I spent many years avoiding plumbers, because they all have reputations for being WAY expensive. A couple of necessary visits by other plumbers in the region proved my fears were valid. So I usually tried DIY, with mixed results A few years ago when I knew I needed a real plumber, I found Ash Plumbing through the Better Business Bureau and took a chance because of their excellent rating. Ryan was professional, helpful, and friendly. And what a surprise... the cost was reasonable! The work was perfect. Since then, I've had Ash Plumbing back to do several of those jobs I've avoided for years. No matter who they sent, I got the same excellent results every time. Ryan recently installed a water line for my new refrigerator's ice maker. In that location it was NOT a simple job. But he got it done and in a way that will last reliably. Brown and Son came out charged me $85.00 just to come out and find that the baseboard heater needed a thermostat. It took a week for Brown and Son to order and receive the thermostat . When Brown and Son came out, the thermostat which they replaced was wrong color, and wrong size. and the knobs fall off when you turn the heater on. I called Brown and Son on 03/30/23 and requested the original thermostat because it matched what was taken off the system and a perfect fit. David Brown stated they threw it away and could not find. I went to use the heater on 04/03/23 and the knobs fell off and when you touch the replacement part, the whole thing sinks in. I called Mr. David Brown to explain to Mr. Brown the problem, and David Brown was RUDE, IRATE, and HUNG UP, and BLAMED The consumer for the problem. After a $15K+ plumbing job at my elderly mother's home, they left a two-foot-high mound of dirt in the front yard that looks like a grave. When I first called, I was told "it will settle" and that they "didn't add dirt," so everything would be fine. Five months later, the pile is still there, completely unchanged. When I followed up, I spoke with a man claiming to be the owner, who refused to give his name. He told me the reason for the dirt pile was that we had received a "landscaping discount" and that if I wanted the yard fixed, I should pay a landscaper myself. For the record, the actual reason we received a discount was because they initially misdiagnosed the source of the flooding in our basement. We were told their solution would fix the problem. When it flooded again shortly after, they admitted it was due to a different issue. That is why we were given a partial discount, not because we declined landscaping services. I explained that leaving a huge mound of dirt in someone's front yard is not a landscaping issue. It is unfinished work. I even asked if I waited a full year and the dirt still hadn't settled, would they fix it then. He said no, they still wouldn't do anything. When I asked to record the call to confirm I was understanding him correctly, he hung up on me. Leaving the yard in this condition, with no attempt to do the bare minimum cleanup, is completely unacceptable. For a $15K+ job, this level of disregard for the final result is incredibly unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Unless you are okay with spending thousands of dollars and being left with a mess in your yard and no accountability afterward.
