Expensive bike chain and this branch is particularly unreliable…read more Firstly, I had to leave my bike for a simple repair quote and at the time I asked if I would have to pay something when I would pick it up, which I was told that there was nothing to pay, as I would have imagined (but I asked to confirm, otherwise sometimes you get nasty surprises) They asked me to pick it up the following day or I would have to pay £30 if I left it overnight. So I left work early to pick it up the day I was told, only to find that my bike had not been checked yet. So I had to leave work early another day of the week to pick up the bike. When I got there, I was given the quote and a bill of £35 just to check my bike!! So I obviously argued this specifying the person that I had checked that I would not pay anything for this service and then in the end I didn't pay. But they confirmed that I would normally have to pay £35 just to have my bike checked to get a repair quote. So I explained to them that no other bike store that I have taken my bike to for quotes has ever charged me since they don't do nothing to my bike other than look at it and that it was outrageous that they would charge for it. Not only that, the quote was for £161 and I finally got the same work done in another store for £83. Unbelievable. I will never even look at their window shop again just in case they charge me for it too!

Even though I had authorized a replacement of the shifter (£200), they were able to repair the existing part and included it in the overall servicing of my bike. They had me back training in one day. This is the second servicing for this bike (GT Grade 105). I've also had them service my Brompton. 5 stars for all work done!

Rather than be told that I'd have to wait until sometime later in the week, here I simply wheeled my bike in, and 15 minutes later had a newly installed cable ready to go. The price, for both labour and cable, was also good at £8. More generally, this shop sells the usual range of bikes, though focusing more on bikes for the road than off-road. There are kids bikes. hybrids, some road bikes (and some rather nice accessories for the latter) and a couple of token-effort, psuedo-city bikes. The normal range of accessories, from puncture repair kits to fancy hydration and refuelling gels can be found here too. The service from the mechanic was friendly, offering to adjust the cable for free when it stretched a few days into use. I normally trek to Look Mum No Hands when I'm in search of quality service on my Dutch bike. But with this place right on my doorstep I suspect my trips eastwards will become rather less.

I stopped into Apex cycles to see if they could affordably fix my back tire so that I could be on my trodden way and the staff here were so friendly, efficient and helpful I felt a little bit of sun right there in the Apex cycle shop! Not only did they fix my tire as quick as could be, they also helped me fix my brakes, for no extra charge, simply because they didn't want me to "have an accident out there". Wow, I'm not used to random people caring about others so it was very nice for a change to experience. They even helped me figure out why my bike lock was acting so strange (aka sometimes not letting me lock it). A little oil for the lock and a new tire tube, now my lock works great, my breaks are better adjusted then I could do myself and with paying for my new tire tube, I could happily be on my merry way! See I even forgot that it was raining outside! Sometime kindness can go a long way, I really appreciated their extra help and their reasonable price to fix my tire, they've definitely made me a fan and will be my go to place when I need some bike repairs and accessories!

The staff at Apex is very knowledgeable and I liked that they asked me very specific questions to help me find a bike. After a few discussions about what I would use the bike for I was shown a few items and able to make a decision on what kind of bike I wanted. I left the shop with a good idea of what kind of bike I would like and made sure to drop lots of hints for Santa.

From fabulous cycle stickers, to boutique tire valve covers, this shop is a gift buying dream. This chap really knows what he's doing when it comes to cool. The minimal clutter separates this shop from other bike joints. The beautiful bikes are lined up in order of brand with a whole wall of quirky and unusual cycle helmets in the downstairs area. There is also a little workshop where they fit poorly bikes. How cool is that! It's a trek out if you don't live in the area but so worth it for the brilliant shopping experience. A small staff means that you know who's serving you and you'll see them on your next visit, as after the first time, for certain you'll be back. Now all I need to do is buy a bike!

I thought this shop was immaculate looking with all the single speed , mountains and hybrids lined beautifully. I was too busy eyeing up the pink and blue vintage styled ones... don't get me wrong I love my baby but silver ain't my favourite colour. Downstairs had more bicycles with all their quirky styled helmet, I mean I saw a MJ styled helmet and a lovely flowery pink one which they did not have in my size :(. It is also a repair shop downstairs as well. Upstairs with the bicycles are all the other cycle accessories from locks, bells, clothes, repair kits etc. I bought my baby new bell which said "I love my bike" for five pounds which a really good bell not like my bad excuse for a bell that came with my bicycle. I loved my shopping experience here, the friendly staff really know their stuff and gave me a free bag (with their logo on it), which I carry proudly around.

The entire team, (but especially Dave) were brilliant. I didn't know what to expect and there was a lot of planning going in. The On Your Bike team was with me every step of the way. Once I got there, they got the bike set up quickly, provided useful info (the brakes are opposite of what they are in U.S. - good to know!). The bike itself was excellent and exactly what I needed for the ride. They even picked up the bike at the end for a small fee. They made what could have been a complex situation super easy. Barely and with a nasty shrug and scowl, he grunted about a 20min wait as he was busy with a repair - I'd only asked to buy a chain and 2 nuts - about 20sec of work! As I pressed him, one at a time 3 other customers entered, HE STOPPED TO SERVE THEM each immediately - with a cheerful smile. In between, I received my products as he could not deny he was now generally at his counter. Desperate to get out, I did not check the receipt: he had, quoted £9 then overcharged me BY £10.00!! Poor experiences like this are why I prefer to shop as much as possible online, and I give one star as I don't think I could give zero.

This is not the cheapest store around (bike lights are twice what they would be in Argos) but you feel happy to helped to be in a such a bike positive environment.
