What a bad experience. I called ahead to see if I could set up an account for my father and I so I…read morecould easily transfer him $. I live in CA, my father lives in Arkansas. This chase is the closest. I was told yes, bring him into a branch. I flew out, drove him over two hours. I open an acct. with my father on it. Before leaving I asked the banker. Will each of us receive our respective cards where we live, she says yes. I stop and clarify, my dad's will go to Arkansas? She says yes. He was there when I asked. 3 weeks later he does not receive his card. I go into my local chase branch.. as the main account holder I cannot order him a card. He calls the branch he went to, they will not issue him a card, because he is not the main account holder. They are now saying he has to make the trek back and request one in person. Mind you he has health issues and I had to fly to Texas, drive to Arkansas, pick him up, drive him to Texas, then back to Arkansas 2.5 hours each direction after picking him up. This is a terrible experience. They assured me so many times he would receive his card. I've been with this bank for so long and I am so very disappointed in how we have been mistreated and misled. I never would have made the trip if we knew they were going to do this. I am looking into cancelling all accounts at this point.

A lady without any name tag approached us and told us to follow her. We told her what we needed and then she asked for an ID and debit card. (He doesn't have a debit card, that's what we came in for...) she then told us there was no account. "He doesn't have a checking account with us." I laughed and asked Dad where his money is if he doesn't have an account. I stepped outside to call my mom for the account number, and a couple minutes later, Dad walks out and said she found the account. Turns out, the account had Tony instead of Antonio and that did make all the difference. She continued to be condescending towards Dad and I. She was snarky and overall probably shouldn't be working customer service if she is that way with everyone. Do better, Michelle... and start wearing your name tag.

(For several weeks now, I thought it would be a little kiosk or ATM building or something. Boy, was I surprised.) You'll find both new faces and old at this branch. They remain extremely friendly and customer-service oriented. Maybe it's due to its being new, or maybe it was the time of weekday I visited, but I got right in to see a loan officer. As always, these folks treat you like old friends. I feel like they are truly out to protect my best financial interests, and keep me from making any major mistakes. My elderly mother had just gotten taken to the cleaners by an unscrupulous local auto dealer. ECU's loan officer helped us as much as possible with helpful advice on what to do next. It's a shame the state of Texas doesn't have Elder Abuse laws directed at shady auto dealers. Because they don't, it's important to find a bank or credit union with people you can trust. I trust ECU wholeheartedly, and love their new branch, which will be loads easier to get to than their main branch, south of Longview. Tip: Credit unions have expanded their list of people who are eligible for (free) membership. I encourage everyone who needs a friend in the financial sector to give 'em a try. Their rates consistently beat local bank rates, on both deposits and loans.
