I had an amazing experience volunteering at this church. I am a volunteer with NY Cares and I…read moresigned up to be a "personal shopper" during a coat drive at this church. When I got there I met the Pastor, his wife, their two young daughters and the other volunteers. Before we got started the Pastor's wife gave each of us a Pocket Prayer and we all read it together. She explained to us how Moravians are about community and thanked us for helping. Everything was very organized as we separated coats by size and gender. Once the coats were all hung on display, there were also two piles: coats that need to be fixed and coats that need to be laundered. I thought that was very nice that they wanted only the best coats out for these people. Before our "shoppers" came in the Pastor and his wife served us all a delicious lunch. The Pastor's wife really took charge when the people started coming in, giving out numbers for the line and assigned us all different jobs. As a "personal shopper" you take the customer around the displays and help them pick coats for their families and then take them to get bagged up. It was a big turnout even though it was snowing and I was so happy to see people in need getting warm coats for the winter. I would love to volunteer here again.

I love the fact that he had a wonderful sense of humor and made things comfortable for the entire wedding party. The church itself is a beautiful church that is very well maintained. I felt very comfortable in this church but that could because I was raised Catholic and it's a Catholic church. The organ made the church even more beautiful, with haunting notes and the soft evening sun shining through paned glass. Overall, a wonderful place to get married.

Pastor Tom is warm and welcoming but, doesn't water down God's Word to fit today's vibe. He gives it to you straight as we need it and to apply it to your life but, with much love. Can't say enough about Pastor Andy, the Youth Pastor and his wonderful wife!! The fact that the youth group is busting down the doors and kids in the high school are bringing their friends should speak enough for what this dynamic duo is doing in our communities.
