Originally a fire station, today we know it as Fire Station Day Nursery. As one of the best in Mossley, it proves it flies high above the rest. With modern facilities such as a sensory theatre and outdoor play area, it caters for all ages and even has a soft play area for the young ones. One special feature they have is a fabulous indoor toy town, where kids can let their mind roam free. They cater for us adults too with a social room and refreshments available. This really is a modern day nursery. There are top of the range CCTV cameras so your children are safe at all times. The fact that they have age-specific rooms is what makes this place so unique. Fantastic nursery. We've been using them since it opened in 2008 and our son has worked his way through all the rooms from baby to pre-school. The staff and constant investment in new equipment really set them apart. Our son has a food allergy and the have catered for him really well and set aside extra time and effort. I am writing this review as just having qualified as a Nursery Nurse I now know the legislation and Ofsted requirements most parents won't be aware of what should be done whilst their child is at Nursery. My daughter has attended The Firestation Day Nursery since it opened at the beginning of 2008 our first impression of this Nursery where that it was first class but oh how we've learnt different, all the cosmetics sides of things like toys and equipment are brilliant but unfortunately the other side of things are not so brilliant, my daughter was at the Nursery for 2 years and 8 months and in that time her observations, next steps and tracking record (an Early Years Foundation Stage requirement since Sept 10) have not been completed as they should have been and we only have 5 photographs of her early years all of which were taken when she was small, we have no recent photos despite asking on more than one occasion for copies none have been forthcoming so unfortunately we have no memories of her first years at Nursery and we don't know whether our daughter is bright for her age or if she is behind for her age! Our opinion, should we have to find a Nursery again is that "Looks are not everything!" Give me a Nursery that looks run down with old equipment but who do follow Ofsted guidelines and complete regular observations sheets and take plenty of photos of your child for you as a keepsake! The car park at the Firestation is horrendous and dangerous for parking, the restaurant next door has his advertising signs on both sides of the Nursery car park but despite complaints from parents the owner does nothing. Firestation Day Nursery - won't be recommending this to anyone! I have made a complaint to Ofsted about this nursery. read more
