The customer service my family received here last sunday was awful. My toddler had fallen and cut his head, which we thought may need stitches. I called to confirm they can do stitches at the urgent care and brought my son in. We filled out all the paperwork, payed our co-pay and waited in the waiting room for around 30 minutes before the receptionist, Jason, came and asked if he could look at the cut. Then he called us to the front counter and said that the doctor couldn't do the stitches because it would cause more scaring then if a specialist did it. We said we were not worried about a scare (the cut was barely longer then a fingernail) and we were still unsure if it really needed stitches or could just be glued shut and wanted to see a doctor. An M.A. came out the waiting room front counter and said "this is going to need stitches and we cant do it here, it would be better done by a specialist at primary children's so it won't scar." and when we again said we really aren't worried about the scar and we were told they can in fact do stitches there, she replied that it can be hard to numb a 2 year old. Right then I knew it had nothing to do with the fact that they couldn't take care of my son, they just didn't want to. I could not believe they were sending away a toddler with a head injury with out even taking us back to a room to look at him or anything. They gave us a map to the primary children's outpatient services in Riverton. I told Jason at the front counter that I was pretty sure they were closed on Sunday, he went to the back to ask someone ( the MA I am assuming) and he reassured us they were open. We drove to Primary Children's and they were Closed. I could not believe they refused service to us, and sent us to a CLOSED office. We ended up at a different urgent care, who took fabulous care of us (and no, my son did not need stitches he only needed durabond). I called and again talked to Jason, and told him I was upset they sent us away and told us to go somewhere that was closed. He never once apologized or anything. The only thing he told me was to call back the next day and I could speak to a manager. I called back and the manager I spoke with (Julie) sounded concerned by our experience and upset that they made this kind of medical decision at the front counter and never even had the doctor look at my son. She said she would be finding out what happened and looking into it. I do appreciate that she seemed concerned and only hope the "professionals" in charge get either written up or something for how we were treated. This is an urgent care, you shouldn't be able to refuse service just because a child may cry, or send someone to a different facility that is closed. I will never step foot in this urgent care again, and will make sure everyone I know knows about how they treat their patients. read more
