we also had appetizers, so we chose the codfish fritters and baby squid. Both delicious: they were among the top codfish fritters we had; the baby squid was greasy but also why it was so addicting. We had drinks too: I loved their passionfruit mojito, not too minty, and a nice addition of the fruit. My boyfriend had an apple cider, Ladron de Manzanas, which we weren't able to find too often, so he was happy to find they had it here. The interior was nice as well. We were seated inside but next to a window so we had a good view of the beach and a nice breeze occasionally for the hot day.
