On this visit, there were two vendors offering free samples. Uhm, yes, please. One was a local distillery (https://giadistillery.com), and the other was Cîroc. GIA makes a grappa so good that it was voted the best luxury grappa in the world in 2021! Having lived in Munich before and spending lots of 3 day weekends in Italy via a short drive, I love grappa. Not knowing about this award,when I tried their grappa, it was heavenly. I picked up a bottle of the grappa along with a bottle of their whiskey. They also had bottles of their vodka, but that's not my drink; I leave that and gin to my wife. I'll visit the GIA distillery and do a full review soon. Back to this ABC store, there are plenty of helpful employees. The store is also very bright and inviting, which I appreciate. I don't like dimly lit stores. They are depressing. Some of the other items I picked up were a bottle of Travelers whiskey, a collaboration between the Buffalo Trace distillery, and Chris Stapleton, and a bottle of John A. P. Connelly whiskey. This is another North Carolina product. It's difficult to find their products in stock. I like the rye and have never had their whiskey. But they had two bottles of whiskey, so I grabbed one to try. They also had a bottle of Bookers on the shelf, which is also difficult to find. In fact, I've only ever found it here. 5 stars all day long.

I came here one day because they had Buffalo Trace, which is very hard to find, and I wanted to get some for my dad. While I was here, I discovered a vodka seltzer variety pack made from Dogfish Head. I love this brewery so I just had to try it! This is the only ABC store I've visited that had this seltzer as well as so many coolers. I appreciate being able to get a pack that's already cold after a long day at work.

This location opened at 8 am & I arrived shortly after this time. The place was quiet, other than workers passing by and greeting each other as they prepared for the day. It appeared to be tidy and well organized. I even took a quick glimpse at their beauty and some oral hygiene items during my visit. I will return to purchase some natural toothpaste & natural soaps I found today. The herbs and teas were all self serve & the clean scoops they provide for each use is nice. The area also has hand sanitizer and pens to write the names and codes for each selection. This also allows for a smooth checkout experience. It had turkey, shaved parmesan, marinated cherry tomato, house-made Caesar dressing, onion, and romaine lettuce in an 8" sandwich roll. It was a little pricey at $15, but it was worth the splurge. The dressing and parmesan cheese were unbelievable! Since this is in downtown Greensboro, there is no dedicated parking lot but we easily found street parking nearby. It was also, and still may be, one of the popular gas stations and convenience stores for High Point Central High School students. I know it was during the time I was a student there. I'd regularly see my classmates at Smitty's or go there with them. In high school, I used to go to Smitty's to fill up my parents' cars and use their credit cards to pay for gas. I always wondered if the cashiers inside would question me about using credit cards that weren't mine, but they never did. This was back in the days when pumps didn't have credit card readers on them. Also, IIRC, this was a Union 76 gas station then (late 90s), but the convenience store was still Smitty's. Today and for years now, the gas station is an "E Stop" (eSTOP) which I've never seen anywhere else. This is a small station with eight pumps. Despite the bigger-name gas stations and convenience stores that have come and gone on the catty-corner properties (e.g. BP, Sheetz) Smitty's has persevered.

Being here transports you back to simpler times that feels like Old Town USA. The old counter, low bar stools, still operating drug store and sundries section.... it's a real life throwback that so many of us hold dearly.
