I have had consistently good service there and always found the staff to be very nice. It might cost a bit more than most student places for a cut, but it is worth it as there is virtually no waiting time (of course you have to book an appointment). I have had haircuts that take over 2 hours at other student places, that is not the case here. I found it because I admired a coworkers new haircut and asked her where she got it done. Now it's my regular place. I've also had my hair highlighted there, and it turned out really well. Don't be nervous about getting service from students as they can always consult with their teacher (and the teacher will come and check out their work at some point as well). Today I made a really bold choice in going to a training salon to have my hair lightened substantially from chestnut brown to beige blonde. I can't even begin to explain how happy I am that I made the choice to go to Fiorio Training Academy. I've been to Fiorio on St. Clair before and while the experience wasn't bad, I found that $90 was rather pricey for a hair cut however, the training academy was a far superior experience. The staff was extremely friendly and being that I was getting a full head of highlights, a cut and a deep conditioning treatment, I was passed along to two of the students with some assistance from 3 others- they were all phenomenal. Aaron did my full head of highlights, which is usually around 40 foils, from what I've been told. He must have put in at least 80 into my head (I have very thick hair). The placement was perfect. Extremely gentle, very friendly, and genuinely so passionate about what he was doing. I felt I was in great hands. I spent 4 hours of my salon visit with him and I loved every second of it, and it cost me only $90. Amazing. Robyn did the trim which rang in at an impressive $27, for an hour of her time and the watchful eye of an instructor. She was such a blast to speak with and the cut came out perfectly. This was my first time at the beauty academy and overall had a good experience and also found the staff to be very nice and friendly (they even greet you with a cup of coffee or tea!). I got a colour, partial baylage highlights and cuts. For the colour and highlights ($80), I was very happy with the results given then price and the instructor did a very good job checking the work and it was done in reasonable time (~ 2.5 hours). I ended up with dark brown chocolate colour with caramel highlights and the instructor did a great job of coaching the student on picking the right colour, pulling all the colour through the ends and doing a last check on the colour. For the hair cut, this was so so ($27). The student seemed very new and did very little cutting - they seemed actually a bit stuck in terms of how to cut hair and spent most of the time brushing and combing through my hair and just looking a bit stuck. The instructor did come over when called, and stepped in to do some additional layering (I asked for a simple shoulder length layered cut). However, the student didn't appear to know how to do a blow out at all (it was quite obvious that the hair was not blown out properly) and didn't do any more cutting after that including checking the cut. The instructor didn't check the cut but by that time I had been at the salon for about 3 hours and was ready to head home! I'm sure if I had pushed the issue, the instructor would have come over to fix the cut. Overall, I would definitely recommend for colour and I think depending on the student and the level you get, the cut could also be quite good (and the instructors, when called, are very open to stepping in and fixing things up!) read more

Got a trim by a blonde lady (forgot her name, I think she came from Holland?). Her supervisor was on her toes, which made me feel more comfortable. I got a trim, since I have no layers nothing went wrong. I'll probably come again. Very accessible, right across from Davisville subway. I went in to the fiorio academy to get highlights for a lower price than a normal salon. Huge mistake. The stylist who worked on me was a man, his name was "Jolt" I think. Also a lady (who I think was the manager) was helping. I got a half head of highlights. Before the highlights my hair was healthy and it had been highlighted once before without any problems. When they finished the foils and toned and washed my hair, as soon as he started to brush it I knew something was wrong. The hair that was highlighted was completely bleach damaged and white, not the honey blonde colour that I had specifically chosen out of the hair colour book. It was also snapping off because it was so damaged. I think what happened is they used a developer that was too high and left it on for too long, my hair was not damaged before but it is fine so it lightens quickly. The way they treated me after was awful. The man stylist, Jolt, said that I should have considered using olaplex as it would have helped with the damage. This is an expensive treatment that we didn't discuss during my consultation. Also, the attitude they had to me after ruining my hair was horrendous. The woman blamed me for not having a haircut before, and she also said to me when I started crying that "it's just hair". I can't believe she said this to me considering I paid them $100 to do my hair. They still made me pay after they ruined my hair, and the only thing they offered me was a free hair cut and a bottle of deep conditioner. Obviously I didn't take the haircut because I didn't want these people to touch my hair again. When I went back the next day to get the deep conditioner bottle, they first tried to make me pay for it, then they said the first protein conditioner they were going to give me was "sold out" (although I had been there the day before and saw a bottle of it) and gave me a cheaper bottle of deep conditioner. I ended up having to go to a real salon and get an olaplex treatment and a haircut to try and get my hair a little healthier, this cost me $130. I also had to get completely new (and expensive) products for my hair that contained protein and keratin to help try and rebuild my hair. No products can fully reverse bleach damage. This mistake they made will affect me for years because my hair will not be the same until the hair they bleached has completely grown out and been cut off. For years my formerly healthy hair will be weak and damaged because these people did not know what they were doing. Overall, the stylists were either rushed and not thinking, or just didn't understand how to bleach hair properly. I would not recommend getting your hair coloured by the stylist Jolt, or any of the stylists there at all actually, considering the way they treated me after they made a mistake. Also considering the fact that the senior stylist at the store was helping him do my hair and oversaw the whole process. The salon I went to after for the olaplaex treatment and haircut was the Fiorio at st Clair and Yonge, the stylist I had there was named Ashley and she did a wonderful job giving me advice on how to help with this and gave me the best haircut she could considering she had to blow dry my hair and cut it dry because you couldn't brush my hair without pieces of it snapping off. I would highly recommend going to either this salon (the Fiorio at Yonge and st Clair) or some other reputable salon that has experienced stylists who actually know what they're doing. The price difference is worth it when you know the person doing your hair won't ruin it. I ended up paying about 3 times more than I initially thought I would have and ended up with completely ruined hair. DONT GO HERE. Ps. This happened August 3rd of 2017. I've been to the beauty academy a couple times and had great experiences both times. I usually go in for a haircut and the appointment can take a bit of time. The students are very diligent and check everything by the instructor. 27$ includes shampoo, hair cut and blow dry so it's definitely worth it. I would suggest keeping 2 - 3 hours free depending on the hairstyle you want, and longer if you're planning on colouring your hair. read more

