Dr. Nick and team are the best! They work so hard to make sure my son is comfortable and enjoys going to see the dentist. Highly recommend them for any of your pediatric dentistry needs!

Nick and his staff are amazing - we have been coming since 2019! Most importantly my son loves coming to THIS dentist and feels comfortable every time. Thanks Nick & the team!!

Wonderful experience for my kids. Office is very clean, has with games on Ipads and movies to watch and prizes for afterwards. Both the Dr. and assistant made sure my kids were comfortable and had very good experiences which was most important to me. They also seem to accept all insurances. Can't say enough good things about him, highly recommend!!

Dr. Nick is amazing! My son had a terrible first experience with another dentist but with Dr. Nick, it went so incredibly well, I couldn't believe it. He is so patient. He let my son pick what movie he wanted to watch, then spent a few minutes walking him through the process and what he was going to do, let him touch the tools that would go inside his mouth, etc. I could tell my son felt safe. Separately, I really appreciate how covid cautious he is. Wish I could give him 10 stars!

Do you do pediatric dental surgery with sedation as well?

Hello Melinda, at this time we do not offer dental surgery with any type of sedation (No General Anesthesia or Oral Sedation) we do offer Nitrous Oxide which is considered anxiolysis (anxiety reduction)

They have changed their front desk staff who seem to be much friendlier as well. Also, they now have an in-office therapy dog who is SO cute and always comes to greet when I am in the waiting room! Their dental hygienists (their past ones and current one) are always so friendly and kind, and you can tell they are very passionate about dental health and they are always happy to explain what they are doing and educate how to maintain dental health. And I am a huge baby so I appreciate that they always give me numbing cream to make me more comfortable! Going to the dentist is never fun, but I feel I am in good hands at Solana Family Dental!

After several years as a patient, I can no longer recommend SFD…read more Their approach to care often felt alarmist--every visit seemed to bring a new, urgent recommendation: replace fillings, crowns, add Invisalign, get a night guard. It became difficult to distinguish between ethical care and aggressive upselling, which ultimately eroded my trust. The turning point came when I agreed to replace a perfectly functional crown based solely on its age. The procedure was uncomfortable, but what stood out most was what happened just before the new crown was placed: while sitting in the chair with exposed, sensitive dentin, I was handed an electronic signature pad and told to sign a form--sight unseen. The dental assistant couldn't explain what I was signing, only that it was required before continuing. In pain and vulnerable, I felt pressured to sign what turned out to be a release of liability regarding the crown's fit and color--before it was even placed. That didn't meet my expectation of informed consent--it felt coercive. I insisted on seeing the form, and after nearly 20 minutes, they finally projected it onto a wall. Still, the message was clear: sign now or remain in pain. Under duress, I signed as no alternative was offered. Afterward, I voiced my concerns to Dr. Sandler. Rather than taking accountability, she blamed the software, dismissing my experience. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the distress caused. I've never sued anyone and don't plan to start now--but this experience crossed a line. I understand the need for legal protection, but demanding a release at such a vulnerable moment, without explanation or opportunity to review it, felt unethical. Since then, I've had unexpected difficulty scheduling cleanings--something I've seen echoed in reviews by others who didn't leave 5-star ratings. I can't say for sure it's retaliation, but it fits a troubling pattern. SFD may work for others, but based on my experience, I'm not comfortable with their transparency or consent practices. Not taking responsibility at the time--or addressing it since--has broken my trust.

Recently, I attempted to give her the benefit of the doubt and came in again because sedation was needed. During the last appointment, I overlooked her dog running around the office, almost escaping out the front door of the building, because I love dogs, though was thinking pet hair floating around a space clients have their mouths open isn't ideal. The final level of completely unprofessional and unethical behavior, however, came today when she texted to schedule a followup appointment to complete treatment. While texting back and forth to find a good time to come in, I asked if I could make a business suggestion. She asked what I meant, so with every intent on being helpful I mentioned her website address as it relates to how clients see it, "delmarpedo.com", in that "pedo" these days is mostly used as shorthand for pedophile. As she said I am the only one who ever pointed this out, I replied that it's likely because it is an awkward conversation and maybe she should check with a trusted friend. This was all it took to have her refuse to communicate with my children and me about follow up treatment. She made a point of telling me as of May, she would no longer serve Medi-Cal patients, I assume to shame me for having Medi-Cal at present and to assuage her own tender ego. When she recently gave up her own office to share space with another practice, I assumed it was that the rent was high and she didn't have enough clients to stay there which is why I mentioned the web address. Being the "pedo" dentist of Del Mar, might be an extra bad look these days with the Epstein Files in the media, so my bringing it up was done in the spirit of helping a business owner who might not have taken the connotation into account. As she clearly looks down on her Medi-Cal clients, she was unable to see me as someone who could help her. Unfortunately, with this continuous pattern of poor behavior, I don't think anyone can.

When I displayed my concern, he stepped out of his field of dentistry and said that I had "migraines" which was completely false. He then referred me to an endodontist who I had to pay extra for & said that there was nothing wrong with Dr Britons work and also claimed I had migraines. They both stepped out of their dental field to say this to me. Feeling hopeless, in pain and misunderstood- they made me feel like they did not want to help. Months down the road after Dr Briton told me nothing was wrong and me still feeling EXTREME temple pain, I continued searching for answers so I talked to my doctor and health coach about the issue and they referred me to a biological dentist who found 4 infections in my jaw and took out my previously filled root canal Dr Briton worked on. Now months down the road, Dr Briton has denied to give me a refund claiming his work was "perfect". He missed 4 infections in my jaw, and claiming the root canal tooth was not infected still. My new dentist confirmed it was still infected so he took it out immediately. The temple pain/ head pain was from traumatic trigeminal injury from the infections. After working with a new eastern medicine doctor she has calmed my trigeminal nerve down tremendously and I am in practically no pain now. I have never had any diagnosis of a migraine. To be treated how these two dentists treated me I do not wish anyone to encounter. For a dentist Dr Briton (and his referral endodontist) to step out of their branch of work to make a patient feel bad by claiming the patient has migraines when in fact, it's from dental trauma and dental infections.

You're greeted with a personal tour, calming vibes, and a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Trudeau himself. It all feels very bespoke and premium--because it is. And you'll be paying for it. The hygienists and techs are genuinely wonderful--skilled, gentle, and clearly take pride in their work. But behind the warm welcome and polished experience is a persistent push for additional dental services, whether you need them or not. In my case, I was strongly encouraged to get a deep gum cleaning--a procedure I've since been told by multiple dentists was unnecessary. I get the impression this is a standard "recommendation" for most new patients. Pricing is higher than other practices I've visited, and the billing system feels stuck in the past. There's no online payment option, and if you move without updating your address, they won't hesitate to send you to collections. Miss an appointment they scheduled for you? That'll be a $100 no-show fee. Overall, if you're looking for a very polished, high-touch dental experience and don't mind paying extra--or getting more work than you likely need--this might be the place for you. Just make sure your calendar and address are perfectly up to date.
