We called that morning and mentioned the forecast, they switched us to the next morning when conditions were close to perfect. No hassle, no hesitation. Our guide, Rob, was as friendly and professional as we could have hoped for. We had a great time conversing with him about all sorts of fishing and boating experiences we both enjoyed in the past. He was extremely helpful. He quickly figured out that my wife and I were experienced boaters... we volunteered to drive as he netted fish and put them in the live fish well. He had some great stories of outdoor adventures and we shared our experiences about surfing behind our boat in SC. We caught our limit and let a few smaller Trout free in exchange for some nice sized fish. Rob cleaned them for us since we are in a small RV with no real place to handle that chore. We left him with a nice tip and were thrilled to do so in return for the great time and service he provided. It's not a cheap trip... but the marina is closed and there would otherwise not be a chance to fish on this lake. Rob had snacks and drinks for us. He stopped off for a restroom break at my wife's request. We enjoyed the trip so much that after just two hours we called it done. Rob offered to fish another two hours, but we seriously felt that we had gotten our money's worth and headed back to our RV with four meals worth of Trout. This outfit is definitely first rate. If you want a great fishing experience this outfit will definitely deliver.

Not the greatest experience. It's been a while and I'm still annoyed, so here's the story…read more I needed a carbon fiber scba tank filled so visited the shop with high hopes. Dude looked at the tank and asked if it had a visual inspection. Nope. Not required. Just hydro every 5 years. Last test in May 2024. Dude agreed DOT doesn't require visual, but he does. Annoying, but I agreed to leave the tank overnight for his $20 visual. I mentioned it was a high pressure cylinder. Dude said yeah, looks like 4500 psi. He didn't indicate that would be a problem. No call after 2 days so went to pick up the tank. The young lady helping me wasn't rude, just markedly unfriendly. She looked at the tag and said, "OK. Just the hydro, then." "You mean the visual?" "Same test. We just call it that." It's not the same, but whatever. She looked at the tag again and said it didn't need the visual after all. Yeah, that's what I told dude. Did you want it filled? Yeah, that was the point. The tank has a gauge to show remaining psi. It was at 3600, pretty close to the pressure it was when I brought it in. Stern young woman explained it depends on their bank pressure, which I understand, but would have been nice to know when I dropped it off...or I wouldn't have left it to be filled. That'll be $54. That's ridiculous. The hydro test was $40. No. The tank has current hydro. Dude wouldn't fill the tank without doing an unnecessary visual. Oh, ok. $14. For a short fill? It depends on our bank pressure...

Today we were fishing a stretch of the Big Thompson. A section where a permit is required to enter…read more We arrived around 8:30, and parked next to a family with two women and two small children. The days here have been unfortunately hot, so I forewent putting my waders on, grabbed my gear, and headed over to my favorite bend in the river. My wife stayed at the car, suiting up in her waders. About thirty to forty minutes into my fishing, my wife came to the beach and greeted me. We chatted for a moment and I could hear an adult and children approaching me. "Excuse me?" She says I turn and greet her, happy to meet another angler. But it went south from there. "I'm a guide here." She says. "Are you familiar with the concept of high holing? Because that's what you just did." I then turn quickly to my wife for some type of weird reassurance as I do not understand the sin I committed against her. If anything, she was coming to "my" spot, though the entire river is walkable and great fishing. I didn't understand. I said "huh? I've been here since before you came on the water." "No you haven't. We got here before you and we were on the river before you." Figuring she didn't see me, I broke it down. "No, I left my wife at the car to suit up and came in here to fish some time ago, in fact yall have been walking towards me this whole time." Now. At this point, she could accept the truth and then apologize, but instead she gaslit me, saying I was not there at all and that I had been alongside them the whole time taking up their fishing space. That's when I got super mad, because I was not lying but she was accusing me of exactly that. Also, I'm a local who has lived here ten years. I work hard and on my days off I love to fish. I DONT love being interrupted by some privileged woman shoving me out of a spot. I dropped an f bomb and said are you effing serious (which was a mistake, and I am sorry to have said that in front of two children. But she did bring her children right alongside her to "confront" me about her space on the river) Also, to approach me and make this accusation, she had to walk past 200 feet of perfect bends and holes and spots on the river to fish. I suspect deeply that because she had children, she wanted my wide open spot of beach so she could watch the children. The really strange thing is???? The river belongs to us ALL. Had she approached in a friendly manner and asked if I minded sharing said spot I would have happily waded up river to fish another spot. But she confronted me, said I broke rules I didn't break in an attempt to encroach on where I was casting, and ruined our peace. She loudly bragged that she is a guide for Sasquatch Fly Fishing. Two weeks ago I met MK out on the same stretch of river and had the nicest conversation and was so excited to learn of her business out at the Y. But when I spoke to the family about what happened they just shrugged and said "whatever". I maintain that maybe just telling your guides not to be bullies and jerks is a course of action. Won't ever be using this shop for guiding, shopping, or any other services as there are plenty of guides I've met on our rivers who were kind, informed, and friendly. This girl just wanted her own spot, and to flex her little "guide" muscles somehow. If you want really great guides, check out Kirk's or Estes Angler. Happy fishing everyone!!!

Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the United States. It covers 48 miles between Estes Park on the park's east side and Grand Lake on the west. It reaches its highest point at 12,183 feet elevation. At some point, you will cross the Continental Divide at Milner Pass while on the drive. I drove the full length of Trail Ridge Road on a couple of occasions during my trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. On this drive are thrilling mountain views surrounded by wildflowers and wildlife. I made sure I stopped at every viewpoint along the way. Each one offered a different view and perspective of the park. This is a long but beautiful drive. There are no gas stations on this road. Make sure you fill up before you leave in either Estes Park or in Grand Lake. There is an entrance fee to enter Rocky Mountain National Park and to drive on this road. Trail Ridge Road is seasonal and is only open during the summer season.

Trail Ridge Road runs through the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park. It starts at the Estes…read morePark, CO entrance and goes for 47 miles ending in the charming town of Grand Lake, CO. And vice versa, you can begin your Rocky Mountain NP adventure in Grand Lake and head northeast towards Estes Park, but Estes Park is the most popular area that a majority of visitors start from. Rocky Mountain National Park offers plenty of hiking opportunities but when not getting out on the trails, then you're driving this Trail Ridge Road. It can be accomplished in two hours without making stops, but you have to exit the car and appreciate the sceneries. I'll just rundown some roadside stops and vista points along the road starting in Estes Park... - Many Parks Curve - stroll along a boardwalk for distant views of the Rocky Mountain landscape. It's an okay setting, but nothing that may take your breathe away from my POV. And...maybe you need 10 minutes here to admire the sights but I don't believe they're memorable. - Rainbow Curve - alright well, I'll guess I'll be biased on this one because along the way it briefly rained and when I pulled into the parking lot, there was a stunning looking rainbow set in the backdrop that poetically fit the name of this stop. Usually, me (Seth) doesn't get lucky with rainbow views but I was fortunate and captured some terrific panoramic perspectives. I was grateful, lol, but I wouldn't expect there to be many rainbow backdrops at... Rainbow Curve, lol. - Forest Canyon Overlook - at this point on the drive (for the end of June), be prepared for very cold temperatures. It had to be 40 - 45 degrees and I immediately bundled up in a winter jacket while still wearing shorts, lol. It's a quick walk to the overlook in really windy and brisk conditions. I couldn't wait to return to the car, lol. But, the views here showcased a desolate tundra landscape with alpine mountains hovering beside the skyline. - Lava Cliffs Overlook - a lot of the cliffs still had snow covering them so there really weren't dramatic vantage points at this stop. Plus, the wind was howling so hard, I sprinted back to the car! - Gore Range Overlook - the Gore Range Mountains were just too far off in the distance to really admire any quality sightseeing. You could skip this stop. - Alpine Visitor Center - a MUST STOP. This is the summit of Rocky Mountain NP. The Visitor Center and Trail Ridge Store stand at 11,796 feet above sea level. But....while here, I think it's imperative to hike ALPINE RIDGE TRAIL, or otherwise known according to the trailhead sign as "Huffers Hill". Alpine Ridge Trail goes up a staircase for maybe half a mile to the official top of it all at 12,005 feet above sea level. You can take a photo with the 12,005 foot sign, but it's nothing special and not nearly as colorful a sign as the one high atop Pikes Peak. On the return steps back down to the VC and Trail Ridge Store, you get some photogenic views of not just the parking lot and confirming how high up you are, but also just the general vast remoteness of Rocky Mountain NP. The park is impressive on a wide range scale, but for me, I was thinking about getting into Utah to witness more colorful surroundings. You can grab a hot chocolate inside the store and souvenirs. Plus, it's a chance to briefly relax and catch your oxygen considering how thin the air is up there. - Medicine Bow Curve - short stop with more brownish looking tundra and Medicine Bow Mountain set far off in the distance. - Continental Divide - cool looking sign that's worthy of grabbing a picture. It says..."the Great Divide separates drainage to the Atlantic Ocean from the Pacific Ocean. It traverses America from Alaska almost to Cape Horn". While here, be on the lookout for a gang of elk that according to other visitors I spoke with, regularly graze beside the lake here at the Continental Divide. And yet, I happened to spot a moose walking along the banks. Viewing a moose was a nice way to conclude the drive. Finally, ending the journey in the pioneer town of Grand Lake, CO, I grabbed some comforting barbecue at the Sagebrush BBQ & Grill. Overall, the Trail Ridge Road drive cutting through the center of Rocky Mountain National Park was eventful at times, but had many lulls in between. I found my thoughts wandering at times. I really wanted wow factor moments but felt too much like I was going through the motions of completing the drive for the sake of it. I know Rocky Mountain NP gets high praise from visitors, but I never connected on a deeper level. Regardless of my sobering tone, just being out among nature will always be a winning formula for me.

What a HIGH FLYING establishment!…read more The booking process = easy peasy. The staff = absolutely kickass. The location = beauty on beauty. The fish = YOU CATCH 'EM. My husband and I had a standout day with our very cool guide, Sarah. She was knowledgeable, fun and chill. Nothing more you could want in a guide! It was early June so the runoff was pretty intense but the fish were still biting. We caught a total of 5 fish! Truthfully, we should have caught more but our reflexes were a bit rusty haha. :D We had an epically amazing day! In fact, we were suppose to have a second day when the weather took a turn for the worst. Sarah was a champ and warned us the day of before we left our home, which is about an hour and half away from Estes. She even was able to get us a full refund for the second day booking due to weather, which many fly fishing services do not provide. It was such a SOLID! With that kind of care for your clients, I'll never use another fly fishing service in Estes. We cannot wait to go back for another fly fishing excursion soon!
