I used to like this place until they failed my car for inspection for brakes (the vehicle had less than 3000 miles on it since the last time they inspected it). No problem, if it fails, it fails, you get it fixed. They wanted over $800 for brakes. I said no and took it to another mechanic, who told me my brakes were fine and passed the inspection. Left the keys inside the vehicle unlocked knowing they were being targeted for vehicle thefts (I wonder why), allowing my vehicle to be stolen off the lot, and did not inform me conveniently until I had completed payment. When asked why they would leave the keys inside of the vehicles while they are going to the lengths of blocking their gate with their wrecker, I was told by John, "I wish I could tell you, thats just how they have been doing things." read more

Long story short: I was told by someone at the register that the guys put coolant in my radiator that was leaking and had "zero coolant in it when they checked." I asked her if she could confirm that they did in fact put coolant in my radiator that had none before I drove off. She came back to the front and told me that they actually did not. I came in for an inspection. They are no nonsense profession polite and QUICK. I was in and out in 15 minutes. I ended up taking a tour of the shop. The work area looks like a scene of the Sons of Anarchy shop. They have Gas pumps ,Soda machines, Peddle cars from the 1930's and 1940's! It's really neat . On the walls are historical news articles and pictures. You really take a walk in a time machine while getting your car maintenanced. They specialize in State Inspections Speed Calebrations, Fuel Pumps, AC recharging and more. Thanks to the Finks staff a good experience as always. read more

We had just recently moved from Hawaii and bought a brand new car from someone with a passed Safety Inspection. Before we had shipped it here, we had to do another Safety Inspection and passed it. We to Fink's "Car Care" because we needed to renew the car inspection sticker for our car. I'm not going to lie it was cheap, $20.00 to check your car for the safety inspection, however, they wanted to charge me $200+ for some "control arm they said is bad" and random lightbulbs were no good when we had had just replaced them by another repair company. They took longer than they should've only to fail us for some bullshit and wasted our time and money. UPDATE: WE PASSED OUR STATE INSPECTION AT ANOTHER CAR REPAIR SHOP AT BOB EWELL TIRE IN PORTSMOUTH. FINK'S IS A PIECE OF SHIT LIAR. NO LIGHTBULB OR ARM CONTROL BULLSHIT WAS BROKEN. WE ONLY PAID THE STATE INSPECTION FEE OF $20.00 WHICH WAS AROUND THE SAME PRICE AT FINK'S BUT THEY WANTED TO BE DUMBASSES AND ASSHOLES THAT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. read more

Took my car here and they failed the car saying i need brake pads. So i went to get new brake pads and Firestone told me and showed me that my existing brake pads were as new. When took car back to finks the inspector didn't seem to want to hear what i had to say. Finks will not be doing anything else for my vehicles. read more

Amazing place, I was quoted over $1,200 for ball joints at a firestone location and wanted to get a second opinion. I knew family members who have been to Fink's and spoke very highly of it. I made and appt. and went in. I dropped my car off And was in the waiting room, not 10 min later 2 mechanics came to talk to me, not only did they tell me I did not need new ball joints they personally brought me back to my car and showed me what they are supposed to check for and how to check. Very thankful and they answered any questions I had. The place was busy and even with a lot going on the staff was very helpful and kind. Alway tending to the needs of the customer. I been coming to Fink's for over 30 years with my cars and would not take them anywhere else ! The service is great they are friendly, trustworthy, and the prices are reasonable. Over the years many of times I went in to get a few things done to the cars and many times they have told me some of the things I wanted to get done did not need it. Not a lot of shops do that and have come to know if they say I need something done it needs it done. Me and my family have been going to Finks for years for inspections. I go in today for an inspection around 4:00 and give the man my keys. He comes back around with a passing inspection sticker but where the sticker is at is a very large crack that was not there before the inspection. I didn't even get in the Jeep I went right back inside and told the lady behind the desk there's a crack there that wasn't there before. I was told to drive around back and speak with the owner about the situation. The owner asked me to run my fingers down the crack. He says do you feel that? There's a small knick in the center of this new crack, a rock must have done that. I tried explaining that it wasn't there prior to the inspection and he insisted that I was trying to pull one over on him. Tensions grew and he began yelling and said and I quote " I don't care how long you've been doing business here, get the fuck off my property and never comeback, you ain't getting shit from me". In case nobody knows this but a windshield in any car can break very easily from the inside by applying pressure on it, such as making a fist to smooth out an inspection sticker. If too much pressure is applied such as a mechanic in a rush, the windshield will crack. To cover the mechanics ass, he will put a small knick on the crack with a screwdriver and a hammer to simulate a rock had hit it. There's just one problem with that, the knick left behind Is perfectly round and rocks off the road do not make perfectly round knicks or cracks. I recommend if you do have inspections done here, take pictures and video of your car before you hand over the keys. They are shady mechanics. read more
