HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Found this place back in Spring 2011 when-then my fiancé and I moved in Newport. We ate at Newport Tokyo House and wondered into this building, had no idea what it was, bought tickets and we were hooked. Came back many times until we moved out of Newport. Never thought we'd be back in Newport again but once we moved into our home we went straight back to watch the Bit Players. We'll be returning until we leave again this Summer

Loved the cabaret, lots of fun ,corny jokes but they made me laugh, plenty of singing had a great time. Oh and don't forget you get a play included in your cost. A Twisted Christmas Carol; Review Newport Playhouse Dec 1,…read more2025 Complicated. Not the play but the fact I and others, enjoying 3 days in Newport RI in a tour group, were basically a captive audience. "Dinner and a show" is how our itinerary put it. We ate a decent meal in the dining area and then all traipsed upstairs into this cozy little theatre. The stage was more than a proscenium because it projected out, bringing the actors into a more intimate relationship to the audience. (Just a note here: The seats were comfortable but the seat in front of you - seat pitch - was abysmally close. After 3/4 of an hour my knees began to hurt badly.) The play is a loose take on Dickens' Christmas Carol, with a 'Christmas past/Christmas present/Christmas future' structure. All action takes place in a small barbecue pub in west Texas. The proprietor (John Brennan), a grossly insensitive husband to his partner wife (Cass Caduto), is concerned for his business which is sliding downhill. Advice and antics from his live-in customer (Kol Daniel Cross) are scant help. The action unfolds with the help of a former employee (Rosa Nguyen) and the proprietor's former business partner (Matt Goldstein) who stole his barbecue sauce recipe years ago and has profited from it. Oh yes, that business partner is also the wife's former romantic partner, uh-oh. I could not find the author's name for this play. I suspect it was locally written by one or another of the actors or production staff. Maybe it was like a "Oh, we gotta put something together for our Christmas show" collaboration. The script produced a few jarring moments, as when the proprietor who has been in an accident and comatose in the hospital being visited by Christmas ghosts suddenly returns in full health. But the actors clearly enjoyed putting this on. The audience laughed and I think had fun watching although a few may not have had much experience with live performances. At the conclusion they started to leave and were surprised when the actors came out for a curtain-call bow. Ouch!

We actually stumbled upon this place by accident. We were a very large party (10+ people and…read moremultiple children) and they got us a seat with ease and zero wait. And they were pretty busy already! We opted for outdoor seating. It was a fun view, on a ground level covered deck! The kids loved it! Our waiter was great! Super friendly and always on top of getting us refills and whatever else we needed. The food was delicious! Definitely recommend this place to everyone in the Newport Area. Location, friendly staff, delicious menu.. Warf Fishhouse definitely gets a 10/10 in my book!

We stopped by Wharf Fishhouse & Tiki Bar specifically to try the tiki drinks. My husband is really…read moreinto tiki cocktails and has spent a lot of time reading about and making drinks from Smuggler's Cove, Don the Beachcomber, and the classic tiki tradition, so we were excited to see what Newport's tiki bar was doing. Unfortunately, the drinks were a pretty big disappointment. We asked for an original/classic Mai Tai, rather than the restaurant's interpretation or a modern spin. What we received was essentially just a glass of rum. There was very little citrus or almond/orgeat character coming through. A classic Mai Tai should have a much more balanced combination of rum, citrus, and orgeat, and the drink we received didn't come close. I also asked if they could make a Saturn. They said they could, although they couldn't make it frozen--which isn't actually an issue since a classic Saturn doesn't need to be frozen. The drink tasted fine, but it didn't really taste like a Saturn. The service itself was nice, and the staff did try to accommodate our requests, so this isn't a complaint about the people working there. That said, if a bar can't confidently execute a classic cocktail, I'd honestly rather they say so and recommend something from their menu than serve something that doesn't resemble the drink being requested. That's ultimately what left us disappointed. We weren't expecting every drink to be historically perfect, and there's absolutely room for creative tiki riffs. But if you're going to call yourself a Tiki Bar, being able to execute at least some of the foundational classics seems pretty important. The waterfront location is fun, and if you're simply looking for a fruity tropical cocktail while wandering around Newport, this might be your spot. But for someone genuinely interested in tiki cocktails, this felt more like a tourist-friendly waterfront bar serving tropical drinks than an authentic tiki bar with a serious cocktail program.

"Pretty little legs, I want to draw them Like a Degas…read moreballerina Pure white skin, like porcelain She's a work of art and I should know I'm an art lover" (The Kinks) We were taking a leisurely stroll along Thames Street when we saw a nice gray and blue art gallery with big signs that read "Retirement Sale". Well, that was all we needed to head inside. The store is gorgeous with framed canvases, unframed canvases, and hundreds of frames everywhere. The store has a huge inventory, but it was super-neatly organized and felt uncluttered. We saw art styles of every description - landscapes, seascapes, abstracts, realistic and stylized human and animal portraits, a very deep variety of colors, artistic approaches and sizes. We had recently remodeled a bathroom and wanted a piece of artwork to hang there. We both agreed on a 12"x16" oil painting of a gray seascape with a lighthouse, beach/ocean scenery, moored boats and a full moon. The color themes perfectly complemented our wall color, and what's even better is that we could choose whatever frame we wanted. We went with a grayish/white distressed frame that reminded us of driftwood. Man -- it was perfect. The store will be closing soon because the owner is retiring, so there are some very sweet sales going on right now. For the oil painting and frame, we paid $84.53 and had the pleasure of working with Gallery manager Lisa Amado to transact the purchase. She packaged everything up so carefully and gave us such detailed hanging instructions, you'd have thought we just bought the Lost Ark of the Covenant!
