A small gesture of goodwill in this situation would have reinforced customer loyalty and reflected an appreciation for a long-standing relationship. As a Black customer, this interaction also contributed to a broader concern I have experienced over the years regarding how Black patrons are sometimes treated in businesses that rely heavily on our community's support.
