FCNB refused to refinance my home equity loan because I had a double wide on my property. After paying down the loan after my husband died last year, I ask if there was a lower rate that I could refinance to to lower my payment. They told me twice, once last year and once in March that it wouldn't be that big of a difference in rate and they would not refinance the loan with a double wide home on the property. Funny, When we took out the loan 2 years ago, it was fine. Never mind I have an excellent credit score and long term full time employment. The answer was "NO". So I went on the internet and found in 5 minutes that PNC bank would refinance the loan for 4.74% fixed for the remaining term and amount. That from 7.29% at First Citizens in Manfield! PNC had no problem getting the appraisal and closed the deal in 3 days! with a double wide on the property. First Citizens is discriminating against owners of double wide homes and charging exhorbitant interest rates on home equity loans that are way out of line with what other banks are offering. If you have a loan with them I would suggest you look at your rate and see if you can't get better. It only cost me $180 to close my loan with PNC and it turns out that is the bank I deal with in Philadelphia. read more
