Two quotes were close while the third was significantly more expensive. We have a large ranch house that has an enormous roof with an attached garage. Yahaira reached out to me and provided a quote. After many questions, which she answered quickly and directly, I decided to choose Q and Q Services. Juan from Q and Q gave a timeline that was two weeks shorter than the others to start the job. As promised, his crew was there within a week to start the job. The roof went up within three days. The crew started early in the morning and worked tirelessly into the night. The gutters needed to be replaced, and Juan provided a very reasonable quote. The gutters were done the next day. Yahaira would check in with me to see how the project was proceeding. After the job was done, the clean up was spotless which was important since I have two dogs. I highly recommend the team at Q & Q. I'm looking to use them to replace the soffits.

M&M painting did two jobs for me - painted the garage and painted the basement ceiling (black…read moredryfall). Generally the work was good but there were a few issues: 1. Both jobs needed some touch ups as shown in the pictures. He told me to reach out to him to schedule. On the first schedule attempt, he cancelled at the last moment. On my follow up for a new time, he ignored my texts. 2. My basement lightbulbs were painted. Rather than remove them to paint in the area, they just painted my lightbulbs black. LEDs are expensive. 3. In order to clean their supplies, they used the kitchen sink, which was fine. What wasn't ok was them using the scrubbing pads I use for my dishes to wash their painting gear. I had to throw those out. 4. While I was ok to map the floor after they left to get up the black residue, I wasn't ok with one of them wandering around the first floor to observe other work being done outside. This caused me to have to clean a much larger area than necessary to get the black residue off the floor. What goes on in the rest of my space is none of their concern. You do the job. I pay you. You leave. Simple. I paid them fully in good faith that they'd come back and fix the errors. I can accept that things may not be 100%. What I can't accept is getting ignored when they've been paid but I have work that needs to be addressed. Many neighbors asked me about them as they'd see their truck outside and come over to see the work getting done. This is a new subdivision where there is a lot of opportunity. However, I've advised those neighbors to find another provider.

She asked me to help her get some other estimates because the one she received was extremely high. She had an advertisement card from DGB roofing construction Inc. which was local to Crystal Lake and to me a perk. So I called and made an appointment and they were very communicative. Because my mother's home is very difficult to locate they called me a couple times to find us and they were even able to come a day earlier which was great for me having come from out of state and other obligations I needed to manage. Now though, we were expecting to get an estimate my mother was so relieved and felt blessed by the adjuster named Nabil. He was so very honest, thoughtful and helpful and with all the other worries I have about an elderly parent; this gave me peace at heart. He was up on the roof with his equipment & I was also looking at the roof thinking it was looking pretty good. But while Nabil was doing his inspection from the roof and I was on the ground he explained how well the valleys were built, there were top notch vents and the flanges around the chimney stack were also very good quality. He told me it was a 30 year shingle and had probably had been put in about 15 years ago. I am so very grateful that there are still contractors out there with some ethics. Because it would be very, very easy to take advantage of an 80-year-old woman in this day and age. As the other company would have done and the second contractor I had contacted who wasn't going to come and look at the roof he was going to do it via satellite. No thanks! These are the reasons I am giving this company such a high rating even though we did not schedule a roofing project. If you think you need a new roof, I would recommend contacting DGB roofing and construction Inc. and especially to ask for Nabil. The inspection was free as well for my mother. Thank you again so much to Nabil! Keep him on DGB!

