The Moccasin Fish Hatchery is a surprise and delight for families. Located at the bottom of Priest…read moreGrade in Moccasin, where the Hetch Hetchy Water passes through a fish hatchery offering free admission and free fish food for visitors to feed the fish, it is a perfect outing for families. Whether visiting Groveland or passing through (or even a local), it's worth the stop to see the numerous trout and variety of fish. Growing up here, I remember visiting with the Tenaya or my Grandmother, and now I share it with my son and our friends. The hatchery also provides an educational experience, with the opportunity to learn about the life cycle of fish and the importance of conservation. Right now, in the Show Fish Section, a super special, rare blue trout is swimming about the pool. The impressive collection of itty bitty baby trout of various sizes up to mammoth-sized trout makes it a fun experience for all. The endless amount of free fish food creates a frenzy as you walk along the canals and toss the food in.

Mark was kind enough to supply all the gear (rods, waders, boots), the only thing i brought was my fishing license. Mark was very friendly and is an excellent guide. one on one casting lessons was also part of the experience. I like that his teaching style was more laidback and the instructions were not too technical. All in all, me and my Dad had an awesome time, were taught basic casting, and caught 8 good sized trout total. I cant wait to schedule another guided trip. Good value for money! I highly recommend his guide service to all Yelpers.
