Things started going downhill on his 1st day there. The halls are empty - I always wondered where the nurses were. He was admitted at 2 pm and at 6:30 pm, his nurse had no information about him: the "supervisor" hadn't entered his info in their computer system. The only good nurse he had was Janet. His IV meds were often late and they took a long time to respond to his call light. My husband said some of the evening nurses would ask him "what are you here for?" Guess they don't review the patients' charts. The CNAs, however, were great! I would not send anyone here ever!!! Nursing care is almost nonexistent. This is a late entry as I thought I had already sent a review.

She is a very nice person and the facility itself is very nice and homelike.Several of our family visited and were very impressed with it. The kitchen was immaculate. The location is very handy for Melrose -Stoneham residents . Stoneham itself has a very good seniors center and Judy referred us to the Veterans affairs person. We were able to get her a veterans survivors benefit that will help pay for her care.I think the FH would be a strong contender if you are seeking a home of this type.

Brightview is kept immaculately clean. The people who work here are very helpful. The food is very good. You won't be bored living here. There are card games, craft classes, book clubs, bridge, Mah Jong, jewelry making classes. Happy hour at 3:00 you may have a beer or a glasses of wine if you wish. Brian Pattern entertains us playing the piano & singing as scheduled. I have been here almost 2 years. I'm happy I chose Brightview to live. There is Assisted living & Independent living, someplace for everyone if you need help!

They were always "too busy" to provide basic care for my father, who could not get out of bed on his own. On one occasion, my mother was visiting and pressed the call button for help. It took over two and a half hours for anyone to respond. That is not just neglectful -- it's dangerous. I personally witnessed a nurse speak to him in an extremely rude manner. When he asked what medication he was being given, she brushed him off, saying it was "a supplement and aspirin" -- yet he had six pills in front of him. They left him isolated and alone in his room for hours, with no one checking in. When he asked to use the bathroom, they told him to eat first because his food had just arrived -- and then they never came back. This is not "care"; this is abandonment. We had to take him out early because the situation was so bad. Aberjona Rehabilitation & Nursing Center | Salter HealthCare should be ashamed of the way they treat the people entrusted to them. This facility is unsafe, unprofessional, and inhumane.

My Aunt was failing at home due to poor care and lack of food, because the aids did not know how to cook. She was having pudding for dinner!!! The day of my appointment with Kate, My aunt took a stroke. I thought they will never take her in and we been looking at Nursing home. Kate with hospice agreed to take her. The day I meet with the staff, I was told they were residents not patients. This was their home. The food looked and smelled good all the residents we met looked well cared for and happy. I knew it was the right place. I was told by the night person that at 3:30 a.m. my aunt asked for ice cream and they got it for her. It was the best decision I could make. They gave the greatest love and care to my aunt. My one regrets is that my aunt could have lived there longer. she would not worry about the house, getting food and who was in the house caring for her. This is a wonderful place for your loved ones.

The "activities" director Robyn, is wonderful. She does the best she can with the tools she's given ~ which is nothing. There's only so often the old time songs will work. The residents need much more stimulation than given. The rest of the staff are overworked as there are not enough workers. Which I feel is a safety issue. The head nurse Kay, is sweet. They aren't quick at follow through, at all. My Dad had UTI and it took a couple of days to get antibiotics. Ridiculous. We wanted my Dad to be moved downstairs as a safety issue he has dementia . Never done. He instead fell with a glass in hand and got stitches. Would it have mattered if he was downstairs? I don't know. There is only one staff member for 25 residents. It's legal but to me it's SO unsafe. What if someone falls upstairs and the staff member is downstairs? The food is EXCEPTIONAL. My Dad loved it. The home, large, old, Victorian needs a serious update. The wood is dark and wallpaper outdated. The elevator is tiny. When my Mom passed they told me to be prepared as her bodybag would come down the elevator vertical! The tv room which is a tiny narrow room can't fit all wheelchairs and residents in it. It's horrible. They need to install a new room and large tv. Newer bright pictures would help. Here is the incident that makes me and my two sisters believe they deserve zero stars But, I'm rating on complete experience. My Mom and Dad were in a room upstairs. My Mom was actively passing. The night before my sister had to pull string for help. (hospice was in place). Fine. Next day my mom was agitated and we pulled string for meds. Us 3 daughters were with my Mom. We hear banging of footsteps coming up the stairs. It's the owners daughter Kate. Hands on hips she says, not nicely at all, we have to have a talk. You have to take it easy on my staff. Constantly asking for help. I said, "cut us some slack our mother is dying." She said we've been through this hundreds of time. If you're looking for private care you're in the wrong place. We were stunned into silence. Mind you our Mom was in the bed. I only pray she was unconscious. We reported her to hospice which had to write it up. We never received an apology from her. Kay, however did. I'm sure she did b/c I'm sure she complained. Complained, we asked three times for help during her passing. They asked where to send flowers, they never did. We immediately started looking for another place for my Dad. He was an elopement risk. I was told by the owners other daughter, Lauren, who works there, that they had to manhandle him back in the place. I couldn't bring myself to ask what that meant. They need more training when dealing with dementia patients. I'll end this long but honest informative review by saying that the workers DO have compassion for residents. Kate needs to work on her delivery and become a little softer. My Dad happily lives in a nursing home.

The staff are unprofessional and give the impression that they could care less about the patients. They schedule appointments and then give incorrect information to other staff members that need to attend. There is not enough staff to cover patients that are there and they are very quick to remind you of that. Just one example, when someone needed to use the bathroom and the staff were told because the patient needed help, after 15 minutes the staff was reminded and still no one came. How long do they expect someone to wait? The staff tell you what they think you want to hear, but if you call them out on it, they become snippy. I would recommend that no one ever put a loved one in that type of environment. They should be shut down.

The care and services provided, especially if you or a family member are in need of extra support, are world class and the Staff is passionate and thoughtful in the work they do. I happen to know two people who work there right now. If I need assisted living in my lifetime, I would like to go to Benchmark!
