Very easy going , worshipping, and the morning steaming hot coffee. Last Sunday we had the BBq new member worship, new and existing. I love that there is sunday school and kids very involved. The Pastor relates the message to what's happening in present day , really makes you self reflect, no sugar coating, tell it like it is! Well, this is a tough one. Not a simple description for me, will take direct first and then try to…read moreexplain. Mikes teachings are spot on, relationships and feeling like I belong and in community, terrible. So I have been to New Day many times over the years back to the beginning in Springfield and Mikes teachings have always been solid and definitely the foundation and number 1 for me. That being said relationship is a huge thing to me and mine as well and that is lacking. It is talked about a lot verbally but not done in actions. I have been going to Enfield for 3 years and I have never met or interacted with Mike. His availability as i see it to the common folk is purposely limited and that is troubling, not that I should have some special pathway to have an audience with him but the church even does not have an email for him but there is one for everyone else online. I do believe Jesus is all about relationship and that is the one area I struggle with at New Day. I have spoken with Andrew many times just shooting the breeze , I have never breathed the same air as Mike outside of the Chapel as I have never seen him in the foyer area after service to even say hi. Again I am not saying this is what is most important but it is about being part of a community and about relationship for ME and Mine. I am guessing the thought process is "join a small group" certainly a good option but it has a feeling of there is an A group, a B group and so on. Mikes teaching is spot on as I said , that being said for us relationship is big as well. I am in my walk to be enlightened, educated in His Word, understand Him better and so on. I am also in this walk to be in community with fellow believers and to strengthen relationship in the community not be a robot or just follow a mapped out trail with no true human relationship within a church that I feel like is a family of believers. So love the teaching, struggle with if the experience we are having at New Day is as it really should be or is it meant to be so I am trying to decide. I know Christ and get to know His Word better each week and Mike helps for sure, the community and relationship reality of what does or does not come from New Day seems at times well spoken of but very short in reality to be able to be truly welcomed in and feel like it is being cultivated. So I listen online, go to service for the solid teaching and settle for that at this point but I know there is the full package out there and I will find it at some point, that being said I continue to pray New Day will become that for me, not sure it will or honestly if that is what the leadership of New day wants to be. Josh Whithead spoke and says it should be so we will see. I will continue to attend and seek this both at New Day and keep my ears and eyes open for the possibility of another place of worship. New day has in my opinion the opportunity , not sure this is their desired pathway and I need to accept that. With Eternity in Mind!

On both occasions, I was stunned at the generous amount of food offered by the church (hand made by their members) that they provide for the blood donors. Tonight, after I donated my 31st pint, there was a Butternut Squash Soup and a really great cup of chili offered. I'm telling you, the chili was excellent- three kinds of beans, corn, and a pretty zippy tomato base. And it was served hot too! But wait there's more! Four kinds of sandwiches served on four types of bread with cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was like ordering at a diner! God bless these generous folks for recognizing the blood donors.

There's five large Stained glass windows with Jesus in the center. Very spiritual. I find the masses there to be very inspiring and I'll be honest, I should go more often. Nice people, nice priests. It's a very enjoyable experience to go there. The CCD program has been good for my kids and their private school is highly rated.

We have raised our family in church, and for the first time ever my younger children have said they understand the application to each sermon preached here at Proclamation. The people are warm, friendly, and authentic. The atmosphere is worshipful, the music God-honoring and done well. There are always some sort of events going on for different age groups- ladies breakfasts, young mom groups, youth events, and men's events. This is a family-friendly church environment. During the morning sermon, there is nursery and children's church provided but you are welcome to keep your children with you as well, and several do so including myself. Outside, they recently built a new playground and put up a tent nearby where parents can fellowship. There are multiple pastors and elders, which follows the biblical pattern. This is a growing church. My family highly recommends it!

Now I've heard of peace pipes. I've heard of totem poles. But until today, I had I never heard of a Peace Pole. Well it turns out that there was one just a few miles from where I work ! According to the good folks at Wikipedia, "A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in the language of the country where it has been placed, and usually 3 to 5 additional translations. The message is referred to as a peace prayer. Peace Poles originated in Japan in 1955 and then spread around the globe. Today, peace poles around the world number over 100,000 and can be found in over 180 countries. The First Church in Windsor's Peace Pole was dedicated in 2010 to honor the retirement of Sue Williams after her 12 years of service as their Parish Caring Ministries Coordinator. The pole is located right in front of the church's main entrance. It is a stained redwood pole with carved engravings on all four sides that reads "Let Peace Prevail Upon Earth" in four different languages. The base of the pole is set in a small landscaped square bordered by stone bricks. How cool is this??

Needless to say, I don't have much basis of comparison, but the Church of St. Patrick and St. Anthony is quite a sight to behold. Clearly, downtown Hartford has grown up around this and other churches like it. Long before thousands of fans were worshipping the Whalers across the street at the Civic Center (and apparently not hard enough), local Catholics worshipped Jesus here. I was here for a wedding. Father Tom spoke with incredible poise, and conducted a very nice ceremony. The church itself is impeccably kept. I notice all the reviews so far are 5-star... does Jesus get mad at four-star reviews?
