This is just my opinion, but the healthcare providers in Hays are typically left to be desired. From HaysMed to HaysOrtho to First Care and beyond, I have had one terrible experience after another. When I heard that First Care recently hired a new APRN, I decided to give her a try! Nurse practitioner Nicole Spray was everything I had wanted in all my previous healthcare professionals beforehand. She took her time, asking me questions, giving me advice, and performing a serious of necessary tests. She was very kind, did not give me the go-around like many other doctors and nurses do these days. Plus, her 20+ years of experience in a variety of areas in the healthcare field put me at ease, as did her positive attitude! I am thrilled to say that I may have found a new primary care physician in Hays instead of having to travel back and forth to GCMC in Quinter. read more

I am averaging out my experiences. As far as counseling services go, FCC is top notch for what's available in the Hays area. Sandy is amazing and a true asset to the clinic. As far as the dentist goes, Dr. Paris needs to not have a job where he works with humans. He was condescending to his hygienists throughout the entire appointment and spoke rudely to me as well. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. read more

Dr. Fisher, famous for her compassionate care in cardiology, now brings that same care to family medicine. While the clinic might be considered a bit creaky and 50s brutalist in architecture by modern standards, it's still spotless and top notch because of the people who serve patients. I was happily shocked by the short wait time, and impressed by the fact that the clinic has ties to HaysMed's record system, so everything down to my EKGs were seamlessly in hand for my former cardiologist to join with my current cardiac person to consult and render a good diagnosis, hopefully getting me back on the road to recovery. You don't have to be a Medicaid patient to use the clinic. They accept insurance just like every other provider. However, if I was on Medicaid, I'm happy to know that I'd be treated as well as a full-pay patient. Plus, I'm just happy Doc Fisher is once again part of my health care team. read more

If I couldn't give this facility ZERO stars I would but unfortunately, that's not an option. I went to Dr. Paris for a post examination and X-ray from a recent wisdom tooth extraction I had 6 days prior back in California. I had to follow up with Dr. Paris bc I wasn't in CA & I developed a small dry socket. Unfortunately I don't have dental insurance, so I was obligated to seek treatment there. Being that I was enduring pain and discomfort I was anxious about treatment to begin with. Nevertheless, I was examined by the dental assistant who took an X-ray and came back seconds later to tell me she is going to preform the dry socket packing. Whether within her scope of practice or not, she provided me no explanation and voiced no concern. I had to question if the Dr. even looked at the X-ray and if he would come in to examine my socket!?! When I was told NO and she would be doing the fill, my instinct told me to get the heck out! How do you trust a facility, when the Dr. doesn't meet and examine you and allows for his personal to do his work??? For anyone who has had a dry socket the pain is pretty unbearable at times and being vulnerable and already apprehensive about Dr. Paris (from a previous visit) I left the office in TEARS and hopeless that I would endure another day of pain. I am a nurse and I have NEVER witnessed such horrible bedside manner from a physician IN MY LIFE!!! I felt so uncared for, unimportant and mostly fearful that nothing could me done to treat my symptoms. Upon leaving the office, the dental assist and Dr. Paris questioned my leave and when I said I don't feel comfortable here, she looked at me with disgust and he shrugged his shoulders, smirked and walked away. This is the WORST service I have ever came across in the medical field and I advise anyone who has dignity to NEVER go here!!! What Dr. & staff have their patients leave in tears?!?!? These last few years without insurance I've had to go to First Care Clinic for my dental concerns. I've gone a couple of times and have always felt uneasy whenever I go in. Dr. Paris seems like he doesn't care about forming relationships with his patients. He is very rude and doesn't exhibit a caring demeanor. You can tell he doesn't enjoy his job. I just have to suck it up because of the only affordable place in this area. The previous dentists I've gone to have made sure I feel comfortable because dental procedures tend to be very daunting. As well as the hygienists they don't seem like they care, maybe his attitude has gotten to them. If I had insurance I would surely never come back. If you have a low budget and need work done this place will do. read more

We had such a bad experience with Dr. Paris. All of my kids were so upset after having dental visits with him. My 12 year son flinched when his cheek got poked with the needle when he was getting a cavity filled. Dr. Paris stopped to yell at him and threatened him with the needle and told him that there are a lot of things that are going to hurt him worse in this world. While that may be a harsh reality of this world, it was certainly not necessary to yell at a child with a long lecture and put him in tears. His tone was not educational, but bullying. Completely inappropriate and bordering on assault. Weeks after the cavity was filled it hurts more than it did before. We only went here because it's the only place our insurance covers, but now I will figure out a way to pay out of pocket, because there is no way I'm exposing my children to this angry, incompetent dentist again. read more

