I discovered Community First Bank of Indiana (CFBI) through their community business development representative, Bonnie Riley. I had the privilege of having Danielle Gaston set up the paperwork for my new account. She was kind and courteous and even allowed me to joke and banter with her. Scott Hammersley, their business/commercial lending specialist, came out and introduced himself and spent time learning about our new business coming to the Westfield area. Later when I was having trouble getting online banking and the mobile app setup, one of the bank's team took my call, walked me through it, and stayed on the phone with me till setup was confirmed. I never felt rushed or hurried, there was a calm, steady tone and constant reminders that I was their priority and they wanted me to be set up and able to use all the resources the bank had for me. I'm grateful for my time at CFBI, and I'm very impressed with the service and resources they have available. I love their approachable and dedicated commitment to our local community.

BECAUSE I already have a mortgage with them, I cannot open a checking account. Hours on the phone with customer service and the result is "only by visiting a branch can you get cleared to open an account" For a senior citizen, living in assisted living without a car, visiting the branch is, to say the least, challenging. Chase touts their accessibility, but that is all talk and no action. I was told years ago, in business to "under promise and over deliver" Chase online banking does just the opposite. They overpromise and under-deliver.

I have learned about this the hard way. Was cheated by a business operating out of who knows where -- they said Florida but the defective item was sent from So. Carolina -- I challenged the charge because the company sent me a piece of junk-yard auto part that was both the wrong part for the make/model and model requested AND was not remanufactured as contracted. Chase Bank, rather than losing a sketchy business client, told me to go pack sand. Ha! Ha! I had to fax all the details and copies of correspondence. (Who uses fax anymore? what is this, the stone age?) To collect all these documents was like filing federal taxes. so 3 hours of waster time and massive frustration. Thanks Chase! Thankfully, where are many credit card companies eager for my business. AVOID CHASE. They are and enable crooks. tfs

This indicates a very healthy bank to me. I opened a third account this week. A new checking account in addition to the Money Market account I have and an IRA type Certificate of Deposit (CD). The signature card and debit card were waiting for me in the drive-thru lane. And I received a free gift for opening the new account. An 89 piece household tool set in a carrying case. I also applied for and was approved for a credit card online. It was much more simpler than the last time I applied.

I asked if I could use my debit card to fund my new account, like I have my last 2-3 accounts. The answer was YES, no problem! Yeah, no problem for them but for me or you, they ran my debit card as a cash advance instead of a debit card. No word of there may be fees or even telling me they was running it as a cash advance. Like I said I've opened my last 2-3 accounts at other banks with zero problem and 0 fees! But beings they ran it as a cash advance (like you would on a CC) I was charged a 3% cash advance fee by my bank! If I'd been told I'd known there was a 3% fee and would have stopped across 67 and withdrew the money for free! Instead now I'm out $90 and guess who don't care because some how I should have known that they run your card in a way that NO OTHER bank does!!! Really thought I wanted to switch to a smaller "Hometown" style bank but not if they do things completely fu$&@$@ ass backwards, than any other bank! So thanks for nothing, Tessa!
