I was skeptical at first of this Bank but my boyfriend got an account with them and I was his payee so I got some hands-on experience with them. And overall, I was fairly happy with First Convenience UNTIL...... OK, before I get into the reason that I am going to change banks and NEVER do business with First Convenience again, I will state the positive qualities that the bank has. First, you can get your money a day before the normal date if you have direct deposit and I don't know if it works on regular paychecks. I am a disabled vet so I have government money that goes in and I get it the business day before the 1st. The other positive thing is that when you're with them for a while and if you don't have NSF charges, then there's a good chance that you will eventually qualify for a start-up loan which can be as much as $1,000 and they don't necessarily go by your credit score. NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS, this Bank charges you if you use any other ATM accept their ATM and they are only located inside Walmart grocery stores and not necessarily all Walmarts. But my biggest pet peeve is the fact that when I have a dispute about a transaction that I did not authorize, I have to call the only phone number they have and sometimes wait on hold for a customer service representative to answer and then, ONLYto have to wait again on hold because they have to direct your call to the dispute department and there is no direct phone number to that department. But RECENTLY, I filed a dispute because Groupon charged me $228 for something that I did not order and I did not authorize payment for the $228 charge. HOWEVER, after waiting almost a month, I get a response back from First Convenience stating that they don't see any air in the charge of $228 but yet, I don't even know what the charges supposed to entitle me to except for the fact that it is a charge that went to skillsuccess.com. I did purchase some things through Groupon but I DID NOT make any purchase of $228 and I am furious that my bank is letting me down and stating that they don't find an air and the worst part about it is when I have called two different times, not only do they transfer me once after I call the main phone number, but on both occasions the department that answers the second time turns around and puts me on hold for a THIRD time! But my nightmare doesn't end there, then after waiting on hold for a third time, on both occasions all of a sudden my phone call gets rerouted to the initial automated voice prompts that you only get when you initially call which is basically asking you what you want information about such as, whether you're calling to check your balance or calling to speak to the loan department. IN OTHER WORDS, ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I CALLED THE BANK AND GOT TRANSFERRED THREE TIMES AND THEN GOT REROUTED TO THE INITIAL AUTOMATED VOICE PROMPTS. In other words, after waiting on hold three times then all of a sudden I'm transferred back to square one!! I AM VERY PISSED! read more