I wouldn't recommend this clinic for anyone. Especially parents who think for themselves and their children. My son was on a delayed vaccine schedule due to complications with jaundice that left him hospitalized for a month. I didn't want to "catch him up" all at once and the doctors/nurses didn't like that choice, but eventually gave in. Fast forward to his 6 month shots (actually given at 8 months of age) I again was Leary because he was already battling a cold. But they convinced me he would be fine. They never told me the risks or that there even were any risks. I wasn't given the option to read the vaccine inserts (NOT the handouts) and didn't even know better to ask for them. My perfect baby boy had a severe reaction: fever within 2 hours of the shots that lasted a week (102-105), diarrhea, quit making eye contact, seemed like just touching him caused him immense pain, wouldn't eat/drink/sleep hardly at all that whole time, and one of his eyes turned in slightly (which I now know is from brain inflammation-- listed on the inserts). They told me there were NO risks. But after this horrible experience I did my own research (now I'm a year and 4 months into it!) and we no longer vaccinate. I hate myself for not listening to my motherly instinct. Please, PLEASE do your baby the favor of reading the actual inserts, the side effects, reactions, deaths, and learn about the fact that doctors receive up to $40k a yr just for vaccinating your precious little baby! Look up the MTHFR mutation, watch Vaxxed and the Truth About Vaccines so that you can make an informed decision. There are exemptions for most states that let your children attend school and daycare. The physicians office at First Care keeps calling me to get my son caught up even though I flat out refuse. Don't make the same mistake I did! read more

I called this place and scheduled an appointment because one of my crowns broke and I wanted that to be taken care of as soon as possible. I was told that on the first appointment, they were only going to do x-rays but no dental work. I was disappointed but thought if that's how their system worked, then I just had to be patient and maybe the x-rays would show the urgency of my case and I would get to schedule an appointment for dental work soon after that. The day before my appointment, they called to cancel it, which was very frustrating. I tried to reschedule and the soonest they would have me was more than a month later. I didn't think my case could wait but I had no choice so I said ok to the time they suggested. Three weeks before the new appointment time, my crown which was barely holding together came off completely, leaving sharp edges and very uncomfortable feel and taste. The next day, I went to First Care around noon and asked when was the soonest I could have a dental appointment because my crown broke. Instead of looking through their calendar and finding a close appointment date for me, they told me the dentist was on lunch break and I should come back there at 1:00 and that the dentist would see me then but because there's no pre-scheduled appointment they would probably not do work on my tooth that day. I came back at 12:50 and sat there and waited and waited and waited. I informed them I had to leave at 2:15 to pick my child from preschool, and then waited and waited and waited some more. I had brought my crown in a jar and hoped they would just temporarily stick it back in and I would come on a later date for major work. At 2:15, I was still not called in and I was feeling mad over the time wasted. I went to talk to the receptionist about how long I had been waiting and how I needed to go get my child but still how I still needed to be seen today. At that moment, the nurse finally came out to tell me they could finally see me. I said I had to go get my child from preschool and asked if someone could just put my fallen crown back in because I had to leave. She said no. I asked if I could go pick my child quickly and come back, but she insisted I couldn't bring my child there with me unless I had someone else to sit in the waiting room with my child because they wouldn't allow them with me in the exam room. Now please note that I have been to numerous dental appointments with my child in other clinics where my child came with me and sat on a chair and watched videos while I got examined with no issues at all. I told her I would sign anything to take full responsibility of my child being with me and release them from any liability but she wouldn't budge. Having lived in Hays for only 2 months, I didn't know anyone to ask them to come watch my child in a different room while I got my dental work done. They were so stubborn, and unapologetic and I felt so frustrated and angry. They didn't have to tell me to come at 1:00 and then waste an hour and a half of my time over an issue that may have not even got that bad if they didn't cancel my appointment a few weeks earlier, to begin with. I hate this place and I am at a point where if all of my teeth were to fall out tonight and I was to live on jars of mashed baby food for the rest of my life and they were the only clinic left on Earth, I wouldn't go there. read more
