Absolutely disgusting. Went in here at 9:30pm one day to try and work out with my friend and it was…read morebusy yeah but that didn't account for the STUFFINESS of the air. IT SMELLED LIKE CHLORINE. THERES NO POOL AT PLANET FITNESS? How does it smell and feel like I just walked into a pool room with no pool... Will literally never be back. We left after walking in to the locker room. The smell was so god awful. The heat was so god awful. So stuffy. TERRIBLE! DO NOT GO

This place is becoming a complete joke. I am not sure if…read morethis is due to new hires trying to impress upper management or poor business decisions on the part of existing admin. In spite of ups and downs, I have been a member of Plate Fitness for over a decade and across state lines, and I have traded the quality and courtesy of a real gym for low cost, convenience, and somewhat acceptable conditions that this franchise seemed to offer at least for a while. However, I would still expect a certain degree of professionalism and respect. After moving to MN over 2 years ago, I have visited several locations but returned to this one mainly due to convenience, in spite of below average hygienic conditions, individuals with no gym courtesy, hogging half the weight rack in front of one bench, not cleaning after themselves, coming in socks, barefoot, or wearing flip flops, stealing equipment, smelling like they haven't showered in over a week, etc. No matter of the hour, most days the staff at the Roseville PF fails to supply the paper towel dispensers when empty and have had to hunt around half the gym to be able to clean equipment down. To minimize having to deal with all this, I have chosen to go during the graveyard shift for as long as my schedule has allowed it. Instead of improving the conditions of current members, the focus seems to be on overselling memberships while offering a constantly declining quality. New recent "renovations" have brought no positive changes. They fang shuai-ed the old equipment and started cracking down on people that are serious about working out and carry their personal equipment in designated gym bags. Of course, they offer the possibility of using lockers for which they conveniently sell locks or cubbies which can serve only a quarter of the present members. In spite of storing my gym bag away from traffic and against the wall or next to the machines that I am using, during the last couple of visits I have been harassed by several staff members half my age regarding their new enforcement of the "no gym bags policy". I have showed them what I have in the bag ( gloves, straps, water bottle, wallet, keys, ear buds, lifting belt, lifting chain, etc) and I informed them why I need my equipment with me. I have a very limited time to come in and do my workouts and I cannot spend 3 hours running between the lockers and gym floor while having to increase wait time for equipment. I cannot put my phone in a locker that can be easily broken into and risk unwanted access to protected patient information. I cannot put my phone on the ground or on gym equipment risking contamination of devices that I take into operating rooms or operatories. I also invited them to check my bag before and after my workouts in order to assure them that I am not one of the members dedicated to appropriating gym equipment. I invited them to tell me what makes no sense to them from the explanation provided, but I was met with "policies" and aggressive stare downs. They said that they couldn't let all members carry gym bags. This would be a non-issue if all admitted members would share basic gym courtesy to keep bags out of the walking areas and would not practice stealing, while the business wouldn't try to sell lockers. To potential members that are true gym lovers, I would advise finding a different location or in the event this is adopted as the general modus operandi of the entire Planet Fitness franchise, possibly find a different gym. To Planet Fitness owners and managers this may concern, I challenge you to revise your policies as well as the member and staff selection process in order to align with better serving your existing, long-standing members instead of harassing them ultimately leading to loss of business.

The place is inexpensive. I mean $28.00 a month that gives you access to a slew of machines…read more The place seems a little tired. I tried one of the rowing machines and it has a broken right foot strap. I'm mostly there for the swimming and sauna. It is a 25m saltwater pool which is great. 3 lanes and it's never a problem getting laps in. The sauna is close by and it's a decent size and heats up well. The thing I'm not a fan of are the people using it in street shoes and clothes. Call me a purist but damn. C'mon. Things in general could be cleaner. Look at all the air vents (I'm guessing this is the same in the ladies) and you will see just dirty air has been blown out of them by what has accumulated on the ceiling tiles around them. In addition, the showers look like they may have some black mold and shower curtains being up hung with rings and zip ties. No problem with the zip ties, but even a couple of the stalls the zip ties are only on half the curtain that is handing there making them kind of worthless. Plus a couple of the showers you see fruit flies in the shower area. That's pretty amazing considering this isn't a restaurant. Obviously the cleanliness thing is a repeat issue and I kind of want to get the salt water tested just to see how clean it.

