I have my personal and business accounts there. The down sides are that you can not deposit in ANY ATM, EVER. No ATM check deposit, no cash deposits. Very strange. The other quirk is that they do not allow online interaccount transfers, only over the phone or showing up at a branch. I still bank with them but have opened another account at a Credit Union recently.

But recently they won we over big time on Ice Cream Day. It was hot as ever in Missoula and after seeing all of the flyers I went to the Ryman St. location to find out what Ice Cream Day was all about. They were out! The teller called the next nearest location because she could see that I was on my bike and kind of bummed to miss out on the ice cream. The East Broadway Drivethru still had some ice cream so off I went! I conducted my banking with a friendly guy who took care of my withdrawal and even hand delivered a scoop of ice cream to me on my bike in the drive up lane. I love banking with First Security and I will continue to do so for years to come. Thank you for your excellent customer service and customer appreciation!

DO NOT BANK WITH WELLS FARGO. SO MUCH MORE TROUBLE THAN ITS WORTH. Not to mention they recently stopped drive up service at one branch and closed an entire other branch. Completely limiting the amount of options to complete banking in this town. And I don't want to hear about their online banking because every time I use it it doesn't work. Worst bank ever.

In fact, everyone was really great until we actually decided to open the account. The person who opened our account was a loan officer who was not personable, engaging, or helpful until she knew that I previously managed a credit union. Additionally, we were given instant issue cards and had no opportunity to set up our PINs. While the front teller line is decent, their contact center is a hot mess. My husband tried to set up his PIN and called three different times and got three different answers... answers ranged from "What?? That's literally never happened before." to "Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do, you have to come down here and get a completely new card with a new number and then we can set your PIN" to "It likely defaulted to xxxx number, try that." They also have a limitation that you are not allowed to set up external transfers (unless its a wire, which has a fee) for the first 30 days of your account. I can appreciate the attempt to reduce fraud with this action, but I find it very obnoxious that I cannot send my own money to other accounts. When asking for an exception (five or six days early) I was told no. Lastly, when we went in to close, we weren't even asked why. It appears MFCU does not care to get better and is happy to rest on their laurels while also losing members. The service is lackluster and has no personality.

I opened my account when I was seventeen years old and just starting my freshman year of college. I was grateful that they allowed me to do this relatively easily despite being a minor because at the time I was in the care of the state as a foster child. Over the years I've struggled financially as a result of this and a variety of factors. I've turned to CCU for guidance and was offered predatory pay day loans. I was never offered an opportunity to build my credit with them despite ultimately always paying my loans off. It's been more than fifteen years and my financial situation is worse than when I began. Obviously this is not the fault of the CU, however, they did nothing to help aside suggest lifestyle changes when the reality of my financial barriers are much more systemic in nature than personal. I attended a member meeting to confront them about the lack of diversity in their administration and was only assured that they are charitable contributors. To me, this is a patriarchal response to inequality as it ensures the power stays where it is rather than offering it to those who might use it to change or improve things. It was at that time I decided I needed to leave, however, due to my financial situation that is complicated. I want to warn others who are new to the area of the dynamic in this institution. They have changed their branding for a reason. Many long time and former members agree with this, but may be to afraid of local retaliation to come forward. This is not a financial institution I would recommend to anyone. They are more concerned with appearances than substantiated effort to improve the lives of their members.

After joining some large banking companies, you quickly realize local is where it's at. Trailwest staff is polite, professional, and helpful in every aspect. I've been with Clearwater Credit Union (MFCU) for the past year and the hidden fees and mysterious charges are ridiculous. I'm not the only one who experiences this either. I am most definitely switching back to Trailwest!