Fiorio is a school and so if you like saving money and have time to spare this is a great place to get your hair done. I have been here many times and it depends a lot on who you get to determine your experience. The instructors are pretty good and check all the work the whole way through. A cut and colour can take a long time as everything takes longer when learning. I think that's reasonable and I don't mind coming here to get my hair done. read more

For a school this is a really great place to get your hair cut if you are on a budget. Even with hair treatments (mine is quite damaged from years of dying it), I've never spent more than $45 including tip (but not including take home products). The staff are very friendly, and I always feel comfortable from the moment I walk in.The thing I love most about coming here is that the students actually listen to what I want done with my hair, and I have always walked out satisfied. One of the things I enjoy the most about getting my haircut at a school rather than a salon is that they do things more slowly so I can learn a little when my hair is being styled and reproduce that "just got my hair done" look. The instructors also monitor the haircut and will step in to fix anything you don't like. read more

Don't get your hair bleached here - they fried mine. Some salons, like this one, use stronger chemicals so that they can quicken the process and have you out sooner. Not a good idea. I've been to other places where they do it right and my hair has never been healthier. read more

I visited this school for the first time, and was impressed overall by the color and service I received from the student. With that being said, I was horrified at the way the students were treated by their teacher. He was very belittling and tried to intimidate the student in front of me! He actually yelled at her, which made her nervous throughout the rest of my service. I didn't catch his name but he had dark hair. I felt uncomfortable and wonder how the students are treated when the customers aren't there. I will not be returning, as I would rather spend my money at a salon that treat their employees well. A positive environment is equally as important to me as the service I'm receiving. read more

I figured I'd check out Fiorio b/c it was close to my house and I wanted my hair done cheaply. The salon is clean and bright and everyone was friendly. The bottomline is, you should not expect to have the best cut or color of your life----it's being done by a STUDENT who is, essentially, brand new to the field. The whole process took about 3 hours for my cut and highlights (longer than usual, but they do warn you of that before you book). My cut was good....but I'd only asked for a basic trim. I fee like it was worth the $25 or whatever price they charge. Color, not so much. I think the problem actually lies with the instructors! There were three of them jumping in and out of helping my stylist---the one who started with her when I was explaining how I wanted my color to look left for the day right after the consultation. So, the guy who took over hadn't seen my natural color (gulp) or heard me explain the outcome I wanted (double gulp). My hair turned out a bit brassy (IMO) and definitely several shade lighter than I'd wanted. Not the end of the world, but annoying now that it's a month later and growing in and my roots are hideous (usually I can get away with 12 weeks in between colorings). The color was something like $80 or 90 for the partial highlights and I had a "tuck in" color to cover grays.....so, the price was right...but the results weren't. I don't think I'll be back. It's worth it to me to pay more and get better results from a much more experienced stylist. But, I knew the risk going in so the only person to blame is myself. read more
