Dr. Nick and the team are true professionals with a gentle and kind bedside manner. The office is inviting and fun for kids with a waiting game room, bright and airy dental work space, vivid colors and lots of TVs per dental chair to keep the kids entertained and distracted during the dental procedures. He uses kid-friendly language to explain things if the child has any questions. He uses laughing gas and local anesthesia for the majority the dental treatments (if needed). "When can we come back!?!" This was my kids reaction after leaving First Tooth after our first visit this week. They quickly forgot all about their nerves after we walked in and saw how kid friendly everything and everyone was. Dr. Nick and his staff set a high bar for what a pediatric dental appointment should be like and we are so happy we found this office and really wish we had found them earlier. They aren't just kid friendly because they have a great movie selection and treasure chest and tablet waiting room, that is all great but what sets them apart is how everyone in the office is sensitive to the kid's needs and how they are doing throughout the appointment. They genuinely care for each child and strive to make sure the child has the best possible experience. From giving the kids choices of what to watch (2 screens per chair so the child always has a great view of whatever movie they chose) and what flavor toothpaste they'd like, this all helps the kids feel involved, excited, and happily distracted throughout the visit. Dr. Nick is also very involved with the kid's cleaning more than just a quick peek at the end of the cleaning. He explains what is going on with the child's teeth and gives tips on how to best help manage whatever the situation is. The office is extremely clean, modern, and very friendly. I was never upsold any unnecessary procedures my insurance wouldn't cover or asked to spin a Yelp wheel like I was at the previous office we were at, and it was just very refreshing to be around such genuine and ethical professionals. Excellent experience! The dentist who saw my son (the owner) was really focused on making my son feel comfortable all the time. The dentist took the time to explain my 4 year old the purpose of each dental tool he was about to use so my preschooler was less nervous. Amazing! I had the most bizarre experience here. I brought my son in...it was going to be his first dental visit ever, and the receptionist was incredibly snotty and unfriendly, and the dentist said, "I'm the dentist" (okay ‍) when I asked where the bathroom was. Then we get back from the bathroom and we're just waiting and waiting while the dentist and receptionist are just chatting away and completely ignoring us. Meanwhile my son is running around out of boredom and no one says a word to us. So we wait some more and the dentist starts talking about an email from a patient and not in a good way. Dr.Nick and Heather are awesome！ We are so glad that we made the right decision switching to First Tooth. My son is 5 and half years old and his last dentist wanted to put him to "sleep" so that she can fix all 6 cavities at one time. We refused that and luckily we found Dr. Nick. Dr. Nick is very professional and super nice to the kids. Instead of putting the little boy to "sleep", he used "laughing gas" and got all the job done beautifully! Dr Nick was fantastic! He greeted us at the door, showed us all the fun things in the office and slowly and calmly showed us all the tools he would use. His energy and demeanor is everything you'd hope for a pediatric dentist. It was my daughter's first dental check and while she's great about this kind of thing, she definitely felt more comfortable because of his extra care and effort. Dr. Nick is an excellent pediatric dentist that is thoughtful and talented at building trust and rapport with kids. My 3 year old daughter recently fell on her scooter and cracked her tooth. Dr. Nick was very thoughtful considering and weighing the different potential treatment options and walked us through them in detail, gathering a second opinion and sharing a pros and cons list he jotted down so we could follow how he arrived at his recommendation to extract the tooth. He also showed a lot of heart as he guided us through the process and was careful to take care of both the tooth and my daughter's emotional state. My boy was terrified just by the chair leaning back and the mask on his face lol but he and his staff managed to calm him down and persist in getting the work done. Ok this review is long over due and important for any sandwich, Gen X parent. My daughter has a daughter, yes I claim the title "Glama" proudly. However this story begins with recently having to do 7 crowns on my elderly father with Alzheimer's. His caregivers were not well versed with his dental hygiene and even though he forgets many things, he finds his way to the chocolate. So this became my mission for my family to get their dental health under control and on the right path. I will review my Dad's dentist separate and my husband's separate as well but this is for Dr. Nick. My own daughter I spent years and money in braces and because of her past horrible pediatric dental experiences as a child, continue to hen peck her about her dental care, worrying when the day comes that she learns you can't afford to NOT take care of your teeth. I'm still trying to reach her and get her over her fears, I would review her old dentist in Florida, but that was years ago, he may not even be alive. I don't really like to bash businesses but rather give direct feedback in person. I like to guide fellow Yelpers on what I know is tried and true and what is a good experience... But my Beautiful Precious Baby Granddaughter when it comes to her, I became a bull-dozer to make sure she made it to the dentist. And this is why I chose First Tooth and Dr. Nick. He is so down to earth, loves and glows over his own young children, adores and respects his wife in conversation who he attributes many of the great amenities in his office to her. AND, drum roll here, was able to communicate with my millennial daughter and educate her on what to do and look for with raising and caring for her own baby's mouth and dental health. It was Dr. Nick's philosophy and story he tells when he was studying at UCLA that touched me. He volunteered with a mobile dental clinic and treated a young boy in a low income part of town and educated him on how to care for his dental health after fixing his problems. This boy now a young man sought him out and came to him years later as Dr. Nick was finishing his doctorate, older and thankful he told Dr. Nick how he had maintained good dental health while other kids not as lucky we're going though all sorts of dental issues and could not afford care. Dr. Nick then decided pediatric dentistry was definitely for him. If he could help teach what to do and how from the very first tooth he could help generations avoid the cycle of costly dental care, pain and lack of function. I could not help but agree with this. You will find Dr. Nick is not about how much he can get and do but how much he can educate, show and tell for a better dental future of his patients. I guess that appointment was more for my daughter and he did communicate well, but as you can see my granddaughter enjoyed herself as well and they managed and got her through the exam expertly and efficiently -- how does one do that when they are so young, to me it would be like herding cats but Good job Dr. Nick and Heather, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If we could only get my daughter in the chair.... I wouldn't be able to stop gabbing for sure. See you in six months or sooner if I am allowed to attend after my daughter reads this haha. read more

My 18 month old just LOVED the office and Dr Nick. She sat in the chair all by herself and let him brush her teeth, floss and do fluoride. Dr Nick is an incredibly patient and kind dentist! I would know since I've had to take my 7 year old to several over the past years. She can be fearful and uncooperative but he handled it like a true professional unlike the last dentist who asked us not to return because she kept biting accidentally. He is thorough and has made some great suggestions in keeping her teeth healthy. He recently checked my three year old and he left the office saying "I really like Dr Nick." Both of my kids are happy to go to the office which has amazing LEGO displays, IPads and all the current movies to keep the distracted.