We were remodeling our basement and got several quotes, but Chris immediately stood out with a fair, reasonable price and a thoughtful approach that made us feel comfortable right from the start. What really set Chris apart was how involved he was before the work even began--and all the way through the project. He offered great design and layout suggestions we honestly wouldn't have thought of on our own, from flooring choices to lighting to small details that made a big difference. He also helped design the space so it functions like three different rooms while still feeling like one connected, open area, which completely changed how we use it. His team was on time, professional, and incredibly respectful. They put down protective matting as they went in and out of the basement, swept the floors daily, cleaned up debris as they worked, and treated our home with real care. They even took their shoes off before coming inside. It genuinely felt like they were remodeling their own home, not just doing a job. The crew truly felt like family, and the before-and-after transformation of our basement is incredible. There were also a lot of thoughtful touches that really stood out. On days when we weren't home, Chris and his team would bring our garbage cans up near the house on collection day, which was completely unexpected and very appreciated. Even after the basement was finished, they helped move furniture and larger items downstairs, which felt truly above and beyond. Our dog even loved them--and he's a pretty good judge of character. Throughout the entire process, they were consistently kind, considerate, and easy to have around. One highlight that still amazes me: Chris and his team stained the basement stairs to perfectly match our first-floor stairs. I honestly didn't think it could be done, but they took their time and absolutely nailed it. The drywall and framing work were done beautifully, and what really stood out was that Chris came back later to check on everything and make small touch-ups, just to be sure the work held up. That level of pride and follow-through is rare. They painted the ceiling black and were meticulous--no missed spots, no shortcuts. Everything was done with care. We agreed on a timeline, and they started when they said they would, finished on time, and left the space spotless when the job was done. To make things even easier, we simply picked out samples from Home Depot, and Chris and his team handled all the materials. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. All we had to do was make one call, do a little planning, and enjoy our new basement one to two weeks later. And honestly, our basement is now one of our favorite parts of the house. It's peaceful, quiet, and truly enjoyable. What we expected to be just a more functional space turned into a place we actually love spending time in. The whole experience felt exciting--almost like Christmas morning--watching it come together. The results completely exceeded our expectations. We're really happy we chose Chris and his team for this project. The experience was smooth from start to finish, the quality of the work speaks for itself, and we'd absolutely work with them again if we ever take on another remodel.

Schafer Review This is a lengthy review, but I felt I owed…read moreit to Schafer Bros. because of the great experience we had. We needed our entire main level remodeled including the kitchen. We repeatedly heard that Schafer was expensive. At the Crystal Lake Home Show, we spoke with several contractors, including Dave at the Schafer booth. We immediately felt comfortable with his personality and approach, so we set up a meeting. Dave came to our home, listened to what we wanted, understood our budget, and helped us with the design while keeping our vision in mind. After a few visits, we were able to come to an agreement on the work they would do and a price we were comfortable with. Dave was honest about what could be done within our budget and never pressured us. He listened to our opinions, never minimized what we wanted, and was always available when we had questions. He told us that when they were finished, it would feel like we had a new house--and he was right. Dave introduced us to Eric, who would oversee and do most of the work on the remodel. We were extremely fortunate to have him manage our project. Eric is a master carpenter who is meticulous, does not cut corners, and takes the time to make sure things are done right. His attention to every little detail really showed in the finished project. I can't say enough about him and the quality of his work. Eric also had help from Matt, who did most of the painting and wall work. Again, excellent work. He and Eric worked very well together, kept us involved throughout the process, and made sure we were happy with what they were doing. They also cleaned up at the end of every day, which we really appreciated. Our final thoughts are that we are extremely happy with the results and would use Schafer again for any improvements or repairs we need in the future. They helped us with the design, listened to our ideas, worked collaboratively with us, and then executed our vision. We never felt like they were simply trying to get in and out and move on to the next job. You know the saying, "you get what you pay for." We feel we absolutely got what we paid for--a beautifully remodeled main floor with quality workmanship and attention to detail. There is definitely a "wow factor." We are about a week out from completion, and when we walk in, we still smile and talk about how happy we are with the results. If you are considering remodeling, I would definitely recommend talking with Schafer Bros.--and especially Dave. And if you can, ask for Eric to manage your project! Thank you, Schafer Bros., and everyone who worked on our remodel!

We didn't have to worry about a thing; if an issue came up (as is normal with this scope of work), it was handled right away. Communication was top notch and we couldn't love the final result more! Because of that, we didn't think twice about contracting them when we wanted our garage painted, the floor epoxied, and a cabinet installed in our dining room. If this had been our first experience, it would have been our last. Frankly, we wouldn't even had made it past the quoting process. Communication was terrible and it took far too long (especially compared to the first project that was MUCH more involved). Erik was our carpenter for the kitchen remodel and is not only top notch at his craft, but is such a genuinely nice person that we requested him for this project. Thank goodness because he saved the day numerous times! He also communicated our issues to Jeff, who jumped right on to fixing whatever he could and trying to make everything right. Everything turned out beautifully (thank you, Erik), but if it hadn't been for the two of them and our previous positive encounter, this would be a two star review.
