Before our baby was born we checked out several day cares to ensure the best fit for our family. As soon as I walked into Five Star Learning Center I knew this was the place. The staff here are great. During our first visit we noticed all of the staff had smiles on their faces. All of the kids seemed happy too. This visit was a surprise visit so I know it wasn't staged. To top it all off, they were the cheapest day care we had visited. FSLC offers more services than most other day cares. They offer 24 hour care for those parents that work shifts. They also offer a "Parent's Night Out" one Saturday each month. This consist of child care from 6 pm to midnight to allow parents to go out and have fun by themselves. This is really nice for those parents that may not have a close family support system and just need a night to themselves. Our son has been going to Five Star Learning Center for over a month now and I still feel the same way. I know our son is getting the proper care and attention he needs. He comes home happy every day and is hitting his milestones. I feel he is treated just as if he were one of their own. I am truly amazed by this place after hearing horror stories of day cares. read more

I would not recommend sending your child to this facility. They have an incredibly high turnover rate, many times I wouldn't know the "teacher" in my child's room and when I asked how my child was they would say "I'm not sure I just got into this room". When my youngest son went for a couple of months, he was fed egg TWICE despite my attempts to communicate with everyone that he has an allergy. It's difficult to make sure everyone knows when there are new people taking care of him every other day. No one ever knows whats going on, they keep personal records of students in the bathrooms, and when my older son was there (about 4 years ago) one of the male classroom assistants told my son that "it was okay to call him dad if he wanted to". I immediately went to the director at the time, she told me she would handle it. The next day she informed me that she told him to "stay away" from my son. He left shortly after to who knows where as did we. The newest director is rude and seems put out to have to do anything for parents. I've heard from former staff that they would not recommend placing a child at this daycare and they also do not recommend becoming an employee of 5 star. There are some staff members that do not deserve a review like this because they're great people, but overall, I would not bring my child here ever again and I would not recommend it. read more

Do frequent walk throughs on your child's Learning/Daycare Center unexpected & often. Ask questions, meet your child's teacher, look for bugs & a dirty environment. Inspect the toys & equipment your child is exposed to everyday. Ask for a cleaning list, inspect the bathrooms. It's your right as a parent/guardian. Be careful of frequent turn over in employees including teachers or other staff members. There is a reason for that. I will never send my child to a daycare center after working at this one for just 3 weeks. read more

Our family has moved a few times. We've been involved with 6 or 7 day care centers from New York to St. Louis and wanted to share our positive experience with Five Star. The staff at has been tremendous throughout our stay. Our son has attended 3 classrooms (young 2's, older 2's, and 3's) our daughter attends after school programs as needed (that flexibility is appreciated). Each classroom teaching team provides a comfortable, age appropriate atmosphere for our son and daughter to spend their time. I felt comfortable and secure dropping them off each day. The highlights: -art projects, -improved socialization skills, clean environments, potty training assistance and an absolutely beautiful and heart-warming Christmas Pageant. Payment, tax forms, sign-up paperwork and other administrative items were reasonable and organized. Drop-off/Pick-up is smooth, secure and informative. I know a lot of parents worry about outside child-care but I honestly never had those feelings after our site visit. I heard there might be a wait list for some age groups but if you are day-care shopping, I strongly recommend a visit to Five Star Learning. Overall, their staff and management have been first class, responsive and considerate. read more
