I write this as my tush is killing me from strength class. Classes that are offered are HITT, HITT Strength, Boxing, Kickboxing and there are personal training classes you can sign up for. You are getting killer cardio and strength Additional "super classes"...aka class from hell.... pop up Yoga and some really fun events are offered throughout the year. Always something to keep you engaged. The last thing you will be here is board with classes. You can try a class at no charge. The gym has gloves you can use for the class, so no need to worry about buying gloves just to try out a class. There are several morning and evening classes available and classes also offered on the weekend. Ladies don't let the idea of boxing/kickboxing deter you. There are lots of women in here all shapes and sizes and holy smokes do they pack a punch! All off the coaches and front staff are amazing. Friendly and so very helpful! Even members are super supportive and even though we are all DYING we are having a great time!

I've only gone twice, and they are super supportive, allow me to go at my own pace and have a very friendly staff. Amanda is so cheerful for first thing in the morning, love that energy! You will sweat and feel it, but that is the class. It's the best workout and great change from other classes or doing it on your own. In the past two weeks, my weight loss journey has been boosted and really look forward to hitting the bags hard in the future. They help you with the wraps and can loan you gloves. My dad, who had a stroke, has a valid membership and we came so I could briefly record him working out for stroke survivor awareness, since he's building a platform to help others going through the same thing. I wasn't there to use the gym or any equipment, just to record him, but Laura refused to let me in and was very rude about it. I understand there are rules, but the lack of compassion and professionalism in that situation was really disappointing.

I was sold 4 personal training sessions for $77…read more I was told by Kay-Kay (general manage) that it was a winter storm deal to get people in the gym (regular value $288) and that LA fitness would absorb the difference. That it was no commitment, month to month if I wanted to the continue & rate would not change. I was also told that I would meet with my trainer (Marty, who was great btw) once a week for 4 sessions. That weeks 1-4 was body mechanics and basic strength training. if I choose to move forward it would be more nutrition and strength focuse etc... As we signed the contract she throughly pointed out to reassure me that there was no obligation. she highlighted that N/a was placed on term fee, N/a payments due. During my second session 2/13/26, Marty mentioned that I had a package to meet with him once a month. and he had to book this session ahead.. I told him that we were suppose to meet once a week from what Kay-Kay & I discussed. after the session, I talked to Kay Kay who was at first confused to why there was a misunderstanding, she pulled up the contact and explained that I had two sessions left and that I was PIF (paid in full).. She said she was going to honor what she told me and clear it up with Marty and give me a call. on 2/18/26 Marty texted again asking if I had upgraded to once a week package & again confused I replied that Kay Kay had yet to reach out and I'd follo up with her regarding said package. He texted back later that evening stating that he had spoke with the regional manager about the mix up and I was give two additional sessions. On 2/20/26 Marty texted and said tge Matteson location was closing and he wanted to get my sessions booked. I told him I had a minor injury and that I still needed to talk with kay Kay to clarify. On Monday 2/23/26 I called to speak to Kay Kay and was told she no longer works at that location and was directed to call Kirstin at the Chicago ridge location about training package... Kirstin was not available when I called. On Friday 2/27/26 I called Chicago Ridge and spoke with kirstin (who I believe is Kay kay) who said she could not cancel or make any changes and that it could only be done at my home gym (Matteson) I explained the situation about Kay Kay and what was sold to me.. she (Kirstin) directed my to 949-255-7200 la fitness customer service.. I spoke to Adonis, who quickly referred to my signed contract where it stated the monthly fee and agreement. that he could not go by "hearsay" just the contract and 50% buyout. I'm insulted at this point because why would make any of this up?? there was no $77 down or any sort of payment plan mentioned. I told him to cancel and that I did not agree with his verbage of "buyout" because that would imply my participation or knowledge of a "buyin"... he stated that he would need a card to charge the fee and I told him to charge the card on file because again I do not agree with any of these terms or contract that was probably altered after I signed... just tell me it's $75 per session... the bait and switch is diabolical... Adonis said he could not charge my card on file and I did not give him a card to charge so he said I woul be held to the terms of the contract. I hung up the phone and called Matteson back and Jake said he could not cancel and that I had to call Chicago ridge. I then call customer service back and spoke with Tido who said "like Adonis said, there is a buyout fee and he's not going back and forth with me about it" I told him I never agreed to any package or payment plan and that I would be writing reviews on the deceptive practices of LA Fitness on every consumer site. Not only is everyone super friendly RUA has helped both of us achieve our fitness goals. RUA classes have helped me lose weight and increase my endurance. My daughter has improved with gaining speed and increasing her strength, which has helped her within the sport of softball. She has improved her overall athletic performance. She has hit more home runs and throws the ball harder since starting at RUA. The encouraging RUA atmosphere also helps us both mentally to challenge and push ourselves so we can continue to achieve our fitness and athletic goals. The coaches really motivate you and you certainly get your money's worth if you push yourself. It's a wonderful environment as it is located in the same building as the ice arena. This club used to be Charter when I joined way back when and use to go to after I got off the train…read morefrom my commute downtown from my office. After two shoulder surgeries and being retired in December of 2021 decided to finally get back to my fitness regimen. Being a United HealthCare AARP member and getting my membership paid for by them decided to join without taking a tour of the club. After joining other than having Alfie as my fitness gurus who is in the process of getting me back in working order - very dissatisfied at the state of this club. Pads on machines are worn and could be easily replaced, men's bathroom/locker room is deplorable. I don't think it has been cleaned since I left charter. Smells, sewer flies all around, the mats in front of the showers haven't been picked up and cleaned 'most likely for years'. The ADA shower has the bench chained to the wall - for a older person or disabled person who would have to use it is impossible. The bathroom is a a mess - totally disgusting. The shower curtains are the same ones that were up when it was Charter Fitness years ago. Put something on top of the lockers and it was filled with dust and items left by members which was never removed or cleaned - locker are a mess inside - need to be cleaned. Totally disappointed in this club and would not recommend to anyone and would not rejoin - I only hope I am able to train with Alfie to continue regaining my fitness goals . Why spend the money to put in a useless sauna (one person fills it, two is a joke and three forget it) when the money could have been spent on cleaning and revamping the locker room so that it is sanitary - try paint and a thorough cleaning. Just to note: If you expect future members to join - forget about useless saunas and make your main concern cleanliness, general maintenance of equipment. Membership next year to this club is doubtful unless there are some major changes. Get rid of the infestation OF SEWER FLIES IN THE Men's BATHROOM and finally give it good scrub down, remove/replace the mats in front of the showers, so that a person can use without being infected by some bacteria. Totally disappointed in the state and cleanliness of this club - I hope that this review will change the manner in which this club is kept clean and maintained. If not, I will not rejoin and for prospective folks interested all up to you. But if remains in the manner in which it is I will not be back. Take a tour I wish I had - just remembered it when it was Charter Fitness years ago and the club was kept up.
