I visited this cafe/restaurant a few times while working in the village of Portmagee during summer. The counter staff were very friendly and the seating area was cosy and clean.
During good weather there is a terrace out the back that looks directly out onto the channel and Valentia Island, and a charming little bay window to sit in facing the street. The bathroom appeared to be wheelchair accessible.
The first time I was there I only ordered a scone with jam and cream, which was pricey (€2.70) but possibly worth it since the place is run by the first female pastry chef in Ireland. All of the hot meals and baked goods are made onsite apparently.
The second time I was there I had homemade chicken and mushroom soup with soda bread and butter on the side (€3.75 I think) and pancakes with maple syrup and fresh cream (about the same price as the soup). The soup was amazing, but I think I've had slightly better pancakes before though.
I'd definitely recommend the place. read more
