I absolutely loved my time with FRTG. I participated in a CPR class and 5-week EMT program with FRTG and could not have more positive things to say. The instructors are all very knowledgeable with extensive and diversified experiences, but it's their passion and enthusiasm that sets FRTG apart. I genuinely felt that they cared about my learning and wanted me to succeed. I was provided with free tutoring and allowed to stay in the building to study until as late at 9:30 some nights. I had access to a kitchen and even a coffee pot to fuel my study sessions. While I was there, instructors would pop in and ask if I had any questions without me even asking. I was given every opportunity to thrive. I also always felt FRTG admin cared about my experience and genuinely wanted my feedback. We were frequently asked for survey feedback (not required) on both instructors and the program. Almost daily, the president and owner of the company would ask us if we had questions or concerns. He also basically doubles as a motivational speaker, seriously Jay if you read this you had some good talks. So if your weighing the benefits of FRTG, you can add the free weekly motivation session and personally knowing the organization owner. My course took place in a complicated time with COVID and all, but FRTG and Jay did everything they could to still allow our course of take place safely and effectively. They even arranged for the WHOLE SCHOOL to be COVID tested for free. COVID and building shutdowns was part of why FRTG allowing me to use the facility to study was such an immense help. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I went into this class looking for a medically related job to do during my gap year/years before medial school and came out of it passionate and excited about EMS. I'm now dying to attend paramedic school in my gap time. I will 100% be going back to FRTG when I enroll in paramedic school. read more

I started the EMT program in July 2023 with the intention of becoming a certified firefighter as soon as possible. At the time I joined, the fire program had not yet been announced, however I was promised by the staff that it would start as soon as my EMT class was completed. By September they had announced that they would be starting their first ever fire academy in October just as they promised me. I immediately signed up and reserved my spot that day. I successfully passed my EMT course and October had finally arrived. on the very first day of class it had become clear to me that I had joined the right program because of the overwhelming amount of love shown to everyone. That day we all knew that we were the start of something great. Fast forward to the new year and I am a certified firefighter/emt with the ability to work in the department of my choosing. The training I received from FRTG is second to none and I can confidently say that I will be walking into a fire department with much more knowledge than your average rookie. Throughout the course we were exposed to and trained by the most knowledgeable and experienced firefighters you can find in the entire country. If you go to FRTG you will find that every instructor and employee is there to see you succeed. This type of atmosphere was created by the owner of the school, Jay Marquez. When I started to look for a school to enroll in for paramedic I had no clue about any programs in the area, since I did EMT out of state. Going through fire standards I started hearing guys talk about this First Response Training Group and how it wasn't just a school but a family. So long story short I enrolled in paramedic at FRTG. This school isn't a school it's a family truly, I quickly realized what all the hype was about. The entire staff walks the walk, every staff member, instructor, and owner will drop what they are doing and move heaven on earth to help you out. The education is second to none period. Every instructor at this school works in the field and sleeps,eats, and breaths EMS and it shows. If you want to just go through EMT and Paramedic and just be a number and not put in work this is not the school for you. With that said if you want to be an EMT or Paramedic that is knowledgeable, and competent and be part of family even after you move on from school, this is the place to be. Lastly job placement, students from this school have excelled so well that FD's have hired guys straight from school and put them through Fire Standards (which is unheard of in this area). I attended FRTG for EMT and Fire minimum standards. I would highly recommend the school to anyone who is willing to work hard and stay focused. Staff is not only knowledgeable, but wants to see each student succeed. During my experience, instructors offered to stay after class as long as it would take for the entire class to understand the material and answer questions. I was part of the first firefighter class and I gained a tremendous amount of pride for the profession and to be part of the school. Instructors during this class worked out with us and pushed our character development just as much as in the classroom. The opportunities that Jay presented us with are greatly appreciated. Before midterm the class was offered jobs from a department. Not only that, but Jay arranged that several fire chiefs come to the class to give advice and teach us about their departments. Just finished the Paramedic program, it is hands down the hardest year of your life. Jay was straight up honest with us from the first day that most of us in our class wouldn't make it unless we dug in and worked hard. Then covid happened. When other schools failed to deliver to their students, Jay and his staff came up with a plan for education to continue, even if it wasnt the best of circumstances. We went without skipping a beat, zoom instruction and online simulation, being one of the best used tools to accomplish that. Jay and his staff worked with the surrounding agencies to try to keep us doing our clinical hours, which was a struggle for several months, so Jay began hosting simulation lab on the weekends to account for the lack of clinical availability. But in the end Jay and his staff give 100% and will help you succeed as long as your giving 100%. read more

