However, my excitement ebbed just a little bit when I asked Steve if there was a Hilton in Kenedy and all he did was ask me, "... Seriously?" I started to Google some of the lodging and I started getting scared. I've never stayed at a motel and I've (literally) had nightmares about wood paneling. Steve told me that this place was brand spanking new and the owners provided us lodging for the night since he was there to work. We arrived at about 11:00PM and Steve had to get straight to work so we just wanted to unload really quickly. First good thing -- they use key cards. In fact, they're not just regular key cards. They're the ones where you only have to wave it in front of the sensor to unlock the door. I know more hotels are acclimating to this system, but the only ones I've actually stayed at that do it are in Vegas. Now, our initial impression -- let me just shout out some words to you: hardwood floors, granite countertops, brushed metal faucets. The contracting company that designed and built this lodging is based in Houston and it definitely shows. This truly was my home away from home. I've heard that this place can get a bit pricey. But you definitely pay for it. If you're from a big city and you love to visit small towns, but still want the comforts and amenities of big city living, this is your place. PS. I had to edit this because I just remembered -- the bed is hard. I mean, I love firm beds. But this bed is hard as a rock. However, I didn't have a hard time falling asleep because I was exhausted from the drive, and when I woke up, I woke up with a buttload of energy and my back felt fantastic!

I drove from Austin to Port A to play a live show, and I decided to drive back to Austin the same night. I thought I could make it back but I was too exhausted so I stopped at this place at 3:30am just to close my eyes for a couple hours. Let me first say, the person at the front desk that night was SUPER NICE and this review is not directed towards him. So I check in, take a quick shower and then I get ready to go to bed. I notice there are bloody stains all over the mattress and it looked disgusting. The room also smelled very musty. First thing that came to mind was potential bed bugs, so I decided I would just take a short nap in my truck and then drive the rest of the way that night. I go down to the lobby and the guy working that night was very apologetic. I politely asked for a refund. He said he doesn't have the authority to issue refunds and that I'll have to call back in the morning to get one. So I call in the morning and talk to Barron, the manager. He was very off putting on the phone. I told him the situation. He said he will call me back after he checks out the room. He calls me back 10 minutes later. He told me word for word "Yeah the mattress was pretty gross". I asked him if he would issue my $40 refund. THEN he says, "I can't issue you a refund because you took a shower in the room". I told him I'm just looking to get my $40 back and I would not leave any bad reviews and that I wasn't angry about the situation. He refuses. I then ask him if he would offer me a partial refund. He said word for word "You will see the refund credited back to your account IF I decide to offer a refund". I said "Will you let me know if you decide to issue me a refund?" He said "Sure". It has been almost a week and there has been no refund. If he is going to make a big deal over $40 bucks when he knows that his hotel was in the wrong with this situation, then I have no choice to leave a review and let others know how rude and unprofessional Barron was and how he did not handle this situation appropriately.

A coworker and I were in town for a week for work. My room was filthy. The black countertop in the bathroom was covered in black beard stubble. So gross. There was also food under the bed and smashed into the clock. The room clearly wasn't cleaned thoroughly after the last guest checked out. My coworker's room had bed bugs. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Very little in the way of "hot" food options. Coffee isn't very good. Cereal container was broken. Won't be staying here again. I guess you get what you pay for. I always go between 6:45-7:00. I'm not impressed with the breakfast. Also, the wifi is not very good. I cannot not do any work from my room because the signal strength is very poor. The rooms are decent, AC works well.
