As I approach my one-year wedding anniversary, I figure I can finally write this review…read more I hired Jerrod to be my wedding photographer. After a lengthy nationwide search for the 'best' photographer (based on package, price, aesthetics, personality) my husband and I chose Jerrod as one of our first vendors, as it was one of our most important ones. It's been over a year since I've known Jerrod now, and I can say that without a doubt, he has been the most attentive, respectful, and accommodating person I worked with throughout the whole wedding process. I was unhappy about some of my bridal portraits, and when I brought the subject up to him, he was understanding and tried to do whatever he could to remedy the situation. When we were done buying our pictures and still had credit left on our account, he made an arrangement for us to get the DVD of all of our photos - engagement, bridals, and wedding. He was always prompt in communicating and I could always count on hearing from him within a day or two, never more! As for the quality of the photos, albums, prints, etc - we could not be happier. Both of our parents were absolutely thrilled with the pictures and the quality of the albums that came in our package. Our personal album is also of excellent quality (and HUGE to boot!). Our parents are still talking, even a year later, about how professional but kind and warm that Jerrod was (and is!). Although our professional relationship with Jerrod is over, he feels now like an old friend who we will stay in contact with for years to come.

I went to Applewood Farm for the wedding of a close friend this last May. I was one of her 4 bridesmaids, and I happen to use a wheelchair. I tend to be good at getting myself around places, but this place had gravel everywhere, and gravel is impossible for wheelchair wheels. It didn't matter, though, because the owner went above and beyond to make things as easy as possible for me. She got out one of the golf carts they use to get people from the parking lot to the ceremony area, and took me around absolutely everywhere I had to go. For the pictures, I decided I'd stand in them, since I can stand for a few minutes at least, and my current chair isn't very pretty. The owner was right behind the photographer the whole time with my chair or a golf cart, ready to swoop in as soon as my muscles started to give out. This gesture of kindness was so heartfelt, I was so impressed with her help. I believe her name was Susan, maybe? Not only was the staff incredible, the place is absolutely gorgeous. From the bride/ groom dressing cabins to the barn for the reception, to the ceremony area and everywhere in between, this place is beautiful. My friends pictures looked like something out of a fairytale. I'd recommend this place to anybody. It's a perfect place to host the best party you'll ever go to.

Once that month hit, it was as if a weight was lifted off my shoulders. While Jayna did remind me of some things I needed to organize, she guided me 95% of the way and then made sure it was finished. I didn't realize what was going on behind the scenes, but I now know how much she had to communicate with vendors and family to make sure the wedding ran smoothly. Jayna has a calm, relaxing, yet attentive attitude. She took care of me when there were glitches that I could have cared less about. She really did a great job. While she may not have had as much experience as some of the other Bham wedding planners, she has enough to understand what needs to happen. More importantly, she loves what she does and that shows!

It's clear, however, that they are a very young business and cannot balance the demands that come along with managing multiple clients. When we started the process, we clearly stated what we'd like to hire them for: invitations, then menu cards and different reception pieces. During the discussions on how our invitations would be designed, they became extremely defensive, getting noticeably upset with us for not liking their work and telling us we had little review time left so we needed to pick something quickly. Eager to get the invitations processed and move on to the next step, my fiancé and I did everything in our power to respond quickly and efficiently. To complicate matters, we only met with them one time face to face before we moved out of town, and were working on everything via phone and e-mail. We had to almost beg to speak to them over the phone just to explain what we wanted. At the end of the process, after making several mistakes with shipping our materials, they told us they had "too many clients, too much work, and would be unable to complete our projects." That was about three weeks before the wedding, so my fiancé and I, in addition to wrapping up the plans for our out-of-town wedding, had to scramble to DIY the rest of our reception printed materials. Perhaps Hi Note is more responsive and reliable when working with in-town clients, but if they have the ability to cut off a client before the work is done, then I wouldn't put it past them to drop any project that didn't excite them or fire any couple who doesn't completely buy in to their design aesthetic. I would strongly encourage anyone to look elsewhere, and to find a business that has a solid reputation spanning many years and strong, positive reviews. It's certainly worth the peace of mind to hire a competent and caring design firm, and Hi Note has a long way to go to become one.
