Regardless of the negative reviews I needed tires and I like Firestones. I decided to go to the S.FL Ave store which is closer to my home. On the morning of my appointment I jumped in my truck and was greeted by a click, click, click, dead battery. Had a friend that had a jump box, and got going, called that I'd be a little late due to battery and would need one. I worked for 30 years as an auto tech, so I know when a shop is trying to get to you, but I didn't get that feeling here. Could be that management changed since last review (over12 months) I don't know. To me, the staff was professional, polite and not pushy trying to upsell a product. I have to give a shout out to Becky a 15 year loyal customer that was there , she only brings her vehicles to the S. FL location. To me it was felt like a family run business, everyone got along , spoke with the customer's. The only thing I didn't intend on getting was a wheel alignment but I 1st decided to do a 1 year and when I sat back down Becky asked if I got the lifetime, I said no, she said the lifetime is good at any Firestone store around the country, then she asked Nathaniel, didn't you explain that to him, which he did, so I did change to the lifetime alignment. I will never go to a Firestone location ever again. Please never give your business to this company. As a young woman (who doesn't know much about cars) I was completely taken advantage of. I normally take my car to a mom and Pop shop that charges fair prices but I recently moved to lakeland. One day when I started my car it was shaking badly so I took it to a Firestone and asked them to see what was wrong with it so suddenly. I also asked if they could do an oil change on my car since it was that time. A man called me back later and told me one of my coils was dead and the others were in bad condition. He quoted me $815 to replace them. I told him i was unable to afford that and would pick my car up the next day. When I went to pick my car up they charged me a $120 diagnostic fee and $99 to change the oil. The day prior I was never told there would be a fee to have them look at it and wouldn't have done either services if I was told these costs. Granted I expected some sort of fee for them to look at it but would've never imagined $120. At my mom and pop shop I have consistently been charged $70 for an oil change. When I called them after this they told me they could replace my coils for $475. Even though I live far from the shop it is worth it to me to give my business to honest people and not to disgusting crooks. If you are reading this I urge you to please never give your business to this company. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO REPAIR HERE. THEY ARE THIEVES. they charged me 500.00 to repair a 137.00 part. this was 2 months after they replaced a part and charged me 1,000+ and having the same issue with the part that they replaced, took to a dealer who told me the issue was the part they had replaced and charged 1,000.00 I was not going to pay to replace the part again, so had to take the car back to these cheaters, yet, they insisted it was something else. 500.00 for labor really? I went in for an oil change and a brake check. I have been here before. Previous to coming to this establishment I had diagnostics done to my vehicle. I was told it was just my gas cap. I replaced it. I decided on Firestone because of family recommendation. Don't do it. I paid almost $800 for just front brakes (my vehicle has 47k miles) an oil change. Air filter change and wipers... my check engine light was still on. I asked what the problem was. One very nice service agent told me it should be fine. The- obviously greedy individual- who is new since my previous information from family and friends- said it would be another $300 to just diagnose. I spoke with previous company that I asked help from and the issue only took reattaching the battery. Pretty sad when a company that my family and friends have gone to takes advantage of people. I'm reading some negative reviews here and am honestly surprised. I am a 23 year old woman who is used to auto mechanics assuming I don't know about cars and attempting to gyp me when I get my car repaired. I recently visited South Lakeland Firestone, mentally armed with this expectation. I was pleasantly surprised at the honesty, service received and recommendations for CHEAPEST options for me and my vehicle. I was satisfied with the quality of service and pleasant nature of the attendants not only to myself but to all customers I observed while waiting in the main office. Shoutout to Ronald (I don't remember the other two gentlemen's names but everyone I came in contact with was stellar.) I took my vehicle in to get an alignment done as I have had good service from this location in the past. However, this time was not good by any means. A wheel alignment does not depend on how good the tires are. The tires were not in the best condition admittedly, but there was no damage to the tires other than normal wear. I was told that in order to align the car, that I needed to purchase 4 new tires. This is completely ludicrous as an alignment depends on the wheel, and suspension components being in good working order. I had just replaced the worn suspension components of the vehicle, so they should have aligned the car, rather than trying to get more commission by trying to force me to buy 4 new tires in order to align the vehicle. They have lost my business permanently. This after at least 10 to 15 years of purchasing tires from here. I cannot recommend anyone to go to this location as they will only find ways to upsell and make their commissions look better. read more

