Stopped by last week for a Value Burger. Cost about $6.00. It was a Cheeseburger with Lettuce, onion and tomato. Burger comparable to Jack's as far as size and flavor. Just skimpy on the vegees. Two strips of onion? Small tomato .

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Curly Fries

We were in the area doing some shopping and found Firegrill through Yelp. I was excited about their cuisine, as it appeared like American food but then also had some Mexican options. They are located in the food court of the mall. It's shared, open seating and the day we went was just before the Christmas holiday, so was definitely busy. Our food came out relatively quickly and the price was affordable for a quick lunch in the mall! My husband really likes the buffalo chicken sandwich. I thought the loaded bowl was delicious and I was able to specify spicy sauce. I would definitely go back if we are in the area! The service was great for ordering and receiving food at the counter.

Fire grill is located at the food court at the mall in Santa Maria. My son and I were traveling and used the Tesla chargers at the mall so we got some lunch. My son got the loaded fries with grilled chicken. They were okay, not a lot of flavor. I ordered the Rodeo Char burger. The meat was really good. It was a half chicken half brisket meat mixture. Burgers are sold by themselves. You can order fries or onions on the side if you want. Overall it was a nice spot for lunch.

Woody's Butcher Block absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered the single-patty burger, pulled…read morepork taco, brisket taco, coleslaw, and potato salad, and every single item was outstanding. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the tacos were packed with delicious smoked meat, and the sides were fresh and complemented the meal perfectly. The tri tip was very flavorful! probably the best tri tip I had ever had. TH=here was some good smoke flavor in that meat. Sliced very thin, it was so easy to eat. No fighting the meat. Bread was buttered. BBQ on the side was Sweet Baby Ray's. I found that the BBQ sauce took away from the sammich, so I did very little dipping. If I come again, which I hope I do, I will order that sammich, but prepared in the same manner in which they prepare the roast beef sandwich. We took some chile verde sausages home to try, and those have a strong and memorable chile taste. For people who do not like spicy, beware. For the rest of us it is a satisfying burn. It is a pork sausage. Wife denied the purchase of the blackberry habanero sausage, so I will be left wondering about those. We also grabbed their pesto mayo. We will be trying that this week. I think I would have liked it on my tri tip sammich. I love pesto on anything. Place ain't cheap, but what is?

The restaurant was clean and modern which is a huge plus. I thought the food tasted great, albeit a bit heavy. That said, you know what you're getting when you go to a burger joint. I liked seeing some nice salad options as well. I am a fan and already recruited my husband to grab lunch there with me again soon!

The weekend was a blur of driving and activity, and then it was time to head back south toward home. We often stop in Santa Maria for gas. Before they shuttered, we ate at Cracker Barrel a number of times. In the same shopping plaza there's a Habit Burger. We decided to give them a try, have a meal, and decompress from the busy weekend for a short time. Ordering went smoothly. I miss their charbroiled cheeseburgers as I can't tolerate cow's milk cheese anymore. Just a plain burger isn't that interesting to me. Habit does have the option of grilled tuna, which is quite unique in the fast casual dining space. I wasn't that hungry, so opted for their chicken strips, and DH and I shared half and half fries and onion rings. Not the fanciest meal ever, but it was nice to relax together and enjoy decent quality food. Habit seems to source better quality ingredients than some other chain restaurants do. I like that they offer salads, but I wasn't in that mood either. The food was hot and fresh once our order was available and we had the dinner break we needed to push on to the rest of the trip home. Interior of the restaurant was clean. Service was friendly. All good.
