Lordsburg, New Mexico…read more There is another Veteran's Park in Deming, NM (South-Central). This Veterans Park is not to be confused with the Deming location as this park is situated in South-West New Mexico near the Arizona border off of I-10. The park is officially closed due to COVID mess. However, we just parked off the road & walked on the front portion of the park where there are plenty of statues, flags, placards & signs, and a tank. Visible from the outside was a large parking structure, more statues & a bunch of picnic tables. This park was an ideal location to take a quick break to stretch the legs, move around a bit, take pictures and the sorts. It's best to walk around or move about on open land during long road trips every 2-3 hours to prevent fatique, blood clots and enjoy the scenery. There are a lot of bugs and flies so keep the doors/windows closed during your break. I am sure the typical desert wildlife such as snakes, etc. are lurking amidst so travel cautiously. Lordsburg is a decent sized town (not city) w/ all the necessary supplies at Love's or Flying J's travel centers (big gas stations). Lordsburg also has various dining options, dollar stores, markets, motels and a fireworks store. Notable places to scope if you are here: 1. Shakespeare Ghost Town (Closed during covid). 2. Lordsburg-Hidalgo County Museum, and 3. Fraggle Rock (open 24/7). Notable regions to visit: 1. Silver City (town) about one hour north and 2. Tombstone, Arizona about two hours west. 3. Whitmire Canyon desert/Animas Mountain Range (very dangerous) about 90 minutes south. 4. Las Cruces/White Sands Missile Base about two hours east. White Sands is where the Atomic Bomb Testing (Manhattan Project) occurred. Travel Safely my friends. @cigarcpa

Veterans Park is not a business. It is a municipal park owned by the City of Lordsburg…read more No fees or hook-ups. Just a nice and level place to park overnight. Water spigots (municipal water?) are available, but freeze in cold weather. If you want a very nice dry camp spot along Interstate 10, this is great. I don't know if this location has an actual street address. Turn south on the I-10 Main Street exit, drive about 3/4 mile through a residential area and you will see an American flag, static WWII anti-aircraft gun and a track vehicle on the left.

If you've been considering exploring Bisbee- you definitely should. Don't miss out!…read more Our family lives pretty close by so I've been many times. It's an old miner hippie town with lots of little quirky shops, restaurants and oddities. Bisbee is a day trip- maybe a weekend max. It's fairly small, so don't expect to spend a week here as you will run out of things to do! Come on the weekends when the most shops will be open, and pay attention to hours! Most things open at 9/10 and some shops close at 2, so plan accordingly. If you're coming from out of town, consider staying in bisbee and also hitting tombstone and Lowell. Stay in the copper queen hotel or a cute quirky Airbnb. I'd avoid Bisbee Coffee Company and hit Allan & Co instead. Make sure you go to Patisserie Jacqui and Pussy Cat Gelato. Cafe Roka is excellent for a higher end meal. If you love thrifting/antiquing Bisbee, Lowell and Tombstone have tons of great shops. The hotel is BUZZING at night on the weekends when there's live music and it's a hoot. It's a magical place.

We stayed at San Ramon which was nice. We walked Main St at night and during the day, both were beautiful. A must is doing at least some of the 1,000 step challenge, you'll get excellent views from it. And you must eat breakfast at Bisbee Breakfast Club and walk through Lowell as you wait for your table to be ready. Afterwards, walk to Dot's Diner for a float or milkshake, and checkout the Shady Dell.
