This is the most beautiful and vibrant Catholic community I have ever seen. The 8:30am Sunday mass…read morewas packed wall to wall and overflowing with children. They had veils and plastic rosaries available to borrow, and there were doughnuts after mass. Many people stayed and chatted after mass outside as well. Just from reading the flyers, you can tell how focused they are on serving all the different communities and demographics of their community from teenagers to single moms. I visited on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity where the focus was baptism. A very fitting day to visit. If I lived closer, I would visit all the time. Highly recommend, but arrive at least 10 minutes early. They have a lot of parking, but it's still packed.

This is a remarkably beautiful church right in the heart of the historic part of Front Royal. It…read morefeatures gorgeous stained glass that catches the morning sun, and a stunning altar. Several large paintings of Saint John the Baptist hang in the sanctuary. We were hiking the nearby Appalachian Trail and decided to go to the 10:30 Sunday Mass. Since were kind of stinky, we sat in the back about 25 minutes before Mass. Looked like the pews would hold about 500. Little did we know it would soon be standing room only, as ushers packed us all in. Lots of young families (large, Catholic families!) The Mass was traditional, in Latin and English complete with about 8 acolytes and incense. The priest did a fine job on the homily, teaching while using scripture to point out his message. The parishioners were very welcoming. Overall, glad I went and had a chance to worship in this jewel of a church.

I have been looking for a church to call home for a very long time, and sadly, each place I try out…read moreonly proves to be more wicked than the last. I received what appeared to be kind emails from this pastor, so I decided to check out this church during one of their Monday night prayer meetings and study groups. As soon as I walked into the room, I could feel a vibe that wasn't right. But, me being foolishly optimistic, I stuck around and gave these people the benefit of the doubt. However, no matter how hard I tried to ignore it, the longer I stayed, the darker the aura I could see over this gathering. This made me so uncomfortable, that I ended up stammering my speech when it came time to meet the leaders of the church. As usual, my intuition proved to be right on the mark. This church professes to follow the Bible to the letter, and yet they have clearly missed the whole point of Jesus Christ and His message. They profess to be "pro-life," yet they are sadistic ammosexuals who believe that God created animals to be abused, murdered, and discarded. This church is the very definition of the word "cult," and Eli Johnson is their leader. This idea that Jesus would have advocated guns is just absurd, and proves that Christians are usually the last ones to know anything about Christ. Jesus was a pacifist. I don't know what these preachers are being taught in seminary, but they're certainly not being taught Biblical truth. This church also refers to their leaders as "elders," which is a joke, since these elders don't know the first thing about the Word of God.