I joined Xperience Fitness today, I was able to get my membership through my employer's Active and…read moreFit membership. I mostly like this gym so far, and there's only a couple things I would change to make it "five stars." Here is the rundown: Joining was easy, and the staff was friendly, answered my questions, and was pretty quick. The entry area is clean and inviting, and parking is all covered. The gym itself is pretty clean and organized (there were just a few things out of place, but that's normal in a gym this big). It was not super busy at 9am on a Tuesday, although some of the equipment required a wait (see more about that later). The locker rooms were clean (bring your own lock). I mostly like the equipment, aside from the ratio of cardo to weight equipment. There's two lifting platforms with barbells and bumper plates, another two squat racks, three bench press setups, lots of dumbbells, and many machines. There's a TON of cardio equipment including rowers and bikes. There's also a 25 yard lap pool. I do think this gym prioritizes cardio equipment way too much (not surprising for a gym like this, but the cardio area was nearly empty of people while the weight areas were full). There were 40+ treadmills and another 40+ ellipticals, and only a total of 4 people using all 80+ of them. By comparison, the weight area had 30+ people using it, and I had to wait for one of the two lifting platforms, there was someone using them and at least one other person waiting for them the whole time I was at the gym. I also had to wait for a bench to bench press. All in all, this is a great gym as "globo gyms" go, and if they added more lifting platforms and squat racks (like the members clearly want), it would definitely earn 5 starts.

In addition, the people that shows up for the classes are SUPER friendly and encouraging as well! I love the vibe! They generally turn down the lights after 2 rounds of going through the stations and blast music! They always try to mix it up so you don't do the same work out twice. The class is about 40-45 mins which is amazing if you don't have a lot of time. They have classes in the morning and in the evening, also yoga on the weekends! You'll need to download an app to sign up for the classes, but Jay will send you and email if you purchased a Groupon. For the first two weeks every single part of my body was sore! And after the first couple of weeks I started getting close with the other members, which is an added bonus. I've been going for about 6 weeks and I've lost 10 lbs and can CLEARLY see a difference in my body composition. Jay (the owner) keeps me on track with my weight loss goals, and keeps me accountable during the week outside of the gym. It is a little expensive, but it is worth every single penny and then some for me to be able to finally achieve my weight loss goals.

Cons: literally NO ventilation in the weight section! I'll get to the end of my first couple of sets and feel like I'm about to pass out from the stuffiness. It's also usually pretty dirty and people don't treat the equipment very well. Also don't like that the cable machines are locked at starting at 15lbs. Why not 5 like the other locations? The only time worth going is 5-8am so it is not packed, and even when packed, it is full of terrible gym etiquette. I am not even talking about cleaning off your machine after using it, which is overkill unless you are leaving sweat marks. But I cannot tell you how many times it would be packed and someone is using three machines at once, on opposite corners of the gym, with no phone, water bottle, towel, or headphones to even indicate the machine is in use. This is the same for people using three different sets of dumbbells while it is packed. Machines being in service for weeks at a time is to be expected, and even people being loud while working out, not a problem. However, even the basics facilities are rough. I went on a Friday and all of their water fountains were not working, no sign, and a bucket underneath one to catch a leak. I tried to fill my preworkout and a staff member told me they shut it off for the pool and he would fix it. He did not, I drank it before he came up to me and it tasted like straight chlorine. If I was a woman I would never go after 8am. The people are rough and unabashedly stare at women squatting. The no guests for basketball rule is a great addition, since the other St. Paul location (my old go-to) was shut down after countless fights and squad cars parked out front. It just sucks paying what ends up to be $35+ a month for a real gym that is not a real gym. At this point I see why people suck it up and go to planet fitness, snap, or anytime, while people who can afford it go to Los Canpeones or Lifetime.
