I walk by this place every day and had never been. Israeli friends of ours like this place and I thought, why not give it a try. So I waited 20 mins in line today and had high expectations. Munich has a lot of places that serve felafel but most of them Turkish kebab places that make ordinary felafel. In comparison this is good but I don't get what the fuss is all about.
Yes it's freshly made but my felafel was luke warm as were my halloumi fries. I asked for spicy but it was anything but spicy. The amba tahini is a nice touch but made the felafel a bit sweet, which is ok, if the heat was there, but otherwise, meh. I have eaten more halloumi in my life than I would care to remember and if these fries were nice and hot it would have been nice but mine was almost cold.
If I had to wait for 20 mins it better be great and this one did not live up to the mark. It's good but not worth the wait. Vegan seems to be drawcard these days for munich residents and this place capitalizes in that. The street food concept is another growing trend in Munich so I can see why people rush here. In Schwabing choices are thin for felafel and this place is above par but, amazing it's not. I will be back here but really won't stand in live for it :-) read more
