Went to the Firestone at Kempsville need fuel line pressure sensor replaced and called my boyfriend and told him several things wrong with my car and the engine had major issues. We decided not to have the work done took my vehicle home and found out some of the things he said were wrong were not true engine is fine. Also we asked about the labor rate and the guy we spoke to at the front desk said 30 or 35 dollars an hour he thinks but did not know. On multiple occasions, the service manager (Bob) and his mechanics have stopped me from having a service completed, that had been indicated/recommended by another service center, because it really wasn't needed. I now rely on this Firestone to service my 2 cars and Jeep, getting good advice to keep them running and safe, vice the dealership where the vehicles were purchased, where it feels like I am being upsold on services not needed. Came here for state inspection and failed for both front struts. Will cost $1200 to replace with alignment. I said no thanks since I've replaced many of these myself. Finally got a chance to replace it yesterday and discovered that both struts weren't leaking at all. Sent pics and videos to mechanics I know and all verified that they looked good. Going to take it somewhere else to get inspected and if it passes then I'll pursue this further. My co worker took her car there two days after me and failed for the same thing. read more

Warning! This Firestone branch does not operate with honesty. I visited this location for a state inspection without first checking online customer reviews, and I fell into a scam. My car was in perfect working condition and only required a routine check for the inspection. However, Firestone failed my inspection, citing lower control arm wear as the issue. I was quoted an estimated repair cost of $1199.65, which didn't seem right to me. I explained that my car was in good shape, and I couldn't afford this repair, so I might get the inspection done elsewhere.On the very same day after I brought my car back.my coolant started leaking, which had never happened before. I don't believe it's a coincidence; I suspect the staff at this branch may have tampered with my car. Two days later, I successfully passed the state inspection at another location. however, I had to spend few hundreds at another auto shop to get coolant Leak fixed, and they provided a professional assessment that suggested deliberate sabotage. I genuinely can't fathom why they would engage in such unethical behavior, tarnishing Firestone's reputation. I urge everyone not to come to this location for any services. read more

I went for an inspection and was told the oil light was coming on. I knew this, and I was due for an oil change. I was told they could do diagnostics to determine why the oil light was on. I asked if they checked the oil level. The man said no. I said do you think maybe I need oil? He said they just want me to be safe. Really??? So I should pay $100+ to be told I need an oil change and oil? Talk about up charging. I'm not sure what safety has to do with it. That is ridiculous. The girl who works at the counter was super rude over the phone. I called to see if I could speak to a mechanic because my car wouldn't start. I dont know if she thought I was blaming them, or just being defensive because she likes being rude. I tried to tell her 4 times that I was only looking for a possible quick fix to get me back on the road. I dont think she ever heard me because she was too busy talking over me to listen. The only good thing I can say about Firestone on Ring road is the location is convenient If I need work again I'll go to the Firestone on Battlefield and Kempsville rd. Had work done on a simple transmission speed sensor ... needed to be changed. 10mm bolt and a clip and it was done .. the only reason I didn't do it myself is because I couldn't find the part.. but they were changing the sensor and they broke the bolt into my transmission so now the sensor is just sitting there.. they referred me to a transmission shop .. they have to drop the transmission to get a 10cent bolt out. And it was going to cost 900-1100 dollars to drop the transmission. VERY disappointed never going here again. Oh they still charged me 431 dollars for that for there fuck up. read more

Took van here to repair a tire with a nail in it and to get state inspection. The nail was near the outside of the tire but was well within the tread so in my opinion was repairable. The inspector rejected the tire and would not repair it, and said we needed to buy a new tire from them to get the state inspection I picked up the van and took it around the corner and had another tire place that patched it for repair, I then brought the van back to fire stone to get the state inspection complete. I felt like they were making me buy a tire from them, instead of just merely repairing the tire. I ended up having to go there three times and to a different place all on a Sunday afternoon taking about four hours total, whereas if the nail in the tire was just repaired initially I could've been in and out with only visiting one place read more

