Woodrow Carpentry & Joinery

We have just finished renovating our main bathroom and laundry, and also adding an ensuite to our…read morebedroom. Danny Woodrow was responsible for the building and carpentry work and we were very happy to work with him and the team he brought to the job. Firstly, he is an open, honest and approachable guy and in the initial discussions, he was able to offer solutions to questions we had and help with practical guidelines. Once the work began, he was always punctual, and we quickly learned that he was easy to get on with and worked well with the other trades on the job. Most importantly, his considerable experience in working on old homes in England meant that his work was thorough, with close attention to detail, and there were no shortcuts. He brings an expertise in windows which added to the quality of our renovation. He was happy to listen to us when we had queries and we were impressed with his problem solving skills and willingness to work through options to determine the best outcome. We found him to be honest, trustworthy and reliable. He also provided a realistic quote and schedule, and both stayed on track. We would highly recommend Danny Woodrow for any type of renovation or building works.

It's hard to find a decent handyman service these days.. communication is not always amazing, not…read moreto mention how expensive their quotes tend to be! City Handyman provided a great experience. Their website was very informative (and quite well designed I might add ), email communications with Derek were very prompt and helpful, and the handymen were available for the express back yard cleaning I needed. After doing a bit more research and gathering a few quotes from different companies, city handyman offered the most reasonable quote BY FAR! Now to the actual work done.. I came home to a perfectly cleaned back yard. No rubbish or leaves left behind and the concrete was spotless! And we got an honest quote for another job we need to be done! Awesome job, highly recommended!

Renovation nightmare BEWARE!…read more Please guys be careful with Mj Harris be prepared to face on going delays, no communication, false promises you pay top dollar for peanuts just want to make sure no one makes the same mistake we did. Its been nothing but a stressful time for us and would not wish this to anyone out there.
Do not use this company. Nothing but delays and broken promises. We paid quite an exuberant deposit…read moreto be met with little communication or progress during our build. We had painters arrive to the property multiple times whilst other trades would never arrive. We also paid for appliances that had never been fitted. Mike is a carsalesman at best with no building background knowledge is what we have learnt from other clients. Don't be fooled by your initial consultation with Mike. We've spent thousands of dollars and our renovation is still not complete. We have children which has made the whole process extremely difficult as we have been displaced for over a year. I hope awareness can assist others by steering clear from this so called business. PSA I've researched and have also found the company has fallen into administration. Don't lose your hard earned money on this crooked company.
Splinter & Callous
I signed up for a woodworking half-day workshop to make an uber-cool T-shelf (book shelf) via…read moreWeTeachme.Com at splinter and callous. It is run by two men that are quite passionate about woodworking and have been holding workshops since April. You have the options of learning how to make a fire pit, a bench, T-shelf, bottle holder, cheese board and clothes rack. apparently, this place is crowd sourced and you can also book through a crowd sourcing website for less than half the price I booked it for (but then again I'm the kind of person that never gets anything on sale - SADLY!). You learn how to use a power saw to cut your two pieces of board into triangles. Unlike me, make sure you have your power saw running before you cut through the wood or it's going to move in the reverse direction and perhaps cut something (maybe yourself) on the way. Then, you get to use the router (a spinning drill like thing) used to make slits in your pieces of wood. Then to the drilling machine to make holes. Put your book shelf or coffee table or bedside table together using plastic ties. Make sure your sand your finished product. And voila you're done! If you have your own project, you can use the space to work on it too! :)
