One day, on a Monday, I went to deposit a check and the teller tells me that I don't have an account with key. I didn't know what she was talking about. I had some one hack my account and do a direct mobile deposit of a check. It bounced and key wanted to do an investigation. I even filled out an affidavit attesting to what I knew of the transaction. I had no idea who it was and what it was for. No one contacted me about such a deposit and I knew nothing about the check that was deposited. But regardless the bank's investigation somehow lead them to conclude that they wanted to end their relationship with me so they decided to close my account without telling me anything. The teller said the closed my account on the preceding Friday as it was Monday morning when I went to deposit the check I had. Instead of calling me to inform of this they just closed my account and snail mailed me a check for the balance on my account. As a result I had no money to live on for 3 weeks waiting for my check to arrive in the mail. I asked for a new check to be made and handed to me at the bank but they said they were not allowed to until 15 business days had past. Finally after 16 business days I went into the bank to try to get a new check issued to me. Even then they said they couldn't do it without speak to their corporate office. Then finally after 18 business they issued me a new check for my money. During this time all my direct payments got denied so I incurred over $300 worth of penalties for non-payment of my bills as the account was closed. The bank is unwilling to reimburse me for the penalties. So don't ever walk into key bank as they don't care about you. I had been a customer for more than 25 years and that's how they treated me. Imagine how they would treat a new customer. I called their National number to request assistance and they had nothing to offer. So I have had to live without any money for more than 3 weeks. And the penalties for insufficient funds which I have to pay now. My rent payment also bounced which was then more than 2 weeks late because of the bank. Luckily I was able to get family to loan me the cash for rent otherwise I would have gotten evicted. DON'T EVER BANK WITH KEY BANK THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