Have been taking all of my vehicles here for years and am never disappointed. Mahendra is very professional and very customer-oriented. I always get great service and excellent prices. Mahendra always makes sure he advises me of any specials that are available or coming up. Shout out to Terrence who was also excellent with his handling of our last service appointment. Worst customer service ever! I went there to get a patch for one of my tires and ended up purchasing 4 new tires. After the installation I went to inspect the new tires on my vehicle and I noticed that the rims and tires were all dirty and as I got closer it wasn't dirt on my rims they were deep scratches. I asked to speak with the supervisor and he said that the rims were probably already like that and that it must have happened some where else. I also spoke with the store manager and he said the same thing. I had just washed my vehicle prior to going there, which is how I found the nail in the tire originally. Therefore, I know my rims were not damaged before their installation. It most definitely happened there and they didn't take responsibility. No honesty, unreliable, no professionalism. Felt like I was dealing with a back yard mechanic. Make sure you take time stamped pictures of all your rims before going to this place because they will ask for proof or better yet don't even bother going to this place. read more

I came in to have a long term rental serviced. Apparently the appointment was scheduled at a different time than I noted but they worked me in. While I waited I watched Mahendra take care of an elderly women. He was so kind with her and made sure she knows what was going on. He called her daughter and he made sure that she was not being asked for service she did not need yet. He treated her as if she was his mother. Then I watched him deal with a gentleman who came in who was of the "rugged and questionable" sort. He treated him with the same kindness and respect as the elderly lady and tried to be as helpful as possible. With all the hate we see everywhere, this site was so heartwarming to me. I hate going to any car repair place because as a women I feel they try and take advantage. I did jot feel that way here and they earned my respect and business read more

I made an appointment to have my AC diagnosed. He said it would take 1 to 1 1/2 hours for $60. While in line to drop off my car, he was telling a customer on the phone the bad news, 'you need a new compressor, dryer, condenser etc' $1,500!' So I dropped off my car and 10 minutes later he comes with the same bad news 'you need a new compressor, dryer, condenser etc' $1,500!' No way Jose. Advice from someone I trust was buy a can of coolant for $20 and see if that works. It did. Only come here if you want to burn your money. read more

Horrible experience. Took my car here for a minor repair, ended up taking an extra day. Overnight, leaving the car on their premises, the security system mysteriously fried. During this time the car was held in limbo for nearly two weeks, and I ended up charged for many things. Cruise control also ceased working upon this visit. Hundreds of dollars later and dozens of calls later car was back. Nothing was entirely done right: screw covers are missing, door panel--the minor repair--was not attached properly. The mechanic must have had a heavy hand, because much of the interior has cracked plastic that wasn't there before. Besides all of this, the work wasn't done to my satisfaction, nor to the quality of service I was assured before authorizing. Then again, what could I do if my system 'fried' and the car was effectively hostage here until I paid for service. I was told one thing about the replacement system, which apparently is technically impossible, such that claiming warranty on this service--for not being done to the specification I was told--is rejected outright. They are incredibly courteous, but not forthright on the back end. In the three times--yes, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt--I took the car in since, check engine light and other 'gremlin' issues are flagged that end up not actually being problems. Taking my car elsewhere for a second opinion resolved this. Avoid this place at all costs. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but this place is very shady. read more

I arrived 30 min before shop opening. The Mgr invited me in to wait in the customer lounge. Being 70 years old I appreciated the gesture. I had a nail in one of my tires and it took about 10 minutes for the Mgr walked back in from the garage and dropped a small tack in my hand and said it didn't puncture the tire, and that my "low tire pressure" warning light was probably activated by the recent "cold temp" in the area. They checked all tires for damage, reset the warning light and there was no charge for the service. I am due a 60K maintenance and I am coming back to Firestone! read more

Worst experience ever. I made an appointment at 12 to get an oil change and I regret it. First, my car sat in the same parking lot and didn't even get moved till 1. Then it got moved and I thought it was being worked on, but then I was informed at 2 that it was still not being worked on because they didn't have the right things to lift it. An oil change is a 1 hour max affair and I didn't even get one because I had to leave after being there for 3 hours. read more