I had my SUV towed here to have a new battery installed. Turns out I also needed a new fuel line which I knew was if not then, in the very bear future, needed replacing, Work was done in a timely manner but whoever dud the work left my car torn apart ( I'm guessing they removed some pieces to get the work done fine, but it was lnot put back in place when they finished. It was raining so hard the day I picked it up I didn't carefully check my vehicle before leaving butit was ridiculous if you are trying to build a new clientele. Second time I took my car there for an oil chsnge. I booked my appointment online for the standard $34.95 or about that cost (just a hyundai), went to pick it up and they said uh owed $69.95. No call to say hey, manufacturers recommend s this instead of what you asked for which would have been ok if they had called and asked first. Sumole. My check engine light came on and i wanted to get it checked, so i brought it in to get it read. they told me i needed to bring it to nissan to get a complete software update which could cause hundreds of dollars. My friend at work happened to have a reader so he checked it (because their reasoning seemed off). After getting the reading I found that my MAF sensor was acting up. So i changed the air filter and my check engine light went off THE NEXT DAY. Would not recommend this location. read more

The Firestone on battlefield road is in my opinion one of the few reliable and honest mechanics left. They will tell you if the service is needed and in my case, tell me if it is not. It is refreshing not to have to do all the work on my vehicles all the time. Thank god for shops that just want to do good work and not squeeze all your money. If you need work done this is one of my only go to shops that I will take my vehicles to. Otherwise I'll do the work myself. read more

Got a small hex head screw in tire on Dominion Blvd. Didn't have my plug kit with me, even though I have plugged tires with exact type of screw before without issues at home. There was nobody at any of the 3 kiosk registers but after about 5 minutes someone arrived and proceeded to take out phone number, email, etc. I asked how much they charge to plug a tire and they said $20... Or $30. After about 20 minutes she rolled the tire into the waiting area and said she had bad news and just pointed to the screw (the screw was at a perfect 90 degree angle and was not near a sidewall and no damage to the tire around the screw. I said, just remove the screw and plug it. She said they couldn't because they only have short plugs (whatever that means). Maybe they have the mushroom style plugs, but either way, there is absolutely no reason why either style of plug wouldn't work. I just asked them to put the tire back on the car so we could go home and fix it myself. I didn't want to wait around for the sales pitch to buy 4 crappy Firestone tires. While I was waiting in the lobby, I noticed a banner saying that 1 in 4 car batteries are bad so Firestone should replace your battery for you. I read the other review about the failed inspection for a wiper blade (which they offer to change for $75); this is the same scam used by many inspection stations - stay away and go somewhere else. read more

My car was repaired there today, 1/3/20. When the salesperson rang up my total, I asked her about military discounts. She first said to me, I wished you had said something I rang you up. I said to her, well you didn't ask. She said she thought the technician had gone over all of that. I told her no. She then said she didn't know what to do since she had already rung me up. I told her to gEt her manager. Of course, the manager isn't there. I told her to call the manager and ask what to do. She did call and came back and said the only they could do was offer me a free oil change. A free oil change did not compare to a 10% discount off of $1600!!! I don't want a free oil change! I want my discount!!!! I asked her if she could void the sale and ring it up again and apply the discount, like other stores! She said no. I will be complaining to the manager tomorrow and calling the corporate office. I have already written the corporate office about this as well. The service at this location is incredibly slow. I just needed to get my tires changed and an oil change and reasonably expected a 2 hour wait. I dropped off my car at 2pm expecting to pick up the vehicle at 4pm at the latest. When I arrived back at the location 1 hour after dropping off the vehicle I discovered that my car had not moved from where I left it. I then asked the cashier what the time line for my vehicle was looking like and they replied that it would be close to closing time before I could pick up my vehicle. I had to wait 5 hours to get my tires and oil changed. I highly recommend staying away from this location if expecting a reasonable service time. This is unsatisfactory at best. read more
