We had a car loan with this bank. We were required to get lots of documents from the dealership to get the loan. We paid it off in September. We were told we would get our title in the mail (no other option offered). We waited.
Its now January, and although we have been chasing the title for two months, we are now told by customer service, then consumer loans, and today in person by this branch manager that they mailed it out in October. We didn't get it.
They are telling us that it is our fault, and we need to file for a lost title and pay the fees which are over $25.00. Why is failure to receive a title in the mail the consumer's fault? The bank officially stopped caring about their customer as soon as the title went into the mail, more than 3 weeks after we paid off the loan. I'm sure that they earned enough interest to cover the lost title fee. I'm told that the bank in Bath just put titles into the mail and do not use any form of tracking such as return receipt requested. This is an important document why such a poor system?
As a business owner that ships product to customer, it is my responsibility to replace any product that is shipped but is not received. That is customer service. You don't quibble or deny a customer claim. You replace and hope that some day you'll get exceptional service too.
I'm writing the banking commission over this. I do not believe that we should be paying for a lost title that we didn't lose. If we had received it and misfiled it, then it would be our fault. read more