Took the EMT night course here. It was a trip, but man it was awesome. It's hard, go into this knowing that. But if you can stick it out and if you work hard at it, you will pass and you will feel proud of yourself. The instructors here are very down to earth and realistic, and although I've heard one or two people consider them "too tough" (something I don't agree with), they genuinely want you to pass and want you to be good medical providers and don't just want to shove you through the program. Don't do this course if you prefer a cushy college classroom, lack of structure, or cleaning. It's a structured and respectable program that makes you proud to wear their uniform. I would've preferred a little more hands on training, however, I did not recieve an inadequate amount of skill training. This school is worth it and I appreciated my time here read more

I enrolled in the 5 wk EMT program. It is INTENSE. It is a lot of information in a very short amount of time. However, if you are focused and dedicated it can be done. The office staff are great, the owner of the school is always around, and the instructors are very very real. They are active field personnel that do not pull punches or cater to you. If you are serious about your education this is the place you want to be. There is a lot of independent study that needs to be done, so if you are not a self starter you may want to look elsewhere. The instructors will help you, tutor you, and even stay after with you but they will not do it for you. You will get out of it as much as you put in. These men come off of 24+ hour shifts with little to no sleep and consistently give solid, accurate, and thorough lessons each day. When class ends, they sit down and ask who has specific questions or are struggling. The staff is built of efficient, warm, knowledgable team members who keep everything behind the scenes rolling smoothly. The longest I have ever waited for an email response was 30 minutes. They update us on our status, show us options that can help us each with our weaknesses, and even come in to give hugs and pray for the class before stressful tests. I highly recommend Jay and the staff at First Response Training Group! Medic School is a rough year; however, Jay and his staff at FRTG made it highly recommendable. I was initially pretty nervous about medic school but after the first month, I started to realize how to schedule my time and it became a lot easier. In addition, you form a sense of pride from FRTG. You have to put in the work but the sense of accomplishment is their at the end. Also, the staff will bend over backwards to help you meet your goals and I feel that other colleges may not offer that. FRTG came to a medical school symposium that my college was hosting. At the time I was already considering EMT school over the summer but with other programs. After talking to them and researching online I found very good reviews for the program. I enrolled in their hybrid program over the summer. This program was the best for my schedule. The class definitely had a few kinks to work out but they are progressing with that. Overall they gave me the right resources clinically and educationally to pass my final. Where do I even start, this school has changed my life so much and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I went to EMT school here when I was 17 and fell in love with it. The constant support from the instructors is what inspired me to go to paramedic school here too. Having been in prehospital care as a paramedic for 20 years, I was always pleased when FRTG students were on my truck. The dedication and high expectations of the instructors was more than clear in the way the students presented themselves and the knowledge they displayed. The students were eager to learn and had a firm handle on the fundamentals, which is something I see regularly missing from students of some other schools. This school is a joke. The owner is a washed out medic who couldn't cut it as a supervisor. All the instructors have less than 10 years experience individually and some of them have only been Medics for a few years. The owner constantly brags to the community about how great they are however they push out mediocre and poor students, many with poor work ethic. They give too many chances to failures in the school which is a detriment to the community. Who wants a medic that failed a program twice ? Many better schools in the area than this place. read more

I went to first response for EMT and chose to go back for paramedic bc I felt there was no other school better than first response. Jay and his team really prove to go above and beyond for the students who put in just as much work and effort as the school does.