My buddy went in for A simple balance twice and on the 2nd go around they still couldn't balance the tire correctly and gave Him his money back and said they will not do any further business with him. I brought my car in for an oil change and when I got home it was leaking oil on my driveway and garage floor. I brought it back 3 times to get the leaks stopped. There was oil all over the undercarriage too. Also, they told me my digital oil reading was not working. So I took it to the dealer(over 50 miles away) who said there was no reading because it was 1.7 quarts low. The manager of the store was very apologetic and tried to get his team to fix it but ..... I really can't recommend them. If they can't get a simple oil change right I certainly would not let them do anything else. read more

This place is ok I guess. I got 4 all new tires in December. The annoying part is they were insisting that my wheel alignment was out. Of course they show you it pulling to the right. With roads in Florida, rain run off etc, everyone's car is going to pull to the right. This has nothing to do with alignment. Nothing was wrong with my alignment. Don't fall for this trick. Also I had to go to a gas station to properly inflate the new tires I received, as they were under inflated. read more

Have been a long time customer and have become very frustrated. Seems like everyone is on commission. Oil change always results in other issues. The last trip needed brakes all around, got a second opinion and only need one set. This time brought my car for 2 tires and an oil change. They said I need alignment. Spoke to a buddy, showed him specs and he said it wasn't grossly out of line. I called ahead to make sure about the time that the car would be ready then I showed up 40 minutes later. Blew a tire. Brought it in. I let the guy know if it could be patched, that is definitely what I wanted. It was was kind-of busy so my 2yr old son and i had to keep ourselves entertained. About 10mis in he bought my tier into the lobby to show me the huge hole in the wall of my tier. (He really wanted me to know he wasn't ripping me off) obviously I got a new tire. While my toddler and i waited one of the guys from behind the counter gave my son a new little hot wheels car! So nice! It kept my little guy busy and we were out the door in the next 10mins. read more

I took my car to Firestone two times because my son said Firestone was a competent place, but this Firestone is not. I will never go back there. First time: I purchased a set of tires and told them I drive about two hundred miles a day, so I need to have my car working perfectly. They put the tires on correctly, but managed to loosen the wheel sensor. Thank God my car did not break down until I was very near my destination. I was stuck there the rest of the week, in a motel, waiting to get a mechanic to reattach my wheel sensor...Second time: I did NOT want to go back, but my son was certain they could bleed the brakes, so he took it there. They did not bleed my brakes and they attempted to upsell me for an entire brake job. I just had all new brakes, AND everything that goes with them, put on. They said it would cost $1100. My friend recommended a local mechanic that he had been using for years, so we had the brakes bled correctly for $73.00 a the other place...not Firestone...Oh, by the way, Firestone charged me $101.00 for bleeding my brakes....which they actually did NOT do. They actually said my son put in a faulty part, which he did not. Also, they said the brakes were "frozen" in place....umm...they did not know to release the parking brake???...that's really bad!!! I have been a continued loyal customer since October 2015. In these 6 months, i have been treated with respect and dignity. I highly recommend this location. The staff here are very friendly and explain things so that you can understand. They do not hesitate to take you out to your vehicle to show you and no questions asked they will show you the old part upon request. This place would be a lot better if it had a different manager. I had taken my car to get new tires, but realized I had left my husbands iPad in the glove compartment and went to retrieve. I asked if I could and they told me yes. However, it wasn't there when I went to look. I told the manager that someone had gotten into my glove compartment and taken it out -- it is not uncommon for mechanics to steal things from cars. The manager became enraged, saying that I was stupid and an idiot for leaving the iPad in the car in the first place. He also said that he wasn't going to get it back for me, giving me the classic excuse "One mans trash is another mans treasure." I never got it back. read more

Run, do not walk from this Firestone. The first oil change experience resulted with the interior filthy with grease prints. The second oil change experience was even more frustrating. Over the phone, the rep was trying to sell me services not requested while trying to make an appointment. I arrived and he further tried pushing the upsale service, without even looking at the vehicle. All I want is an oil change. long wait time even after appointment. went in for 2 tires to be replaced and an aligment. I had to wait 3 1/2 hours (image if I didn't have an appt.?). Also now my tire warning light stays on. I was told to drive it for 20 mins. and it would go away. have gone 200 miles and light is still on. NOT GOING BACK EVER AGAIN!! read more
