I just signed up with FiveChairs Talent.
Because I am unemployed and have been searching for the last eight months, I figured this would be something that would help me in my search.
Getting back into the music industry is tough as I have too much time in and most companies feel I am overqualified for middle level jobs.
I saw an article by Kelly S., the Director of FiveChairs, about resume writing and she wrote that her company works with job seekers on their resumes.
I went to the website and went ahead and signed up to be in the talent registry because it did not cost any money and maybe I would get some looks from employers.
Once I finished setting up my information, I wanted to look at it, but I have no access to the information. That seems odd.
I went in the website as an employer, but they only have access to talent in the Talent Pool, not the pool and the registry. That seems concerning.
Shortly after my information got into their system, I got a nice email from Mark N., company CEO, who let me know "If you would like to move towards a more aggressive job search and do not need to be confidential, please reply to this email and we will change your information to the Talent Pool instead of the Talent Registry." That was alarming.
It confirmed that there was something else that needed to be done to get better placement. That would be that you join the Talent Pool, pay $95 for a photo, and hope someone can use your talents.
After the email, another email came from Phylis H., VP of the company for a phone discussion on FiveChairs and what they do. That was stunning.
She wanted to set-up a call about the company where I could speak with Mark N.
Overall, the company is honest in its approach in what they want to do, but should be more upfront on saying that there is a fee to be paid to get better placement and bigger opportunities when employers look for talent.
Hope this is helpful! read more
