Everything seemed good til Just after my year with new unit we start having problems with the unit. The owner comes out and says the problem is my duct work and that's the problem. So I got someone to come check the ducts yes there was a small duct problem but definitely not why my house is 88 degrees. Call different ac company out and it's the condenser and Freon leak. But the owner of strategic was so certain it was the ducts and would not come check the unit again flat out refused. My elderly father who is on oxygen lives with me and air is a must. I decided to test these guys out on a small order before entrusting them with any of my bigger…read moreremodeling jobs. Smart move. When I originally spoke to them, we worked up a rough draft with all the measurements and important details necessary for a quote. It was done on scrap paper and I assumed something more professional would be worked up by the boss. At that moment, Alex was not at the shop so I was told to expect a call later that Monday. I handed him my business card and listed their business on Yelp with hopes that this professional relationship would work out. No call came Monday, nor Tuesday or Wednesday or even Thursday. Last Friday I phoned them yet no one answered. My voicemail stated the details of my order and simply requested that they phone me back and tell me if they are or aren't interested in my order. No callback all Friday or Saturday and now I'm a week closer to putting my late January installation in Jeopardy. So I arrived at their shop before close tonight, and surprise...they couldn't find my information. Pile after pile and drawer after drawer of endless scraps of paper were quickly shuffled through before having to start over. Now keep in mind that this office has more Psalms and Bible Scripture excerpts than photos of their work... This incompetent dolt started hammering away at his calculator and came up with a number that he didn't try hard enough to hide from me. He then said "that's with delivery and installation, right?" I told him no. My company will pick it up and build a wall around it so there's no conflict. Back to the calculator he went...presenting me with the same exact number as before. This was beyond disrespectful and insulting. It was representative of how this "shade tree" operation could have fouled things at later and more critical moments. Consider yourselves warned!

Alvarez Plumbing has serviced our home twice in the last year, for two unrelated issues. Our most…read morerecent technician, Jacob Fox, came to service our A/C unit. They are very reliable and do great work.

Update review: responding to the owner…read more I want to correct several points in this response because your company's internal notes do not accurately reflect what occurred in our home. First, I have never disputed that the capacitor tested poorly and needed replacement. That is not the issue. The issue is how the overall service was presented. We called for an intermittent ticking noise while our AC was cooling properly. Multiple components were presented as the solution associated with that concern, yet the original noise was not properly identified or resolved. That distinction matters. Second, your statement regarding the refrigerant does not reflect what was communicated to us. My husband knew the price per pound. Cost was not the reason he limited the refrigerant. He specifically asked your technician how much refrigerant the system needed, and the technician responded that he did not know and told my husband to tell him when to stop. My husband stopped him at two pounds because he was being asked to authorize an unknown quantity without being given a clear target. We strongly dispute any documentation suggesting otherwise. Third, although your technician mentioned a possible leak and used electronic detection equipment, no leak was located. Your own subsequent visit also failed to locate a leak. The independent company we hired has likewise been unable to identify the leak your original technician suspected. That company has had to continue diagnosing and monitoring the system. Saying that additional refrigerant was later provided "at no charge" also does not erase our concern about how the original service was handled. By that point, our home was experiencing cooling problems that did not exist before the original appointment, and our family had already incurred additional expenses, including two nights in a hotel with our minor child. Regarding the signed paperwork, this is also part of our dispute. The documents were presented electronically and scrolled through for signatures. The technician's detailed narrative was not individually reviewed with us before signing. Therefore, repeatedly referring to a signature does not resolve our disagreement about what was actually said and communicated during the appointment. We have never asked Alvarez for financial gain. We asked for a reasonable refund so that we could apply those funds toward properly addressing the system with the company now assisting us. We were even willing to discuss Alvarez retaining the reasonable cost of components that were actually necessary. I understand that Alvarez chooses to stand behind its technician and internal documentation. We stand behind what actually occurred in our home. Those are two different accounts, and repeating the company's notes publicly does not make our experience untrue. We contacted your company for a noise not because our home was hot or because our AC had stopped cooling. What followed was a confusing, sales-driven experience, disputed documentation, refrigerant added without a clearly communicated target, additional service visits, additional expenses, and ultimately a loss of confidence in your company. We attempted to resolve this privately and requested what we believed was a reasonable resolution. Alvarez declined. At this point, I will not continue debating the same facts publicly. I stand by my review and my account of our experience. Any remaining dispute can be addressed through the appropriate consumer-protection and dispute-resolution channels.
